A problem that I solved that is significant to my future occurred two years ago when I started my sophomore year in high school. I thought my life was over because I was no longer winning in fencing tournaments. I had been fencing, in Saber, for five years and winning tournaments in my age group but my fencing was declining and my opponents capitalized on it. The downfall was triggered by a series of unfortunate events.
At my fencing club, the top four fencers, who coincidentally were all high school seniors, left the club. They had all gone to fence for their respective colleges. After the fencers left, membership declined and, in less than three months, almost three fourths of the remaining fencers left as well. Due to the lack of quality fencers, I did not know if I could continue to fence competitively.

My father had taught me everything he knew from when he was a fencer and I competed with him on my side during every tournament since the fourth grade. I had invested too much time, sweat, and tears to quit now; I was determined to find a solution to my problem.
I was desperate to find a new fencing club; I had gone three months without winning a tournament. The first person I thought of was an old teammate who switched clubs a few months earlier. She introduced me to a new fencing club that specialized in Saber and a coach was an accomplished fencer. However, it was a small club with only a handful of fencers but since this was the only other club within a two hour drive from my house, I decided to give it a try it out.
The new coach taught a different style of footwork so I had to adjust to his fencing style. A few months went by and my competition results were still stagnant; I didn’t know what else to do since nothing seemed to be
Describe a time when you overcame a serious challenge. Explain the details of the situation and how you handled things and worked through things. A serious challenge I have faced is growing up with my grandparents. While most people say that I’m so lucky for it there is a lot they don’t know.
How life goes on we experience a lot of things that can either teach us an important lesson or nothing at all. I have learned more than one lesson in my life, but there’s one that I will always keep in mind to help others like it helped me. Thanks to John Tyler High School Drill Team I have self-confidence and courage to do risky things that I never thought I would be doing. Now I believe in myself and I don’t let fear dull my success, I fight for what I want until I get it even if it take a long time, I don’t give up that easy anymore.
Fencing was a requirement of the upper class men. Fencing was a crucial part of becoming a knight during the Elizabethan Era, and the young men would train in fencing from ages seven to twenty-one. This sport was performed with a thin, light, sharp-pointed sword called a rapier. These rapiers were admirable for thrusting, and were used in preference over older, dull cutting swords.
Everyone has events in their lives that have significant impacts on them. These particular events are what help shape people into who they are. In my life, one of these events was when I committed to play baseball at Mississippi State University. This event has caused important changes in my baseball career, social life, and my academics. Committing to MSU was a great moment in my life and it has changed my life considerably.
It was the summer before my freshman year when I made the most influential choice towards my life. In a spur of the moment decision I signed up for the Verona girls golf team. I made my mind up in 6th grade that I was going to do volleyball in the Fall because pretty much all the girls did volleyball and thought they were the best players ever. I never even thought about doing golf. This was my mindset until I really started to think and thought to myself, “I’m not even good at volleyball.
When tryouts for the school 's first year of having an archery team arrived, I, nervous and irresolute as ever, took from my coach for the first time the bow that would be my counselor and companion for years thereafter. For the next six years, I would go on to be the only person to be a part of the Prattville school system 's archery program every single year since its inception. As friends left to college and new lives, I remained, making new friends and developing faster than I ever had before, my morale buoyed by a hardened love for archery and its potential to bring together the most unlikely of companions from all walks of life, my conscience learning to evaluate not only the intricacies of my aim, my posture, and my breath, but also my mind, the often raucous command post of my youth. Over the years, my team has competed in five national archery tournaments,
I've noticed I've been getting shot gun in Sammy's car pretty often now, and that makes me so happy cuz everyone always beats me to it hahah but anyways no one wanted to go get our table last night and then when we did, 80% of our party wasn't even there! So we literally had to wait like 2 hours to get seated and let me tell you, a BITCH was hungry and cold but it's ok cuz afterwards when I got home I knocked out so quick and probably had the best slumber of my ENTIRE LIFE!!! It's just crazy to think that if they never cancelled the game my day would've been completely
One instance that sticks in my mind took place in middle school track. Within the first week of practice, my coach told me that I wasn’t strong enough to be a distance runner. This cut me deep but I decided that instead of being disappointed, I would do whatever it took to prove that coach wrong. With the awards I hold today, I feel that I can justifiably say that I am a very strong distance runner.

A difficult or challenging situation that I have faced is trying to become a starter on the football team. Every year I start the season as second string, next to sub in. However, I have always worked hard and gave all my effort every day at practice. Many days I have come home so exhausted I have no desire to eat, but if I did not then I also would not grow stronger. Now my senior year all my hard work has payed off as I am a starter on the defense and special teams.
Andrew, my older brother, in middle of the road he was tired to keep ride the ox for 1 month. He asked me to replace him, so he can get some sleep. But then I do not have any experience of riding ox, that cause our wagon go wrong trail. The sky was dark like almost rain, I was panic. Everyone was in poor health because digest least food.
Most people are in amazement, and think its different and out of this world, and others have claimed that they have tried to throw javelin, which was followed but their response “Its not easy to throw that”. The Javelin community is usually made up of six or less people depending on whether one is on a track team, or simply throwing as an independent athlete. When standing outside of the this small, yet unique discourse community one may think that throwing the javelin could be a simple task. Since my many years of throwing javelin I know the hard work and dedication that goes into becoming a quality collegiate javelin
A Hero's Journey thru Life Throughout life there will be many challenges that will present themselves some of them will be caused by someone else but others will be caused by yourself. Some people will call these people Foes or Anti-Heros. They can range from a monster called Grendel to just a teacher at your high school or just earning the high school diploma. The “Hero” will need to overcome the foe in whatever way they chose. For a high school student there are many foes that one might need to overcome, one of them is graduating high school.
As a child, I was always extremely passionate about dance as a mode of expression for myself. However, my family’s financial situation never permitted me to take proper classes, and for a while I felt that a dream within myself had been crushed. When high school rolled around, I searched for an activity that would satisfy my dance needs and stumbled upon the extracurricular activity Color Guard, which consisted of flag, rifle, and sabre spinning. I grew excited at the idea of joining an activity in my high school, but what really drew me in was the dance aspect. I would finally be able to live out my dream without bound…or so I thought.
I realized that even the things that we hate doing the most, are absolutely necessary to us because they define who we are as a person, and they could bring us several benefits in the future. For example, the reason a person continues to go to school even if they hate it is because of the benefits they get out of it in the future. The benefits of this example would be related to a job or career, and eventually having the financial freedom, all by doing something that you temporarily despise. Basically saying that no matter how bad things are now, it will absolutely be worth it in the future. After having my watershed moment, I was offended by the fact that I was taught at a young age that we should only do things that we found fun and nonstressful.
