I was doing my internship in LaGuardia Community College. LaGuardia Community College is one of the many two year institutions that is part of CUNY, New York City’s Public Colleges. CUNY is a public university system that offers an affordable, well-rounded college education. My job title is Lab Tech and I was stationed in the B-building. I was working directly under Mercedes Acosta who is the supervisor of the Lab Techs in Math Engineering and Computer Science (MECS) department at LaGuardia Community College.
My first responsibility was to maintain the labs. This meant updating the machines with any software upgrades and shutting them down at night. My second responsibility is to help both professors and students with networking issues. If they couldn 't connect to the internet or needed to set up something in the LaGuardia network, it

The most valuable was brushing up and finally mastering all my technical skill I have been honing since Fall 2014. It feels as if every class I had taken had culminated into this internship. I also received valuable experience and taken notes of them during my internship. These records will be extremely valuable for any future certifications I plan to go for such as the CCNA Security exam I hope to take next year. The gift of knowledge can only be rivaled by the other gifts I received that will forward my career. I received a dream spark account which gives access to useful software from Microsoft such as Visual Studio for C++, SQL Server, Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 Pro, among many others. I also got the valuable gift of Cisco IOS files. These files allow me to replicate all the projects I did during the internship and in Professor Walter 's Computer Networking Class. I wished there was more time to learn new things during the internship. The six weeks went through fast and with three other classes in between, I did manage to get the most I could from

Upon arriving to Miami Dade College, you will never imagine all the resources offered to students to succeed during their scholastic years. I’ve been lucky enough to been advised by some of the best staff at their Interamerican campus. From their advisement office to their profoundly knowledgeable professors. As a current student of ENC1102, we were required to attend one section with a tutor at the writing center. I always thought I had sufficient knowledge of the English language and taking time out of my busy schedule to attend a section with a tutor was absurd.
my Wilmington id: kchep43681, I had applied for a transfer student. When I was was younger, I was a caterpillar crawling around trying to get through life, waiting to turn into the beautiful butterfly I know I could soon become. I made good decisions along with bad ones, saw the beauty in life as well as the unpleasant. I was like everyone else trying to be their own person, but now as I look at myself in the mirror I can finally see who I really am. I see myself as the beautiful butterfly I once dreamed of becoming, ready to fly down my own path. I have been in my chrysalis and I am finally out and ready to fly into my bright future.
I am first generation college student. I started Florida Gulf Coast University four years after I migrated from Jamaica along with my Dad, in pursuits of “an opportunity”- something that is very scarce outside of the continental United States. Before coming to FGCU, I went to Miramar High School; I graduated with honors and promised my Dad that within four years I would bring home my bachelors degree in Finance. August 14th, 2013 marked move in day at Florida Gulf Coast University. My first few weeks at Florida Gulf Coast University introduced me to the dreariest days and nights of my life.
This milestone helped me to see the value in learning and gave me the confidence to go after an education I had all but given up on. When I transferred to San Quentin,I immediately enrolled in the college program offered through Patten University. The coolest thing about Patten compared to other prison college programs is that they bring in grad students from surrounding colleges like UC Berkeley and University of SF to help teach and tutor over 20 different classes per semester. Another major plus was that things like tuition, books, and class materials were
These projects granted me invaluable experiences and lessons. Being a link crew leader allowed me to see what it was like to be a mentor- as I soon became one. I spent time learning how to accommodate students and gathered advice by reflecting on past experiences I had as a high schooler. This led me to make much more meaning of my experiences and utilize them to help others. I walked my group of freshmen through a series of activities and I tied those activities with real life scenarios so that I better prepared them for their upcoming journey.
Awe, the fresh wind blowing in my hair a beautiful view of a Nice calm pond and the sound of angels coming from a coming from a Distance. This is my perfect little spot at Miami Dade College. In my little Spot I do my homework or wait for my next class. Its the best place on the whole campus to be. Breath in and smell the fresh air.
I was ten years old when I first heard about NYU. I needed braces, and my medicaid insurance required my mother take me to NYU’s College of Dentistry to determine if I was eligible for them. I remember the first appointment vividly, for until that appointment my mother, as a single parent, rarely had the time to take me anywhere outside of our poor working class neighborhood of Corona, Queens, let alone into Manhattan. Stepping out of the train at 23rd St, had felt like stepping out onto a whole new planet. I remember at school, my teachers had always talked about about how lucky we were to live in a great city like NYC, but it wasn’t until that moment that I understood what they meant.
I am a leader, a whole hearted person that believes in the greater good, a selfless individual, an intellectual young adult, and a brave character, and it is on account of these qualities that I feel Montclair State University is the school for me. Being that I am an individual that has matured intellectually, emotionally, and now has the motivation needed to seek a positive trajectory and path in life, and I believe this school could only help further my growth as a person and strengthen my academic abilities. Writing has always been one of my strong suits and it is the best method I’ve learned as a way to express myself. Growing up, I had a rough childhood, and it was through reading and writing that I learned to better my perspective towards life.
While I do not consider it a failure now at the time I was definitely frustrated with myself and considered it a failure. When I had to repeat my junior year I was mad at myself for not be able to complete the school year. As time went on I was able to focus on the positives in the situation and I was able to finally accept that I was not prepared for my senior year both emotionally and academically considering I missed so much school. If I did continue on to senior year I would not have been close to prepared as I am now for college. I ended up repeating my junior year due to the fact that I missed close to two-thirds of school due to a medical condition.
I graduated back in 2013 from a pretty decent school district. During high school I wasn’t an A student or a B student, I just did what I needed in order to pass. Once I got to my junior of high school I started taking things more seriously, I started making A’s and B’s. Once my senior year started the pressure was on. Everyone asking “what college are you thinking about attending?”
I can contribute my hard work to the Honors College community. I think that I am hardworking and I love to work with others to help solve problems because two heads are always better than one. I would contribute my ideas to the lessons and help others when they need it. I love to be able to work with other people outside my comfort zone and be able to hear their ideas and combine ideas to come up with something that will benefit everyone in the community.
Little did I know that a year later I would be flown out to Florida and stay at a resort with friends for a week, all expenses paid for by the California Institute of Technology. It is amazing what filling out a piece of paper can do to change the course of your
I am a member of many different associations at Canyon High School, but the club that has made the most impact in my life is Leadership. Leadership is a selective program on campus that invites students who have shown leadership qualities to improve them to make a bigger impact. I was nominated into the program my freshman year and have carried on with the program all throughout high school. The club’s main focus is to encourage students to use their leadership qualities to prevent and stop bullying. As nominees, we undergo a two-day training session that exposes us to ways to improve ourselves and those around us.
