Personal Narrative: I Am Napoleon

Leaders. They want the best for their country, and probably will do whatever they can for their country, but most do not contemplate how far a leader can tread for the sweet taste of power. In the allegorical fiction novella Animal Farm, George Orwell paints an image of what it would be like if animals took over a farm and started to adopt the ideas of socialism and capitalism. The leaders that take over are corrupt, a perfectly dystopian replica of our society. In the story, many animals represent real people from the Russian Revolution of the 1910s, and they start to form their own set of rules, called “animalism.” Lessons are learned inside the allegory and in modern society as well. Having superiority over something is not easy. If put in the wrong hands, having superiority could destroy something as big as a country. In the story Animal Farm by: George Orwell a pig named Napoleon wanted to establish superiority over Manor Farm, but farmer Jones was in charge of the farm. So, Napoleon and the other animals held a rebellion against farmer Jones and the other humans then the animals kicked the humans off the farm and Napoleon slowly turns into a dictator over the farm. Napoleon stayed in charge of the farm by using fear, propaganda, and Animalism.

Animal Farm is a book written by George Orwell about animals who overthrew the farm owner to become an animal run farm. The farm is managed by pigs with a pig named Napoleon as the leader. Napoleon is a strict and deceiving pig who at first made the animals trust him and think he was a good leader only to turn out just like the humans were before the rebellion. So, what reasons allow Napoleon to stay in power. In Animal Farm by George Orwell, Napoleon stays in charge by outsmarting the animals, threatening them that Jones, the original farm owner, would come back, and finally by scaring the animals with trained attack dogs.

I am a child of immigrant parents, although we are not the wealthiest and they may have had struggles when moving to Canada, my life has been great so far with the efforts of my family. In the book Animal Farm, there are two main “enemies” to the common animals. These two enemies, are Farmer Jones and the pig known as Napoleon. Each of these entities have their own pros and cons, and each one rules over the animals in their own way. Some may argue that Farmer Jones was a better owner, and Napoleon was bad, or vice versa. As stated before, each had their own unique way of ruling the animals and different popularity among the animals.

Lord Acton, the British historian, once said, “All power tends to corrupt, absolute power corrupts absolutely.” In the novel Animal Farm by George Orwell, the character Napoleon puts himself in charge. But, not only that he allows another pig, Squealer, to do his dirty work. And also uses dogs to chase his enemy, Snowball, away . In which leads to other animals not knowing that the farm is being ran the same way as when under Mr. Jones, the old farmer 's, control. But in the end the pigs and humans not only look alike but, also sound alike. Napoleon uses three different tactics to seize and control, but also maintain the farm those tactics are propaganda, loyalty of the farm, and fear.

Trying to gain freedom on the farm, the animals obtain a leader, Napoleon, who is much more harsh and stern than the former farm owner, Mr. Jones, has ever been. Symbolizing a ruler from the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin, Napoleon brings the farm into a hole, they have a hard time getting out of. Napoleon kills various animals, and has also broken the Seven commandments the animals promise to abide by. In the beginning, the farm was run by Mr. Jones, who is later overpowered by the animals on the farm. To gain power, Napoleon starts to earn their trust by making it seem as if he is a trustworthy comrade. Napoleon took over vigorously and starts to abuse his power. In Animals Farm, there is a pig who’s name Napoleon. This character did not contributed to the society with his actions. In effect, he did not respect the concept of “Animalism” which is the equality of all the animals. He did many actions that broke this conception during the entire story. At the beginning, Napoleon, take the farm with Snowball when the farmer, Mr. Jones, left. He left after the revolution of the animals that Old Major begin. When he died, they begin the rebellion. When the farm was now for the animals, the pigs took the control of it. Napoleon begin to be in competition with Snowball, because he had a lot of idea, others liked him and he was the pig that decided the most. During a night, Snowball disappeared and Napoleon pretend that he was a spy of Mr.

Books have been around since the development of writing and the creation of paper, so for a long time now. Beatty from Fahrenheit 451 says that readers can’t benefit anything useful from books. “...take my word for it, I’ve had to read a few [books] in my time, to know what I was about, and the books say nothing! Nothing you can teach or believe. They’re about nonexistent people, figments of imagination…” (59). He's saying that he’s read many books and hasn't learned from them, he says that they're just fake characters. Animal Farm uses animals to portray that intelligence/power can corrupt a society. As an avid fan of the manipulation of language, double meanings of words have always interested me. “Brilliance” with its multifaceted denotations is my favorite word because it accurately describes the essence of who I am. In one aspect, brilliance means “exceptional talent and intelligence”. I am hard working; I achieve high grades in school and use the wisdom I gain in daily experiences. Why are there no lines? Why are there no goals? Why were the benches not moved? Just some of the things that went wrong on 9/12/15. That is the day my soccer team won 8-0 at our first home soccer game. The tensions were high and we were stressed no lines or goals. We had to move the benches all while trying to get prepared for the game. Coach Troy was running late as usual coach Nick was late for the first time and we were trying to warm up without him and get a handle on what to do about the field.

A sense of accomplishment is invaluable to a person. Not only does a sense of accomplishment build confidence and faith in oneself, but it also allows one to reflect on how wonderful the journey to the accomplishment was, and how every little struggle and triumph was worth it. In the middle of summer, where time seems endless and the stress of the previous school year has been shed by students, I never expected to find out that I scored a five on both of the advanced placement exams I took. Nor did I have one-hundred percent confidence the goals we set as section leaders of the marching band would actually be met. Yet to my surprise, I had the good fortune of accomplishing challenging things in both aspects of my life.
