I wasn’t sure if I wanted to leave…. I grew up here for nine years since I was a baby, but the feeling of me leaving didn’t feel right. I didn’t really know what to utter to my dad I didn’t want to go. Jamaica was fun living their having childhood memories was the best and leaving them behind was never my idea.
People come to America for new opportunities, for a better life, after all it is the land of the free and the home of the brave. However I never envisioned I would ever come to America. At the age of 8 my life changed forever. My mother wanted to leave our life behind and move to an unfamiliar country. I was shocked when my mom told me we be would coming here I remember feeling helpless and confused. I wanted to see my dad and my siblings but I didn’t want to leave my friends behind and I really liked the school I was attending I had just gotten into the 3rd grade which I was very excited for. I didn’t have another option, I had to come here and looking back I’ve never appreciated anything more.
Later I moved to Bell Gardens, California, a town right next to LA, I attended kindergarten there but then my mom decided to move back to Fresno. Already knowing English, I made friends quick and I really liked the placed I lived. Sadly, we stayed in Fresno till I was a fourth grader, just when I was comfortable with my environment, my mom had noticed that the place we lived at was getting more and more dangerous every day. The crime kept rising, but I was young and didn’t notice my surroundings. My aunt was the one who told my mom to move in with her, in Iowa. My mom worried about our wellbeing so we had no choice but to move to Iowa. My siblings and I were frustrated with my mom because we liked where we lived and
It was two months before my fifth grade graduation and three years from my parents divorce. Little did I know the news my mom told me that day would change my life forever. Tears came down my face when she told me we were going to be moving to New Jersey. At this moment I was feeling very confused and startled. Not only was I upset because I was leaving a place I have called home for eight years, but because I was leaving my friends and most importantly my dad and brother. This whole experience was alarming at first. I was frightened that the friendship I had developed over the years with my older brother would go to waste. I thought I would be omitted by my family in Texas and I didn 't know what life would be like with my dad and brother thousands of miles away. Well from the moment I stepped off the plane into New Jersey something clicked. My friendship with my brother and dad became even stronger. I never went a day without talking to either of them. I became a stronger person and this has helped me take on other challenges in my life. Now whenever problems come my way, I am able to conquer them. Not only did I gain from this move, but my brother, sister and mom as well. All of us became closer and were lucky enough to have joined with another amazing family. I started a new school that changed me for the better. This move had a huge impact on my life and without it I
Moving houses had always been strenuous for me, especially since my family had moved multiple times. This was my family’s third time moving. We were moving from California to Indiana. Even though it was my third time moving, I still found it arduous to move locations and to say goodbye to the friends I made in California. Although the transition of moving was difficult, I decided to focus on the new experiences I would gain from moving.
When I was 14 I had to move to San Clemente, California. I had already recently moved temporarily to Texas while a house was made ready for us on the military base. “The house is ready!” my mother had said excitedly, after being on the phone for a few minutes. “It’s time to go back?” I had asked. She had said yes then left the room. I then had to move from Texas back to California with my mom, sister, brother, and pets. Once we arrived it was quite an adjustment, I gained an injury, a new academic program, and added responsibilities at home. I guess it didn’t have to be so hard, the move, but it was quite a difficult experience.
A life changing event that occurred was when I moved from West Virginia to Arizona. Which was a tremendous trip which took about two thousand miles,by driving. On our way to the desert my family and I stopped at campgrounds, resorts was memorable. It provided me with a new aspect of how truly large the world is. While stopping at campgrounds along the road to Arizona I was able to admire the scenes, explore the town metaphorically speaking. While staying the day at the campgrounds my family and I would go hiking, swimming, out to eat and visit tourist destinations in that area. As my family and I entered Arizona it was eye opening. It was very shocking to see that palm trees actually existed it Arizona.
Getting down to Nebraska was harsh and the trail was dusty. The children like me had to take care of the animals. Jim, Antonia and myself became really good friends after living next door to each other for a while and we do everything together. When I work, I help my dad to plant and harvest crops and hunt for food. We planted and harvested corn, potatoes, pumpkin, wheat, peas, carrots and tomatoes. In the years I lived in Nebraska, people died sooner because all of us didn't have the certain type of medicine to keep people alive longer. When I went out with friends, we would take turns on who took the wagon out and if it was my turn and the wagon broke down I would have to fix it myself. We have both rich families and poor families in my town. I have a friend that
Moving from Tennessee to Ohio in the 6th grade was probably the most difficult times in my life. Boardman, Ohio, is where my mother and I moved too, from Murfreesboro,Tennessee. The environment was definitely a big change for me. Murfreesboro had variety of people with diversity and cultures from all around. Boardman is very basic, and not extremely integrated. I was at a point where, I didn’t have a self of belonging at my school for awhile. There weren’t any individual outlets for people who were artsy or creative. Majority of the people, were okay with fitting in, and staying in there ‘norms’. I, on the other hand, did not. I liked to question things, and go against what everyone else is doing or wearing. Everything was so BASIC, and I
We were driving in my mom’s car one day and my mom asked me “Dan, are you okay with moving to Tipp City”, at the time I didn’t think much of it and just said “yeah, I guess”. I’ve known for a while now that I wouldn’t live in Arcanum through high school. I just didn’t know when I would move, or where in the dayton area.
Was it that severe? How was my town affected? This was something I was wondering after a really strong storm went through my town. It was I think two or three years ago in Hampton Iowa. It was fascinating and threatening at the same time.. It had affected Hampton in a not so positive way, but it could be worse.
Moving to Kansas was a big change in my life. At the end of the school year of 2011, four weeks before the last day of school we went on the eight hour road trip to Newton, Kansas. It was exciting. Getting a new place to live, a new home. Change is good, well mostly good. In Colorado we had a nice old house with a big backyard, and a huge hill to go sledding on in the winter. Life was good. Our school was a Charter school which I didn’t like because we had to wear uniforms. Our school was just down the hill and it took less than five minutes to get there because of traffic, there was a intersection right at the bottom of the hill. Which is just about the worst place to put an intersection.
Once upon a time when I was younger I used to live in Lincolnton and I went to G.E. Massey. I was in the first grade. I was living with my Aunt Tammy at the time because my mother was living with my grandfather and so was my older sister. After I moved onto the 2nd grade I moved in with my pawpaw and my mother because my sister moved with our dad. Me and my mom shared a room but most of the time I wouldn’t see her because when she got home from work during the night she would go right to bed. In the mornings I would see my mom because she would get me dressed and ready for school. During the afternoon when I would get out of school I would stay at home with my pawpaw. Sometimes I liked staying there with him because he was funny and had lots
I lived in Missouri for 9 years. Sure, there were a lot of bad things going on in Missouri but, who cares. I don 't, that 's for sure, I spent most of my time in the backyard playing with my brother Blake. I also enjoy going to school there too, because my best friend Jared was there. Including a girl who I had a crush on ever since kindergarten. Everything was going what I wanted it to be until one night just as Blake and I were slowly falling asleep, we heard talking in the living room. Now, I knew that I wasn 't allowed to get out of bed at night, but since I was still awake I decided to go anyway. So, I got out of bed, Silently crept into the hallway and hid behind a wall. Blake surprisingly has also been awakened and followed me. As we stand in the darkness of the hallway, we silently listen to our parents talking.
Going to Silver Falls is a wonderful experience to see landscape. First, I have gone to Silver Falls, in Oregon, twice. My friends and I rented a car to drive there. Before we left Corvallis which is an hour from Silver Falls, we bought sufficient food for breakfast and lunch. We arrived there around 8 am. At times, we have put a rug on the ground near the water falls. We could relax, and enjoy the view, and eat breakfast and lunch. Also, we have taken a lot of pictures, so that we can share with our friends and families. Then we have seen all of the water falls in different location. Although we have worn jacket there, we have been swimming. To sum up, our trip was enjoyable knowledge in my
