I know for a fact that I am a modern liberal. The reason I know this because since the 2012 presidential election, I have consistently stayed informed about political matters and have learned my stances on certain issues. I believe that the government should get involved with the lives of people. One example of that is to have protection of people in certain classes. Many people would be discriminated against if we had not passed laws barring it. Modern liberalism spreads the idea that all people should be treated equal under the law. I also think that we should respect the views from all different backgrounds and not impose our views on others. Sometimes I see those who are classical liberal to push their views on others. Most notably they
I am a republican because, I believe the power should be closer to the people of the United States of America, I believe in limited taxation, and I believe in a strong national defense. First, I am a republican because I believe in the federalist system of government. Basically, I believe in the fact that the power should be equally divided between the government and the people, and the people should have a say in the country’s actions. Also, I believe that the people should not have to pay too much taxes, for they work hard for their money and they should be able to enjoy their money made. I know that the country needs taxes, but just hold the taxes to minimum, and find the equilibrium where everyone agrees.
Rebuilding the Grand Old Party We were all in. As president of the local Young Republicans chapter, I made the executive decision to shift our entire political operation (all five active members) to support a longshot political novice. We were committed to working for Republican nominee Sarah Davis in her bid to become the State Representative for southwest Houston. It seemed clear to me that Sarah Davis represented the future of the Party: a refreshing young candidate eager to listen to the concerns of the next generation, a successful female lawyer ready to alter the perception of a Texas politician, a self-described “rational Republican” willing to buck her Party’s establishment in support of progressive policy prescriptions.
Political Stance Paper: I can proudly and firmly say that I am a Conservative Republican. Reason being is that I stand behind the constitution, and behind our founding fathers. Ways of life has drastically changed from a hundred years ago to today. I wouldn't say by any means for the best either.
The diversity that may be found all around the world and in our very community has always fascinated me. I am aware that it is a widely held belief that being a minority is considered a disadvantage in various aspects and I would disagree with this. Diversity and culture is a two-way street- as a community, whether that be society as a whole or simply a freshman class, we have the potential to be able to learn from each other. I believe that my status as an underrepresented minority has shaped me into the person I am today. Despite moving to the United States at a young age and being a first-generation college student , I am grateful for the privilege to be able to further my education at the University of Utah.
When trying to define a word such as Liberalism it seems difficult to find a solid definition. There are different forms of liberalism and different meanings depending on the time period it is being applied to (idea taken from Phil Badger author from philosophynow). To solve this ambiguity, I’ve decided to define liberalism based on the time period in which I will be conducting my research. Liberalism in the 1700s was the belief of freedom and equals rights generally associated with the enlightenment thinkers, John Locke and Montesquieu (as defined by wikipedia.org). Liberalism didn’t start in the 1700s.
My identity has always felt inextricably linked to what Miami is. A city that is teeming with immigrants, a city with dreams stacked and slopped atop each other, and a city that is living proof of the failed American dream. I say so because of my early observation that generation after generation of immigrants often seemed to stay trapped in dead end jobs; I saw this within my own family – within my grandmother, my aunts and uncles, and even my cousins. Here it was even within my own family tree the deep implicit message that there was no way out of our socioeconomic level. When I made it into an Ivy League college, it was a message that was slowly re-enforced by the fact that my demographic was the most represented in the custodial staff rather than within my own classmates.
Liberals began a process of change. Liberals are people who are pushing for freedom, equality, democracy and human rights. They are individuals who believe that the government must take action to change economic, political, and ideological policies and structures that may be unfair. In this way, Liberals show progress by fighting for a change that the government has to make, being the head of the nation. An example is the conservatives wanting less government power in the 1920s.
After taking these five quizzes and reading throughout the internet and the textbook I have learned a lot about political philosophy. I am still not 100% sure what party I am most likely to side with but I have some more clarity. I am confident that with the knowledge I have gained through these quizzes and through the discussions we have in class that I will have a more precise decision by the end of the year. In the matter of liberal, conservative, or moderate, I would say that I am a moderate.
Throughout my life I have come from and created a few identities for myself. Perhaps, the most dominant identities that have been apart of my life are being an athlete and being a family orientated man. In this paper I will write about how my identities have shaped my life. First off I believe my biggest identity is being an athlete.
My political socialization is influenced by my parents, media, education, life events and gender. My family was not religious nor traditional, so religion and race had no effect on my views at all. When I was a child, my father and I would watch various news sources during breakfast together. My family was not religious, so religion had no effect on my views. The news reports would always range between assorted topics and my father would always talk about which he agreed/disagreed with.
The main idea is that the civil society should be governing itself. In other words, there is a fundamental belief in individual freedom. Classical liberalism holds the view that the people have natural rights and these rights are separate from government. This view is opposite towards the general opinion where the government grants rights. It is a time of scientific revolutions and the time when the power of Catholic Church had no longer the same type of power as before.
Modern liberals who are a part of the middle class are more inclined to be leftist and want the government to help create opportunities for economic
It can be hard to find your political view. Sometimes it takes time and research on political issues in our country and around the world. There are two popular political views; conservative and liberal. The definition for a conservative; is holding to traditional attitudes and values and cautious about change or innovation, typically in relation to politics or religion. Liberal definition is; open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values.
After analyzing page fifty three to determine whether I am liberal or conservative; I came to the conclusion that I am moderate. There are some things that I agree with and some things I see from a different perspective. Let’s start with Economic policy, I agree with the conservatives when it comes to free-marketing competition, I feel as if it gives the opportunity to be familiar with the pros and con for the company as well as the item you may want to purchase. So I honestly do not see what the hassle is about that, as long as the company is legal I think it is a good thing to do to seek buyer’s attention. I really do not see what the purpose of paying taxes is, the cheapest item will go up in expenses because of takes.
My vision of America is that the school system would change, things would be more expensive, and the people in poverty will decrease. In the future, America will probably change the academic system. My vision is that they will have made the school days shorter and less homework. Kids go to school 7 hours a day, some kids even have sports practice after school which leaves no time for them to go home and do homework, chores, and have family time. This affects their grades because when they get home they are busy with all their homework and chores, so they probably don’t do their homework.
