Football was a lot more glamorous. So, shortly after the first weeks of school, came the first day of freshman football tryouts. Each day, we all walked up the hill to a practice field dressed in jeans and a sweatshirt and ran through a series of wind sprints and passing and catching drills. Every once in a
“If what you did yesterday seems big, you haven’t done anything today.” – Lou Holtz. This has always been my mindset from when I was in little league until now. Although, I have faced some adversity along the way, this quote always pushes me to do better and better each and every day. First, I was about four or five years old playing what was then flag football. I played line, but I occasionally got to run the ball and I never will forget the first time I scored.
I still love to watch and talk about football, but I could never play the sport again. Keep in mind I finished out high school football, but I stopped liking it years ago. I think that is because during football I have built friendships and connections that will last a lifetime. I remember the first time I played football. It was thanksgiving at my dad's house in Nebraska.
Sometimes I got a chance to play at the last monuments of the game. We had so many good times at that time. We learned from our mistakes and from our experiences. On the other hand, we had some problems .All the team members had one big dreams that was to play and to represent Denver Ethiopian community team. Weatherspoon now plays for the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL and has been very successful. My family and I always had a special dinner every night whether it was in the hotel or somewhere in town, that was one of the best parts of the trip for me. There was this big carpet shaped in a circle and on new year's eve after eating dinner we got the football out and we played a big family game, that was a real enjoyment until we got kicked off of it because we weren’t aloud to play there. The next day after that amusement was game
I also have a deep love for football as many of the kids in this story did. The kids in this story talked about how when they were young they would go to the games on Friday nights, and dream about what the future for them would be like. They could not wait to play for the Permian school district, and be the town heroes. This aspect of the story for me was so relatable. I too would go to Scott City Beaver games when I was young, and dream about what my future would hold as a football player.
He went to college at Columbia on a football scholarship but ended up playing football and baseball for Columbia. He was immediately recruited by the New York Yankees once spotted by a scout. Gehrig played 2,130 consecutive games and helped lead the Yankees to a world series. The first baseman was a vital part of the New York Yankees and became the team MVP and a very respected player to all. Gehrig’s speech also uses Ethos when he says, “I have been in ballparks for seventeen years”.
1. One of the most inspiring things in any athlete’s life is there coach. I know from personal experience. Football surrounded me during my entire childhood. My father played football for Colorado State University when I was born. Then, he received the opportunity to play professionally for seven more years in the NFL. As a kid, my family cheered our dad at the games in the massive stadiums with thousands of other fans. 4th grade was the year when it was my chance to play just like my dad.
