Reading exposed me to many different situations and outcomes, and it broadened my vocabulary. In a way reading helped me prepare for the real world. People usually
The extra note section allows further understanding of the writing and gives readers a chance to comprehend something they want to look deeper into. The numbers by the notes and sentences throughout the book allow easy access to link the two together. The preface gives the reader an idea of what they are about to learn and helps capture their interest. The preamble is also where the author first states her feelings and admiration toward Pocahontas. Overall, there are more strengths to this book then
Why I Write and What I Have Learned so far? “I write because I love writing. I think I became a writer in order to explore my ideas and responses to the world around me, which I often found it difficult to share with others.” Alex Miller. Writing is a complex feeling, thoughts, or experience that describes our different feelings about many events or the thought or experience that could help others to solve their problem.
Most importantly, the teacher is willing to help in any way that she
What does writing mean to me? Writing means getting people engaged in your piece. It means people wanting to keep reading what you wrote. The biggest thing about writing to me is expressing your thoughts and letting your mind go. Using good word choice and having a strong voice in the writing is something that makes it good.
That sometimes makes writing hard because it is importnat to be curious about the topic that you are writing about. The next habit of mind is openness which is the being able to “consider new ways of being and thinking in the world.” I think I express this very well in my writing because throughout this course I have had to learn new ways to write and think just to learn how to write these different kind of papers. I also believe openness is importnat in everything. Next is engagement, this is “a sense of investment and involvement in learning.”
Reflection How to Read Literature like a Professor was definitely a ‘thought provoking read’ like the table at Barnes & Noble said. Although at first, I have to admit that Foster’s writing had bored me a bit, until I realized fact that I had subconsciously been thinking about what certain items symbolize and how they were important to the story. Overall, I enjoyed the work; Foster’s book is truly “A lively and entertaining guide to reading between the lines.” I liked the references Foster constantly gave to novels and movies, that helped me with visualizing what kind of ideas he was talking about, since I personally learn better through visualizations.
One of the assignments I am proud of is a mini essay about how to write an argumentative paper. The point of the assignment was to show that I know the steps to writing an argumentative paper. I feel like I clearly outlined all of the steps necessary. However, I could have improved the essay by not addressing the reader.
My writing portfolio is an accurate representation of my writing ability. These pieces reflect my ability to effectively communicate my main idea, read and think critically, do research, and learn independently. I enjoyed writing the creative assignments, which also happened to be what I was best at writing. This is perfect because in the future, I plan to be an author, and am already writing my first book. Being able to write creatively directly affects my ability to write a good book without having to steal ideas from other books, movies, or television series.
In triad K, I have been able to reflect on my literacy journey, create amazing study habits, and learn more about rhetoric. In addition, I have learned how I can use rhetoric in everyday life. Although I know I still have not achieved the complex writing, I strive to get to, I still make use of what I already know and just try to build on it. Writing essays such as these and the others we have done in the class have really helped transform me into a better writer. We talked about literacy sponsors and had to write a literacy narrative, where I reflected my growth in writing, and created goals on how I would like to improve.
The assignment I have enjoyed the most is the researched essay. I have enjoyed it because I was able to choose my own topic, and I have learned a lot about the APA style of writing. The topic I chose for my essay was CrossFit. I have really enjoyed reading and learning about CrossFit. CrossFit has always seemed a bit scary to me.
As a reader I 'll be dedicating my concentration as well as I can to your written word because everyone deserves that kind of respect plain and simple.
My strengths as a writer are being able to come up with a lot of interesting topics and getting it on paper but I have challenges when it comes to organizing my paper and trying to tie all the topics together. Based on the feedback from my papers I would say there are many areas I need to work on for example grammar, punctuation and spelling. For me, it is many areas that I need to work on like grammar and spelling I have always had some complications when it came to those two things so I really try to make sure I continue to work on it. To improve my skills, I am going to take advantage of the Grand Canyon Universities writing center and also the tutoring center this will be beneficial to me because it will help me get stronger in my writing and to also get more feedback that will help me grow even more in the areas that I struggle in.
Throughout this course I have learned and grew as a writer. I have improved on my topic and concluding sentences, grammar, mechanics,
It is because of reading that it helped develop my interest in writing and journaling, which is enjoyable for me. Just like reading, writing is a great way for me to unwind. I love to write about topics I’m passionate about
