You never knew how the relationship will go. It is possible that they may turn out to be a really good friend one day. As we learn the characters In “ The Only Alien On Planet” are very helpful to Smitty to speak and not to be quiet. We have learned that keeping secrets can sometimes be bad, but at the same time it could be good because people wouldn't be talking about your past behind your back. In conclusion, Ginny from the first time she met Smitty she knew she liked him and wanted to be with him, she tried to help him out so he can speak but never worked, until the day where they went to the party.
Whether or not it came from the society they lived in at the time or just the era of the 1920ś which was a time of excess with little repercussion at least for the remainder of the decade. The illusions that people saw in the book arent super far fetched since you're not in on it it's easy to look down upon it.. As the characters turned their own fiction and false realities into their own reality these people created a life of sadness and despair that they had no way of getting out of. Overall The Great Gatsby is a story about human nature with a couple twists and turns in it to make it interesting, and with that human nature it showed how power and money could corrupt somebody to the point they're not even living on the same planet as the rest of everybody. The 1920's was an era of excess namely people like Tom and Daisy or the old money team but it also gave rise for lots of new money to come up like Gatsby but it wasn't good for everybody in the era like Mr.Wilson and everybody in the valley of ashes who could barely sustain themselves. At the end of the book when everything kind of unraveled with Myrtle getting disassembled and Gatsby being shot with basically their illusions being shown for what they really are or maybe even the great depression coming and showing
I am going to give you many facts about West Virginia. Some of them may be boring to you but for me they are all interesting. I am doing this because it is one of the end of the year projects. I was chosen this state by a random name picker. At first I was so bored of it, but now that I researched it, it is actually very interesting.
As a result, more people were able to read in general, and so more people read Dracula as a popular gothic novel. At the time, it was even compared to other victorian novels like Frankenstein and Wuthering Heights. Unfortunately, however, even though the novel was well received by the general public, it was never taken seriously, and remained the subject of harsh criticism by newspapers and critics in England. Dracula persevered in the public eye, despite countless critiques, but Stoker was forgotten, and it was not until the 1970s that the novel began to be taken seriously by academics (Welsch 39). Once Dracula was rediscovered in the late twentieth century, academics began producing many scholarly journals on the themes present throughout the novel.
The first 200 pages were plot development. The climax took place in the last 50 pages of the book, so the climax ended abruptly. But I also liked many parts of the book. At first I was confused, then I thought I knew what happened, and by the end I was left in awe, as the author gave me information and I thought I was correct, but in the end I was left in awe and the author completely destroyed my opinion. I thought I knew what was happening, and I thought that I knew who had done it, But I was proven wrong and my opinion was the furthest from the truth as it could be.
Television was always an important piece of American. It has existed for about seven decades. But as the television industry has grown, the idea of TV has disintegrated. These days the idea of TV has degenerated into pointless reality TV. Reality TV portrays a certain scenario and depicts the idea of what a certain character should do following that. The impact, however, is usually negative to younger audiences. Reality TV is indulgent and candid, it is overflowing with artificial life.
Fitzgerald was a great writer writer in the twentieth century but not many people saw that. His novels were not so well known at that time. They were not very sold and he was mortified to know that his writing was not enough at that time. Fitzgerald even joined the armed forces during the World War I , after he left and decided to dedicate himself to writing again. One of his best stories was "The Great Gatsby" that at the beginning did not sell much.
One novel in particular that I love is Kate DiCamillo’s The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. What I find most remarkable about this novel is that although it is geared towards a younger audience, it still holds many valuable lessons that are applicable to older audiences as well. Edward Tulane is a rather cynical porcelain rabbit who had lived life too comfortably. However, everything changes when he is lost by his owner, and after spending months in a toyshop, Edward admits that he didn’t care about anyone anymore. When I first read his bitter words, I was astounded.
Theodor “Ted” Seuss Geisel is a popular authors that’s better known as Dr. Seuss. He did not really have an easy start to his career, which is probably because of his simple writing style. His career started as an editor for high school humor magazine (About Dr. Seuss). That’s probably nothing serious but, it most likely shaped his career. Later on in his life Dr. Seuss eventually became an artist after noticing that being a literature professor was not for him (About Dr. Seuss).
Reflective Journal Entry #1 A concept I have grown much better at dealing with is accepting my own feelings and emotions – and it is something I had great difficulty with last semester. Last semester was the first time I have been independent and away from my family, and it did not start off well; I was going through middle of night insomnia and I had very low testosterone – an issue probably due to my lack of sleep – so I felt exhausted both physically and mentally. While my nature is to be positive and easy-going, I noticed my thoughts and emotions leaning towards a more pessimistic and irritable viewpoint. This was apparent to me when I was dealing with my roommate; while he is a good
George Orwell 's novel 1985, was adapted into a movie, directed by Michael Radford. The movie coincidentally came out in the year 1984 and starred John Hurt. The movie received a 7.2 out of 10 on IMDb, a popular movie rating site, which is a higher rating than most of today 's movies. Although the movie did do alright to the general public, the movie did have some flaws when compared to Orwell 's original writings. The movie did not include all of the same details, it went very quickly over many of the events and was difficult to get into and understand for those who haven 't read the book.
I didn’t win but I earned recognition for my grades and attitude. That year I earned six A’s and six O’s for outstanding. Even though I ended well, sixth grade was not the greatest year for me because I made a lot of mistakes. I forgot homework assignments and due dates. In seventh grade I plan to work even harder and achieve honor roll.
We found that the Salem Witch Trial was significant to the US’s history since it foretold the fragility of the US’s society in the past when reacting to a magical threat. However, due to the overwhelming amount of school work last year, we did not have the necessary time to do an in-depth research on this topic; therefore, we decided to do this topic for this year’s social studies fair. Most of the research came from websites that we looked up online such as www.smithsonian.com and www.history.com. However, even though we did have a rather smooth research, we encountered some bumpy milestones. At the beginning of the project all three of us took on jobs that we were quite knowledgeable of; soon after, our typer of the process paper had writer’s block and had to switch with the
In the 21th century, people have made great progress in terms of technology. People have reached to the moon and have started using great technology to make their work much easier but still people choose to make unethical and immoral decision because of their laziness so they can avoid hard work. Sometime people start thinking that they have time to complete their work later however, they forget then at the end moment they start doing it and if their work is not completed then they start making excuses. The article, “The Dog Ate My Dick and Other Tales of Woe” is written by Carolyn Foster Senegal. In this article she gives us an example of excuses that students make for not doing their work or turning in late assignment.
I also made a large, colorful poster board with all aspects of Nevada on it. In return, the teacher gave me a D on it. I still don’t know why I got that grade as my teacher could not give me a good reason for the grade. Of course my essay had a few grammatical errors, but everything else followed the project outline. The drawings weren’t as beautiful as I remembered them being, but what can you expect from a fifth grader?
