Ever since I can remember I have been different than most kids my age. When most kids wanted to be playing with dolls, I wanted to be sitting with the adults conversing and learning. When most kids were at a huge high school party, I was sitting at home constructing my dream NYC apartment out of spare cardboard and sticky notes. When most kids were drinking and smoking marijuana, I was memorizing Broadway show tunes. Kids started catching on to my strange amount of independence and individuality when I was in middle school. Everything I do allows me to gain more knowledge and skills in the fashion industry. I am taking business classes at my school and local community college. I study marketing and psychology, so I can better understand how how to sell your look to consumers. I am quite possibly one of the most artistically challenged people, but I am constantly trying to teach myself how to sketch a woman’s figure. I work on it day in and day out. Whether it’s a doodle or a fashion model. I want to be the best I can be within the industry, and comprehending all aspects of it is very important to me. I could just sit around and wait for my dream to come to me, but I want to chase it down and show the industry why they need me. I applied for an internship at Designers and Agents in NYC. I was a junior in high school who wanted a foot in the industry. When I got the internship, it gave me proof that my dream is one step closer to reality. I was the youngest person they had ever offered an internship too! I turned it down, and took a local internship that was paid so I could save money to move to NYC after high school.
