“I am the President of my 4-H club.” When I say these words I am proud. I am proud of all that I have learned through 4-H, and how it has allowed me to grow. 4-H has impacted me by giving me the skills to reach my full potential. One important aspect that I have gained through 4-H are life skills. From day one doing chores every day to waking up in the middle of the night to bottle feed baby goats. I have learned the value of hard work. And that if you do work hard then you can accomplish great things. I’ve also learned to manage my time wisely. I have learned to plan my time around working with my animals and chores, while also playing sports and doing my homework. These life skills are so important, and I am grateful that I got to learn
My most significant 4-H accomplishment is when I was about 9 years old when I first began my 4-H career. Growing up my mother had told us about the time she was a kid. She had been in 4-H and had shown cattle for many years. I thought that was very interesting and thought I should try it. My mom is my hero so I wanted to follow in her footsteps.
When I finish 4-H and my college degree I hope to give back to the future 4-H members so that they can too achieve their goals. Thank
“What 4-H Means to Me” – by Morelia Falcon I believe the 4-H has played a big part in who I am today. To completely explain what 4-H means to me, I would have to start at the very beginning, so that is what I am going to do. The very beginning of my 4-H journey starts in Hardin County, Ky.
Through the years, 4-H has had a great impact on my life. Without 4-H I would not be the person I am today if I had not been involved with 4-H at such a young age. During my years of participation in 4-H I have received many life skills that have greatly impacted my life. Some of the skills that I have gained include but are not limited to leadership skills, public speaking skills, and responsibility skills.
When I started high school, the club that excited me the most, was National Honors Society. So, at the first chance I got, in my sophomore year. After being a member for a year, I quickly realized that I wanted to take on a leadership opportunity in the club. So, I took a shot for the stars, and campaigned for being president of Honors Society. Though I had some competition, I put my all into composing a speech, and I won the presidency, and I have been president since.
I learned to smile more. Doing the Markham Service Learning project, I learned that it is okay to be loud. I learned to have more patience when helping others up off the ground. I learned to be a better
Because of this I needed to balance my schedule of academics, golf, social life, and health/sleep. Including balancing my life, I became responsible by budgeting my money. Also, I’ve learned things about myself and grew as a person. Currently, these experiences help my personal growth because I assess them in college.
This psychological assignment requires us to break a social norm. In my case, I decided to break an appearance social norm. I thought in something weird, but at the same time really funny. Therefore, I entered to my little walking closet and I took the most brilliant and extravagant high heels shoes that I found to wear them at a place when people usually used flip flops.
Throughout my life, 4-H has made an impact by shaping me into the person I am today and leading me on the path to become who I want to be. I have been given many opportunities to broaden my horizons, develop critical life skills, and make experiences that will always be with me. I was raised in the small town of Milan, Michigan. As I grew older, I heard so many stories about my father’s experience in 4-H. I wanted to have the same opportunities to experience what he did through 4-H. At the age of 6, in late 2004, I took part in my first 4-H project, the Protégé horse program in Washtenaw County where I was able to borrow my mentor’s horse for show. This group allowed me to expand as a person.
The Keck Geology Consortium is dedicated to enhancing the diversity of future scientific communities and sharing our science with a broader audience. Please describe how you, based on your personal background and life experiences (including social, cultural, familial, educational, or other opportunities or challenges) will contribute to this mission during and after participation in a Keck research project. Six years ago, I made the life-changing decision to join my local 4-H club. At the time, I didn’t realize just how valuable this experience would be and what an impact it would have on my life.
One being, learning how to manage my time. There were weeks where we would have school all day, then practice till five, then a basketball game at six. It was extremely hard to study, cheer, work, and somehow have a social life. These situations helped me plan ahead to when I was going to finish homework or study for my upcoming tests. I will use this useful skill in college next year where i'll find myself always looking for time that I don't have.
I learned how to manage my time more efficiently since I had to balance my work and education and still do all the activities that make me happy such as playing soccer and badminton with my friends or being part of clubs at my school. Although life does not go by rule; there are times when I think what would happen if my dad was still healthy and I wouldn 't have to work. I wonder what it feels like not to think about paying the rent for a day or being able to spend the weekend without working. Still, at the end of the day when I first bought my mother an iPhone with my earnings, I felt satisfied with myself.
I try to develop better study habits and work efficiently. After I moved and my parents split, I began to adjust to whole new life. Even with all the distractions in life I try to keep my mind clear and focus on my long term goals. My favorite teacher, Chadwick Halsted, teaches his
A sense of accomplishment is invaluable to a person. Not only does a sense of accomplishment build confidence and faith in oneself, but it also allows one to reflect on how wonderful the journey to the accomplishment was, and how every little struggle and triumph was worth it. In the middle of summer, where time seems endless and the stress of the previous school year has been shed by students, I never expected to find out that I scored a five on both of the advanced placement exams I took. Nor did I have one-hundred percent confidence the goals we set as section leaders of the marching band would actually be met. Yet to my surprise, I had the good fortune of accomplishing challenging things in both aspects of my life.
It was quite Monday in spring, a normal day but for me and my team it was a big day. It was the day we started training for the important race; the race decide which track team was the best in the city. My teammates are, George, Aron and Dylan. We have been working hard because we lost the championship last year it would be good for us to come out this year and win the championship.
