Sorry about the lost of your dad, I can related a little with you because my grand mother also passes away in Dominican Republic a few years ago and I did not wanted to see her death so I decide to stay here , however she used to do hand embrodery so I asks my mother if she could bring me one of the one she have done and she did bring one that I kept in my nightstand to remember her life and the type of relationship my gandmother and I used to
It reminds me of the great memories I had with her, the way she was able to make me laugh, and how she was there for me, even though she lived in California, it always felt like she was always there right by my side. This is an item that I will always carry with
There were rice plants on my left and farm animals on my right. I grew up in New York City, so you can imagine the millions of questions that were running through my head. I’d never been to the countryside of the Dominican Republic before, but when I finally did, I couldn’t be more ecstatic, despite the scorching Caribbean sun burning down on my brown skin. I hadn’t visited the Dominican Republic since I was four years old. All I had was vague memories of my grandmother’s boisterous laugh and the chickens in the backyard I loved chasing after.
Growing up in Honduras was quite an experience. I come from a hard working family where both of my parents went through several obstacles to provide me and my siblings a stable life. Honduras is a country that is consider a third-world country where economy along with delinquency are a big issue, but my parents still manage to provide the sources for me and my other two siblings on what it is necessary. My family and I were affected by organized crime, a day where my life was changed forever. It was a Friday afternoon when my brother and my father were kidnapped, they had left to a soccer game.
19 years ago today in a Hispanic house hold two parents three siblings and the world to conquer. Screaming, laughing, learning and growing molded this one young lady to overcome all statics .Factors such as birthplace, extracurricular activities and the simple thing she couldn’t control, her origin were deciding factors for where she is present day. New York, the city that never sleeps, a city diverse in all aspects of life, the city where it all started. 18 years growing up in Harlem wasn’t all it was cracked up to be especially for a young Hispanic female. Being surrounded with drugs, violence and public disobedience were some of the easiest of distractions that I encountered every day.
It is almost two in the morning, and we still have not been able to see her. Five days have passed by, and the presence of my mother was non-existent. School is out for the weekend; time to have fun and mess around and the sight of her brings a smile to our faces. The days fly by fast, and she goes missing once again.
When I was living Guatemala I was living a alone with my son Franklyn Alexis Santiago Tercero-Jacinto. His father did not want to have anything to do with us and left us about four years ago. I was living alone and I did fear that something could happen for the reason that is very unsafe and crime is well known to happen. On June 26,2016 was a date that marked my life I was rapped by a man named Miguel Angel Lopez. He was a man that would go to the restaurant where I worked to eat.
“No man is lonely eating spaghetti; it requires so much attention. ”- Christopher Morley The quote above displays individual desire love and attention to fulfill their loneliness. It reminds me of Russell Banks’ short story, “My Mother’s Memoirs, My Father’s Lie, and Other True Stories.”
One home remedy that I remember that my Mexican grandmother, called guelita, does, is that she would always use an egg and plant, called ruta, and will begin to rub both the plant and the egg all around our whole family’s body. As a kid I remember each time I spend the night over at my guelita’s house, she will grab an egg and a piece of the ruta plant and tell to stand still, so she can start rubbing the egg and plant all over my body every time right before I go to sleep. And every time I ask her why does she do that, she explains to me is that, all she is doing is blessing me and getting rid of any bad spirits or the evil eye from me and that it will also help me get a good night sleep in the night. To me the whole thing is something I don’t really believe in but glad that my guelita cares about her
My grandfather asked me “Which one?” I respond “Let’s get this one”. Little did I know that guinea pig was my dinner. Guinea pigs or cuy are not pets but food in Ecuador. When I arrived at the airport it looked like any typical airport, but it felt as if I was in a different world.
In my life ive had lots of memorable events , but the most unforgettable one was my graduation trip to Cancun Mexico. when I first found out I was going to this trip I thought it would be so easy as in just get up and go, but no this trip took tons of planing, the most important part of this trip was getting my passport that took about five weeks to arrive, once I received my passport then I was able to start booking my flight, that's when the excitement started, then I booked my hotel. I took care of all the important things then I started looking into placing and things I would be visiting such as beaches, water parks, entertainment shows, shopping centers, restaurants, etc The day arrived off we go to Cancun my boyfriend, friends and I, We got to the airport early that morning went thought security then we grabbed are tickets found are gate number then took a sit while we wait for the plane
Last summer I went on vacation to Puerto Rico with my cousins. We did really fun things like snorkeling, a boat ride, and eating at many wonderful places. Although all those sound really fun, I want to talk about the time I met the most cutest, most fluffiest, most friendliest, animal ever. It all started off on a breezy summer night while my cousins and family were chillin’ at our hotel pool.
The person I observed for this assignment was my mother, Tricia Onus. I observed my mother for two days because I wanted to write a detailed paragraph on the things she did and why she did them. I noticed within those two days of careful examination of her day that she is very clean, during the time of inspection very angry, and precise. The way I came to the conclusion of my mother being rather clean is her daily shower ritual. A ritual is a religious or solemn ceremony consisting of a series of actions performed according to a prescribed order.
My grandmother Vidalia Garcia was born on September 15th, 1945 and was later adopted by Pedro and Herlinda Garcia in 1946 when she was One years old. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting my great grandparents from what my grandmother could tell me in her interview they were pretty strict. She didn’t have much of a childhood growing up her parents were always around and anytime she wanted to go out to the movies they would always have to go with her or else she wasn’t allowed to go. Being able to have private conversations on a cell phone unlike today is not the easiest task to do. On September 11th, 1946 we had the 1st mobile long distance car to car telephone conversation.
A few hours after my mother passed, I decided to go home and take out all her clothes; I wanted to remind myself of all the great moments we had. I found her exquisitely shining coarse hair on her blue elegant dress. I could feel her alleviating presence whilst holding her fascinating attire. I said my final goodbyes... it was heartbreaking.
It’s fun occasion my family does on July 4th every two years. Also want to carry on a tradition of going to our loved ones grave to make sure the flowers stay fresh and to visit them in the spiritual sense. When my brother named Tylor Daniel Hicks committed suicide it brought me closer to my mom dad and my brother Justin Hicks who I really love he’s been there for me through everything that has gone on in my life stuff I haven’t told my parents I could tell my brother because he was always there for me. This brought me close to my grandparents on both sides it woke me up I was close with my brother and all we had our good times and bad times like siblings do but it made me tell every family member I love you whenever we finish talking or our conversation.
