While assessing my reflective on individual practices and precepts, I have appraised high for all areas aside from environmental ambiguity, which I find to some degree hard to handle easily. My foundation of nursing practice is built upon my core principle of integrity, beacuse my faith in Bible reveals that, ”Whoever walks in integrity will be delivered, but he who is crooked in his ways will suddenly fall” (Proverbs 28:18, New International Version). I believe only a true person can be a successful leader. Being truthful to my commitment as a nurse, I will never discriminate anyone who needs care. Nursing is divine profession and God wanted me to provide care for diverse people. While providing care for people with different beliefs and
This last week was not the best. I might've bombed my Chemistry final; I studied for days from the book and practice exams. The test was nothing like I expected it to be, and now my hopes of getting into the nursing program are going down the drain. I still need to find out what I got, but I just feel defeated. Thank you for your prayers, I need them right now.
My instructor was a spunky woman. She stood at 5’4 with long, brown locks. She possessed a big personality and an even bigger aspiration for her career. On the first day of class she told us she was a registered nurse. She presented her career as emotionally fulfilling and gratifying.
As such, my personal worldview as it relates to patients is that every patient, deserves undivided attention, my abilities to care for them, and the skill level that I have learned in my years of practice. Regardless of who the patient is, their background, physical look, behaviors, or religion they merit my expertise. Although at times, I do not agree with the person that is in my care, such as prisoners, and the crime that they have committed it is my responsibility to provide the same care that I would provide to others. In other words, my philosophy of life that answers all the most fundamental questions of human existence, is that everyone needs to be treated equally (Tilburt, 2010). Hence, the approach to my patients is holistic in that clinicians cannot afford to dismiss or be easily be swayed into individual health beliefs irrespective of their
The first thing I would say about today was thought provoking. What I mean by that is it appears that everyone has different organizational skills. Plus not everyone thinks at the same speed or reacts in the same way. Anyways, I noticed throughout today that I was sometimes one step ahead of my nurse. I was even able to help him find different areas of the charting when he got confused, where something in particular was in the charting.
One of the core principles of Dr. Watson’s theory is the “Cultivation of one’s own spiritual practice toward wholeness of mind/body/spirit—beyond ego.” (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2010) One concept for attaining this is to have a “Moral commitment to protect and enhance human dignity” (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2010) One way I see that a nurse can achieve this is to treat everyone with kindness and compassion and to remember that all humans are equal no matter what their station in life happens to
My passion for healthcare lies with patient care. I enjoy taking care of patients and their family. I have chosen to become a family nurse practitioner because I can combine nursing and medicine to provide a higher level of care to my patients. As a nurse practitioner will be able to make an impact on my patient’s health through, health promotion, disease prevention, managing acute and chronic conditions and improving patient’s health (Wynne,
A personal philosophy of nursing allows nurses to guide and shape their practice. As Molzahn & Shields states, "we are in the privileged position of working closely with human beings and helping them deal with many aspects of the human condition" (2008, p.25). By working daily with patients who all have distinct and unique healthcare experiences, I believe that it is crucial to have a set of values and ethics that guide how we care for our patients. By holding Christian beliefs and values, I believe that it is important to care for other people the way Jesus cares for us, and to take time to notice the little glimpses of Christ shown in other people. When thinking about how I can have an impact on my patients, I keep in mind that "for most people, most of the time, God comes to us in the valleys and plains of life" (Doornbos, Groenhout, & Hotz, 2005, p.21).
My faith allows me the interact with my client on a different level. As a Christian, and firm believer in Christ, help me encourage my patient and give hope of a better future. My family is the second most essential values. When nurses can relate to their patient 's values, it forms a trust relationship. Just taking the talk about each other 's children can form a bond.
Waking up was always easy. The morning freeze painted the walls in my room until even my blanket was insignificant. I crawled out of bed and slipped into my favorite t-shirt and jeans, topping it off with the sweatshirt my father had given me. I grabbed the nearest rubber band I could find and tied my hair up. I, unlike most kids, didn’t care so much about my appearance.
Nursing has always been a passion of mine, especially labor and delivery nursing. While others in my class would cringe away from the birth video in my freshman health class, I watched in fascination, tearing up at how natural and joyous childbirth was. When I told my parents, they were hesitant when it came to their support. My mother thought it was a messy job that required too much liability insurance. Unfortunately for her I was headstrong and refused to listen.
My Mission Statement: My mission is to motivate, inspire, and commit, to my family, and freedom for individuals, families and colleagues. When constructing my mission statement I found it a little challenging, because I felt like I had to search within myself and what aspired me thus far. As nurses may aspire at least one person a day, and to me that’s all that counts.
Nursing is a responsibility to provide the finest care regardless of the patient’s age, race, religion, sex, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or their past. Nurses must keep up to date on education, new processes, policies and keep informed about new laws and regulations in healthcare, so outstanding healthcare can be administered. As a nurse, you have undertaken a responsibility to provide people the finest quality care that can possibly receive. It is a nurses’ duty to follow the code of ethics, to act
As a nursing student, I have a grasp on what nursing is through textbooks and lectures. The more I learn about this profession, the more I learn about what my philosophy is. Although I haven’t gained clinical experience as a nurse, I have gained some clinical experience as a nurse assistant that helps me administer patient care while acquiring knowledge working under the supervision of nurses. This experience helps me to become knowledgeable on what their roles and responsibilities are, and it has inspired me that I hope when I graduate, to equal their skill, diligence and passion.
