After, The Supreme Court’s confirmation on the legality of slavery in the territories convinced a lot of Southerners that the Northern was seeking the destruction of the “peculiar institution” that was sustained, which made the Southern, and Northern ties almost on its last straw. Then Lincoln’s election was the final straw, and made seven of the Southern states seceding from the United States. When the Civil War was over The Union won even though their armies weren’t as great as the South’s they managed a close victory possibly because of The Union’s sheer number of troops, but even though The Union won they lost a great leader, Abraham Lincoln who was assassinated by a Confederate sympathizer John Wilkes which turned the hearts of the people of the United States dearly, thus ending the American Civil War at a cost of 620,000 soldiers from both sides, plus a great leader Abraham
Abraham LIncoln was the 16th president of the united states and served as president during the Civil war. On November 6, 1860 Lincoln won the presidential election and not one person in the South voted for him. Lot’s of states talked of secession after Lincoln became president and the election was one on the primary reasons the Civil war Happened. The Civil war basically started when the South did not let the confederates restock Fort Sumter after Lincoln told them to, there was a 34 hour battle until finally the federal defenders had to surrender. During the war Lincoln had trouble finding good generals for his armies.
Abraham Lincoln was elected president in 1860 and was content on demolishing slavery on his rise to power. But other states did not want to give up their slaves. This is what ignited the Civil War. The seven states that were content on keeping their slaves formed an alliance that would later be called the Confederacy. Abraham Lincoln led his men that wanted to end slavery and were named the Democratic(Union Army).
The Civil War was a dark time in America’s history. Many causes led up to the gruesome fight that affected America forever. The North and South’s animosity created a large gap between the two. Eventually the South seceded, breaking the union. They became the Confederacy, and the North and South began to anticipate a horrific battle.
Whilst the Northern faction was against slavery, the Southern faction was for, this and some other contributing factors caused the civil war which changed America for the better. However so, this was not without causalities, many white and black men died and the south was littered with battlefields and cemeteries. As Abraham Lincoln stated in the Gettysburg Address, “The world will little note nor remember what we said here, but it can never forget what they did here” (27). In this statement, Lincoln stated that not everyone will remember what we have done for the United States but they will never forget what events occurred here. Even though we might not remember the exact details of the civil war, we cannot allow the memories of the dead to fade into the deep abyss, but finish their unfinished work (Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln initially wanted to free slaves from the places where Confederacy resided but had to rethink his decision because that would be unfair to the African Americans who were still slaves. Because of the president’s quick thinking and smart planning such came out of the whole ordeal. Things were getting out of hand and were going from bad to worse therefore something had to be done to prevent utter chaos so the president had to step up because it was his duty to lead the United States in the right direction. Drafting the Emancipation Proclamation was an idea that was a last resort because Lincoln did not want to lose the war. As the Emancipation Proclamation abolished slavery along the way more soldiers were added to the President’s army which he was the commander in chief of which would lead to victory.
When I was in the 2nd grade i went on the most intresting field trip. I was surprised that my parents paid a lot of money just so i can go to the Lincoln Memorial. I can not expressed how i was feeling at that age, i was so happy. I took my bestfriend Jack, he did not have to pay a single penny. Our school was on fall break so that is when we went so i spent my whole break with my best buddy. We left on a saturday and got at our destination about Sunday night. The Memorial was obviously closed when we got there but i just couldnt wait any longer to go see and learn. As a little kid we all had dreams and my dream was to become President one day. Monday morning we got up pretty early and went out to breakfast. The food in Washinton D.C is amazing i had this meat skillet with over easy eggs on the top. After we enjoyed our delicious breakfast we headed to the memorial. I couldnt believe my eyes when we got there.
Several individuals from different ethnicities, races, and citizenships, compose a society. The United Sates allow us to have a close interaction with numerous individuals from diverse backgrounds. In my own case I have been able to interact with many incredible individuals from all over the world who come from extremely different backgrounds. I am a proud Mexican who cherishes respect towards diversity. Coming from a very suffered country I am able to understand not only what does it means to feel proud to be a Latino, but also I can feel acquainted with the pain and struggle that our community has to face every day.
It was the last inning in our all-star game, and we were losing 10 to 8. Our team had 2 outs and we couldn’t get the third. Our pitcher was doing bad, throwing all balls, while all of us in the field were tired, ready to fall asleep at any moment. There goes another walk. They score again. Great! I was thinking. At this point in the game I thought for sure that I would die right there in center field. However, baseball is baseball and things can change rather rapidly.
Crackle, pop the fire sounded as I placed new logs on top of the hot embers. This was the fire the children of my village sat around and told stories before they went to sleep, and tonight was no different. All of their eyes stared at me expectantly as they waited for me to start telling them a story.
My Argument Stephen A. Douglas I didn’t want slavery to spread into other territories. Let’s spread slavery into the west, and other places. I’m more honest than many other people. I tell it as it is. It’ll show the world that we’re dominate.
It was a taciturn gloomy morning, the year of 1862. The 12th of September. At the end of it, I might be with my family again or buried someplace underground. It was my time to go into battle as soon as I finish saying goodbye to my loved ones. The tears slid down my wife’s face and my daughters lingered into their mother’s arms to cover their dripping faces. I gave everyone one last family hug as my wife said to me “Be careful”.
I have been doing some thinking about our conversation a few days ago and have concluded that I will take you up on the offer! I just sold my old bike and now have some money left over that I can use to pay for those seminars. I am going to see how soon I can get this done, I am going to look at the dates and send my form in.
The United States was at war with themselves and its people were in a battle between their ears. The citizens of the United States needed inspiration to trudge through the Civil War and ultimately needed to be encouraged to reunite as a whole. Inspiration most often comes from leaders and those who are looked up to- at this time, Abraham Lincoln was the biggest leader in the nation’s eyes.
