It was the moment I had been practicing for. I was finally going to try out for my middle school cheer team and hopefully make it. I was so excited I could barely focus on my classes that day. I had run through all of the steps at least 50 times that day. I had always wanted to do cheerleading and this was my moment to do it.
There are a lot of sports that you can play that are fun to play and watch! Cheerleading is one of the best sports ever created. Most people think cheerleading is not a sport but I am here to tell you that CHEERLEADING IS A SPORT. Some of the best cheer teams are World Cup, Cheer Athletics, Spirit of Texas, Woodland Elite, and Cheer Xtreme. All of these gyms have been to big competitions like Worlds and Summit.
Cheerleading should get more recognition and be on the television more than when there's nationals. What these girls can pull off is truly amazing. Finally, cheerleading is most definitely a sport and it deserves more
After getting the routines all ready the teams compete against each other in competitions that can be local, regional, national, or worldwide. The national competitions tend be more and important and can also be shown on TV. Sideline cheerleading is the type of cheer done in high school. Many people attacked her for what she did. Although, others thought she was brave and strong. Nonetheless, she made history on this day! Lynette Woodard is still healthy and alive. She is doing her best and foremost to share her story and train young girls of all races to play basketball.
As a proud member of the Mercedes Tiger Band color guard and drill team, a lifetime goal for me would be to join a marching band and/or college dance team. Coming into high school I never thought my passion would be to be performing in front of hundreds of people every Friday Night for four years. It has become my passion and it brings me much joy to perform and have the time of my life on that football field. I have had an amazing four years participating in many extracurricular activities but I have found that my biggest passion is colorguard.
Volleyball has been my passion since the sixth grade, I love it with all my heart, and could not imagine my life without it. This past summer I had the opportunity to attend the Concordia College volleyball camp in St. Paul with a few friends from Sartell. It has been sometime since I’ve participated in one of these camps, and I was a bit hesitant about going because I did not know what was expected of me. My mother had signed me up, as she believed that the skills I would learn would make me a better player, truth was, I was not so sure. I told my mom, “I won’t know anybody, and the girls there will be more experienced than me.”
Everything fell into its place, and I finally discovered what I loved most. I am so grateful I never quit after that first practice, cheer has shaped who I am today. I’m now a captain and three year cheerleader at Brighton, 2 year United Spirit Association All-American Athlete, and planning to cheer in college. Cheer has given me so much, my best friends, a great relationship with my school and a positive high school experience. I have no idea who or where I would be today if I decided to quit that first horrible practice.
Essay 1 I never thought this sport would change me, and shape me to the person I am now. I didn’t start at a young age like most athletes did I started around high school in my sophomore year, and what got me into it was that I wanted to try something new maybe I could potentially be good at it. And it changed my whole experience of sports that I’ve done, and this sport was wrestling which shaped me into the person I am now. It gave me confidence, showed me what motivation is, and it also showed me what dedication felt like.
After missing five years of formal education, I enrolled back in school for my junior year and knew almost instantly that I had made the right decision. I surprised myself by excelling in areas of study I never thought I would again have time to entertain. I saw my potential as limitless, with a whole world of possibilities opening back up to me. Even though it often felt like a vital part of my identity was gone, my thirst for knowledge in my new life had grown in its place. I tried desperately not to look at leaving ballet as a failure, but it wasn’t until recently when I returned to a ballet class after twelve years that I finally understood the gift it had granted me.
And I was that guy. We won every game but one without me, the one game we lost was to the Honeybadgers. The team we were playing in the championship. The Honeybadgers have never lost, they won every single game and every single championship since our league started in 1972. (You do the math because I 'm
My perseverance helped me adjust to the situation I was put in and let me overcome my injury. This skill has definitely assisted me in many things in addition to missing out on my junior year softball season. For example, I grew up in an interfaith family. As a result of this, I got used to always having different holidays and family events to participate
When I was young, money was not a big deal when I asked for something. If I wanted it, I begged my mom to get it for me. I never understood why I was unable to get the new toy that just came out, or the new shoes that every girl was about to have on Monday morning when I walked through the doors of Gretna Middle School. The summer before I started middle school, I decided to join a volleyball team. Needless to say, I fell in love with the game and continually tried to better my performance.
Through the four years as a high school cheerleading coach, I developed a new cheerleading program by promoting events and secured sponsors for team expenses, all the while infusing the essence of team work in the members and improvising their techniques. By coaching I have developed strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, in addition to good observational and motivational dexterity. These skills will allow me to effectively schedule sessions, communicate successfully with clients, clients’ caregivers, supervisors, and clinicians. Coaching has enabled me to identify errors and provide realistic feedback, therefore this skill will enhance my performance with my clients by identifying problems and developing solutions to enhance the correct behavior.
There are regulations that are not stated because the athletes are expected to know them all. Overall the individuals in the discourse community are essentially the same, sharing common interests and slight personality traits. I chose the Track and Field team as one of my discourse communities because track has played an important role in my life and I have been running track sine the ninth grade. I have been too many city championships and state championships and I have also been too the junior Olympics. While on the track team it kept my physically fit, it gave me motivation to pass my classes and made me determined to beat my time over and over again.
