I have succeeded and failed in so many things. When I fail, I get back up and try again. I failed when I tried out for Booker T. Washington High School for Performing and Visual Arts. It was very depressing, but I got back up. This year I was trying out for Booker T. Washington High School of Preforming and Visual Art in the dance cluster. I was very exciting to even get a chance to audition for one of the biggest schools in Dallas, TX. I got prepared by practicing my dance, working on my technique and making sure I kept my grades above average. Scared out of my mind, I never showed my fear. Loving what I was about to do was the only thing on my mind. The day of my audition was the day I felt like anything and no one could stop me from succeeding.
Little did I know then that the teachers are always looking for three things; technique, confidence, and artistry. The audition was for Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory. The class was being held at the Alvin Ailey School in New York City. Being my paranoid self, I was there two hours early.
The late 19th to early 20th century was a time of differing ideologies when it came to African American advancement in the United States. On the one hand, there was the idea of self-help and economic progress that led to encouragements of black people uniting to help themselves and allowing their businesses to grow. Through this method, they would earn respect from whites and rid themselves of the prejudices that restricted and segregated them. These ideas were preached by many, but a prominent figure and spokesperson for the philosophy of accommodation was Booker T. Washington. On the contrary, there were also people who viewed expressing discontent and taking political action as the ideal way to attain rights.
I attended Henry E. Lackey High School in Indian Head MD which is in Charles County MD I attended Lackey High School my ninth and both my tenth grade years around the beginning of 2016. My last month in Lackey High School was in February, before I left Cousin Jerry and the PPW from my high school told me about Job Corps. I couldn’t stay at Lackey because of the drama going on and my cousin knew Job Corps could provide me with a high school diploma and provide direction for my life. At Lackey High School I was constantly in trouble arguing, being defiant about the rules, and not attending class.
Booker T. Washington was an African-American civil rights activist that established Tuskegee University. Booker T. Washington was born a slave and at the age of nine he was freed, thanks to the emancipation that was passed. Washington always wanted to have a good education and eventually be economically successful because most African-Americans didn’t have those privileges. As a result of this Washington worked very hard as a janitor and a teacher of an elementary school to gain his wealth, so he could eventually lead a university. In America, at the time when Washington was “building” his university, former slaves couldn’t get successful because white people didn’t want African-Americans to be better than them and/or that white people were more wealthy from birth; therefore, they were more qualified for a certain job.
When it comes to sports my family has many ties to Middletown High School South. In the Going as far back as the 1980’s when my Dad attended the same high school. He was a standout wrestler for the team and was given multiple scholarships to wrestle in college. My family name is everywhere within the trophy rooms and walls of Middletown South. I am the youngest of three children with two older sisters coming through high school before me.
Regardless, I went into the audition room, did my absolute best, and came out searching for a way to console myself. My mom took me out to eat afterwards, but instead of conversing I incessantly checked my phone every other minute for the results. Nearly an hour later, just after I arrived home, I checked the results and the trombones who made it were posted; there my name stood listed as the third best trombone. Personally, I am not the type to get excited over positive results, but this occasion was remarkably unique. My response was to literally jump up and down with glee before floating over to my door, sliding down the stairs, and telling my mom that I made it.
During the declining years of Booker T. Washington High School, parental involvement with the faculty and staff was at a record low. Parents in the community wrestled with poverty-related issues such as time, money, and energy. In addition, some single parent mothers with low levels of education may feel intimidated or alienated with structured communication regarding negative classroom or school behavior. Conversely, from the parent's perspective, it is inconceivable to choose between work and an educational conference.
Those days were always the best three weeks I 've had in my life just because I 've always wanted to be a dancer and the fact that I was able to even perform at MY party was amazing, and we always practiced for three hours, so you really know that we couldn’t mess up. Of course, we would take our little breaks in between our rehearsal, honestly what got a lot better was that I was able to dance to my favorite singer, her name is Jennifer Lopez, I 've always wanted to be like her growing up, she also dances and I let my teacher know about that and we watched her video to the song that I was going to dance too and we added a lot of her dance moves into my routine and I literally felt like I was dancing just like her. It got even better, the whole idea of it being it a surprise dance is that no one of my family member 's or anyone I knew was able to go in there with me because it would defeat the whole purpose of it being a surprise.
Booker T. Washington’s goal for African Americans after the Civil War was to educate them to cut loose from discrimination and have them rely on themselves for independent standing. As a leader of blacks in the late 19th and early 20th century, he taught his fellow colleagues how to be proper, clean, and seek employment for steadying themselves and being at the same level as whites. He believed that if his people were financially dependent on themselves, it would reflect great importance onto their ego. Although as a child he didn’t have an education and he and his family worked as slaves on the Burroughs plantation. Even after being freed and working in the coal mines in poverty, Washington was hungry for knowledge, He faced many endeavors
I was dressed in concert attire, nervous, and an hour early. I sat in the auditorium room with all the other people trying out. I eagerly waited and watched all of my competitors be pulled into audition halls that held many audition rooms. I was so scared, but I was ready to get it over
Today was the second day of the trial. A doctor testified that Peter had been sane during the school shooting, but the doctor never encountered Peter. In my point of view, people think they know the person that Peter is, by judging only from the day of the shooting. Another doctor that testified was, Dr. King Wah. This man had several interviews with Peter and concluded that Peter had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which happened because of others continually tormenting Peter.
Failure is a part of a journey to get success. After 12th grade of my high school, I took my admission exam to get into medical school. First time I failed. But I learned about exam format and type of questions. I was little disappointed because I did not expect this result, but I did not lose my enthusiasm.

He sets the tone for his memoir with vivid descriptions of the conditions of his domestic life, the conditions under which he lived from the time of his birth till the end of the civil war. The time that I have succeeded was when I was a senior in high school and decided to join cross country. It may not sound like a grand success but to me it was. I was and still am one of the laziest people ever. I have no shame in saying that because it is obviously very true. When I decided to join cross-country, no one believed me and some even ridiculed me.
Knowing that I tried my best will lead me to success. I believe that failure is a stepping stone to get to the next level. It’s harder to skip all the steps and then have instant success. The only way you would be able to bypass failure in the early stages is to be talented. With talent, you will need to work hard, but not as hard as the average person to get where you want to be.
