On 7:52 Japanese had launched a wave of fighter planes had invaded the Hawaiian island Oahu and had a successful surprise attack. This attack had killed many soldiers in Hawaii and many innocent people around the island. These planes had bombarded the Oahu island everywhere causing a riot and a successful assault. The American people were unprepared for the attack due to the new lieutenant who thought that the Japanese fighter planes were B17s were to arrive at the mainland and because of this the Americans had accidently shot down their own planes. Things had only gotten worse as the Japanese planes had gotten more and more closer to reaching their goal which was to bomb the Pearl Harbor and defeat America Fire and destruction was everywhere on Oahu as firefighters put out the fires and in process three of the firemen died and six of them had got injured.

The cultural aspects the Chinese immigrants and Japanese immigrants brought to Hawaii was their martial arts and holiday celebrations. The Chinese immigrants came to Hawaii in the late 1788, where at least 26,000 Chinese worked on Hawaii’s sugar cane plantations. The cultural aspects the Chinese immigrants gave to Hawaii during the plantation era was preserving the art of kung fu and lion dancing. During this time, many of the immigrants lived and worked in Chinatown in Honolulu. The Japanese immigrants came many years after the Chinese arrived.

Imperialism was a controversial idea that a nation can extend its power outward through means of diplomatic or military force. This often results in a shift of power from one major force currently in control to another. The people of that nation under control conflict may also experience wars, rebellions, or cultural destruction. Looking at some of these events, we see some positives and negatives of imperialistic action taken by the United States, and how it affected the nations imperialized by the United States. For starters, let’s look at Hawaii’s annexation.
Several individuals from different ethnicities, races, and citizenships, compose a society. The United Sates allow us to have a close interaction with numerous individuals from diverse backgrounds. In my own case I have been able to interact with many incredible individuals from all over the world who come from extremely different backgrounds. I am a proud Mexican who cherishes respect towards diversity. Coming from a very suffered country I am able to understand not only what does it means to feel proud to be a Latino, but also I can feel acquainted with the pain and struggle that our community has to face every day.
Grammie's neighborhood friend came and said hello. After Grammie disappeared and Kipp got Cassidy and we talked. Dad is trying to book ferry tickets and have reservations for the PEI ferry. It's saves us 4 hours and we'll see so much more of this area.
Understanding the culture of a nation, people, or group one must immerse themselves and experience the nation’s arts, beliefs, customs, practices, values, and social behaviors. By attending a cultural event, an individual is able to experience firsthand the diverse offerings of culture and artistic expression found in a community. At the moment I reside in upstate New York, Albany to be exact and there are no cultural events to attend; well none that are occurring the remainder of my Humanities course. I decided to choose a place I always wanted to visit, do some research online to learn a little about their culture. I chose Hawaii as the place to visit and after some probing, I become aware of how rich their culture is.
According to Dictionary.com, uniqueness means it’s “existing as the only one or as the sole example; single; solitary in type or characteristics, or having no like or equal; unparalleled; incomparable.” Each place is unique in its own way. Some people compare countries alike but really there’s always one thing that distinguishes them from each other. One place on earth that is unique is the state of Hawai’i, from the highest peaks of the mountains to every little grain on the sandy seashores.
Being very fortunate to travel, my wife and I decided to traveo to Hawaii. It was our first trip to that paradisaical place. The experience was fabulous from the very beginning. We flew to the island, and before the plane could land, we were amazed at beautiful blue and clarity of the sea. As we reached towards the beach we were able to see the bottom of the ocean.
Koryn and some of her friends came back to DK. Otherwise this floor is quiet. I ran into Alexis and Katie who just returned from work. Kristin wants to do finger painting or an open mic night. Saige is having some stressful issues with eir new roommate in
As most people imagine about Hawaii, it was a place of alluring paradise, from sensations, views, activities, to whom I was surrounded by. The paradise felt temporary , like the first year I have moved from Korea to Hawaii, not because of surroundings changed nor hardships against people necessarily , but because it was me who began taking it for granted, and for this reason, this was, and still is the perfect place where I am able to quickly realize, reflect, and respond to the beauty of life that God has granted me even in the midst of difficulties. Every time a guest visit our family, they tell me repetitively, “You are so blessed”, and that’s right, I feel special. But I hear many students from mainland say Hawaii students are dumb, or
Since last time I journaled, practicum has been advancing very well. I have obtained a total of 140 hours by the end of this week. I am feeling like I am slightly behind in my hours, only because I took reading week off last week. I was conflicted between taking a week off and going home to visit my family or staying in town and continuing practicum to get some more hours. I ended up deciding to take the week off because I was starting to feel very overwhelmed by the weight of the semester and decided to take the week off as a form of self-care for myself.
How are you today? I’m fine thank you, but now, let’s skip the greetings and get straight to the questions. If you insist. I have prepared some questions for you to answer… That’s good, only a fool would come unprepared.
Good Morning, Hope Germany has been going well for you so far. When you eventually get back stateside we need to hangout sometime with Derrick and Gibby. Classes and life have been going pretty well. In my Ag Economics class we had to read a book by John Steinbeck called Winter of Our Discontent, it’s like high-school all over again, here read this book and after you’ve read it let’s analyze it and talk about how it’s relevant to us. I honestly didn’t find the book to interesting and knowing you, you probably wouldn’t even finish the first chapter since the beginning was pretty confusing to try to read and make sense of.
