(h)What qualifies someone to be a survivor? (b)In many situations the survivor has traits that differ from someone else in that situation. (t)What makes someone a survivor IS bravery, persistence, and knowledge.
(T)Therefore, Hyeonseo Lee would be qualified as a survivor for example in (E)"My escape from North Korea" Hyeonseo Lee was detained by the Chinese Police because of accusation's that she was north Korean Lee stated that "Someone had accused me off being north Korean, so they tested my Chinese language abilities, and asked me tons of questions. I was so scared. I thought my heart was going to explode. If anything seemed unnatural I could be imprisoned and repatriated. I thought my life was over. But I managed to control all the emotions

(e)Aron’s arm is stuck in a rock and tries to convince himself to cut his wrist off at 8 pm he tries to loss the rock but to no effect “I realize I’m arguing with myself, and yield to a halfhearted chuckle. This is crazy. But I know that I could never saw through my arm bones with either of the blades of my multitool, so I decide to keep picking away at the boulder. Tick, tick, tick, … tick … tick, tick. The sound of my knife tapping is pathetically minute,” (Saturday, April 26, 8 P.M.) Rainsford mostly uses traps to slow Zaroff down his first trap injures Zaroff forcing him to retreat and bringing one of his dogs. (E) After setting up another trap and hearing it work relief follows thinking that he had won but then out of the blue " well done, Rainsford," the voice of the general called. "your Burmese tiger pit has claimed one of my best dogs. Again you score. I think, Mr. Rainsford, I'll see what you can do against my whole pack. I'm going home for a rest now. Thank you for a most amusing evening.” (page 22, lines 639-643). (A) Rainsford using his knowledge about traps got Zaroff's best hound making him unable to track Rainsford without having a dog to lead him. Zaroff declares that he would be leaving and bring a pack (E) Rainsford was running away from the approaching pack of dogs when he was going to put a trap to kill Ivan "they would be on him any minute now. His mind worked frantically. He thought of a native trick he had learned in Uganda. He slid down the tree. He caught hold of a springy young sapling, and to it he fastened his hunting knife, with the blade pointing down the trail; with a bit of wild grapevine he tied back the sapling. Then he ran for his life. The hounds raised their voices as they hit the fresh scent. Rainsford knew now how an animal at bay feels."(page 23, lines 660-664). (A) Rainsford uses this trap to stop Ivan and
“He shrugged his shoulders. Then he sat down, took a drink of brandy from a silver flask, lit a cigarette, and hummed a bit from Madame Butterfly,” (14). The mood of this scene is relief because General Zaroff thought that the big hunt was over so he had went home got really comfortable, had got him some wine, and a big dinner. But little did he know what truly happened to Rainsford. So this shows that General Zaroff had a chance of winning the big hunt.
If I find him, the general smiled, he loses” (Connell 5). In this section of the story, Zaroff is explaining the rules of the game to Rainsford. When Zaroff says “If I find him….. he loses,” you can highly infer by this that when he says “loses” he means they die, so he’s practically saying that is Rainsford loses, he dies. Typically, when one knows they are going to die, they do what they can to save themselves, which is what Rainsford did.
In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game,” Rainsford fits the category of Zaroff’s ideal animal to hunt, because Rainsford displays the attribute to reason by being able to make many life saving decisions throughout the story. Rainsford has the ability to reason from the very beginning of the story, because he was able to remain calm to make a life saving decision in an unnerving situation, which proves that he fits the quarry for Zaroff to hunt. As he was in the water, he recalls the gunshots he heard while he was still on the yacht, “they had come from the right, and doggedly he swam in that direction, swimming with slow, deliberate strokes, conserving his strength” (Connell 14). Whereas most people would have panicked in the situation
He knew how to avoid them he just didn’t know if avoiding them the way thought in his head was going to work. He ended up getting caught in one of the traps and didn’t know what to do. He had to think quickly before Zaroff could kill him and take all his weapons. The battle ended with Rainsford winning. The night after rainsford won the great battle between General Zaroff, he went home that night and slept in the bed off Zaroff's.
After having no other option than to play the game, Rainsford starts playing it by the rules to prove how honorable of a man he is. The latter comes very close to killing Zaroff using one of his cunning three traps. After escaping the third trap, Zaroff and his pack of hounds continue their chase. Rainsford then smartly gets away from the hunter by leaping into the sea and making his was back to
Rainsford, in this situation, displayed a smile to show he wasn't the enemy nor was he fearful. Not only does Rainsford survive the gunman and the great fall from the cliff, but he shows the great audacity to go before Zaroff and return to finish the fight. Rainsford is a survivor. Furthermore this shows a change is Rainsford's paradigm from the parts of the story where he believes animals have no
Zaroff was playing a game of cat and mouse. When Zaroff comes for Rainsford again, Rainsford begins to use his experience managing to kill Zaroff’s dog and Assistant. Although he has succeeded in this aspect Zaroff’s dogs are still coming to him and Rainsford has nowhere left to run. The story reached its peaks when Rainsford has to make a decision of how to respond to this
Before Rainsford falls off the yacht Rainsford says that hunted animals have no feelings. Rainsford and Whitney are discussing about how animals have no feeling while being hunted. “Nonsense...Be a realist the world is made up of two classes-the hunter
Also, General Zaroff is an extreme hunter and doesn’t find pleasure in hunting regular animals. Zaroff says the most dangerous game is humans because they have the ability to reason. Rainsford is going to be hunted and is given a certain amount of time to survive. Moreover, while Rainsford is being hunted Zaroff
It took 250$ and good deeds to create some doctor like me. Growing up I was the kid who looked at the world with open optimistic eyes. I grew up in a small city called Dora located in Iraq, the middle of three girls. I was born in the late 90s, I have been told that I was born "at the end of the good days". That's when Iraq's political circumstances were not at peace at all, at 2003 another war broke in Iraq.
When Rainsford used various traps to outwit General Zaroff in “The Most Dangerous Game” he was using his prior knowledge to outwit Zaroff . General Zaroff was so focused on hunting Rainsford, he triggered the trap Rainsford set: “So intent was the cossack on stalking that he saw it. His foot touched the protruding bough that was the trigger... the cut living tree, crashed down and struck the general a glancing blow on the shoulder as it fell... He staggered but did not fall”(Homer 54).
This is shown when Rainsford got into Zaroff's room. Rainsford states “I’m still a beast at bay.” Then General Zaroff says “‘ I see... Splendid! One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds.
On page two of "My Escape from North Korea", Lee explains that she and her family have been jailed multiple times, yet she kept on pushing to get her family and herself to freedom. The determination that Lee demonstrated is what got her family to safety. This is an inspiring example of determination. Lee also shows determination on an earlier paragraph on page 2.
What started as a thrilling new adventure for American trapper and hunter Sanger Rainsford quickly became a nightmare. On Friday April 15th, 2016, Rainsford traveled to Ship-Trap Island, a small spit of land off the coast of the Caribbean, along with family friend Whitney Johnson with the intention of mounting a hunting expedition in the Amazon. After going up onto the afterdeck and hearing a gunshot, he ran to the railing to see what was all the commotion. He had climbed onto the railing to get a better view and quickly lost his balance, subsequently being thrown into the bitterly cold waters.
“Rainsford hesitated. He heard the hounds. Then he leaped far out into the sea…” (235). Again, Rainsford had to reason with himself. When he heard the pounding paws of the pack and the heavy breathing of the general, he knew that he would have to jump.
