Helping our veterans should be mandatory because of their sacrifice. Even though some people believe war veterans acquire enough from the Government, others believe they deserve more for their services. Veterans of the United States of America should not be homeless since they fought for our country with a sense of bravery and commitment. Therefore, the Department of Veterans Affairs should be reconstructed, also expanded to meet the growing need of our veterans. Moreover, our countrymen had a choice to become anything they wanted, but they chose to defend our great country and freedom we so graciously enjoy.
As the great American author Mario Puzo one said, “The strength of a family, like the strength of an army, lies in its loyalty to each other.”This is saying that loyalty gives people the ability to work together and succeed in anything they set out to do. In The Odyssey, written by Homer and translated by Robert Fagles, they really learn the power on relying on one another and seeing why loyalty is so really important in life and so nothing can get in the way to succeed in life. And as the story is going through the journeys of Odysseus he learns different way to get all the tasks and challenges done and still try to find a way home to get back to his wife and his only child. Even though he does put his crew in some unpromising situations,
He uses ethos in two different quotes. The first being, “It ought to be the axiomatic in this country that every man must devote a reasonable share of his time doing his duty in the political life of the community.” He also uses it when he says, “I think we ought to be broad minded to recognize the fact that a good citizen, striving with fearlessness, honesty and common sense to the best for the nation” (McKay). In both of these quotes Roosevelt is proposing what he thinks, but he is saying it in a way that it is almost a question. It forces the audience to ask themselves if that is how they think as well, and if it isn’t it causes them to think deeper about it. Which overall, was Roosevelt 's
I think honoring veterans is so important because they have done so much for us. They had to put themselves in danger everyday, and they still kept us safe. They protected our country no matter what it took even if it meant they might never see there family again. So veterans should be remembered with respect and honored
The speech was used as a tool to motivate his men. He wanted them to not be afraid, and focus on what they where there to do, protect their homes and families that they love so much. All though the soldiers where scared and uncertain, Patton gave them words of encouragement to help them get the job done. General Patton’s speech brings up a lot of ideas that I think are really important. Things like; death, family, freedom, choices, unity, and doing things for the good of man.
Hero’s Journey can be implicated at life because people have all these adventures that they do not plan out. If someone choses to do something with their life and make them matter to people then they will most likely experience all parts of Hero’s Journey. “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.” (Campbell) These are wise words spoken by Joseph Campbell. In my opinion the person that fits this description based on what I think is Bernie Sander. He is fighting for equal rights of all people.
Give back to them for all of their hard toil. Being a child of immigrant parents makes you appreciate life so much because everyday it’s an opportunity to be the best you can be to make everyone around you proud. My parents can’t got back to school and get an education so being able to see me succeed is worth their hard work. My parents have taught me to never give up. I know that some doors may be closed on me but that doesn’t mean other doors won’t open.
When Kennedy said, “In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger.” He was trying to say that us Americans are privileged and lucky to be in this country, and we should be honored to serve for such a great nation. JFK also needs us to be very devoted to fighting for our country. “Year in and year out”, Americans have struggled. Even though it is very challenging, they still realize how important their country is, and the other Americans must do the same. JFK also needs us as Americans to realize that we need bodies to help serve.
President Obama, and the previous presidents have endeavored to “preserve the state in a sea of insecurity” (Jones and Smith n.pag). This is indeed, what Machiavelli’s Art of War proposes. As Commander-in-Chief, Obama implied the following in his speech that: “The virtu of the soldiers is worth more than a multitude, and the site is often of more benefit than virtu” (Evans n.pag). The commitment of the State is, therefore, to serve the men and women in uniform who have served the country by risking their lives. Thus, the virtu of the United States of America, and its statecraft (as Jones and Martin put it) is firmly based in the principles proposed by Obama in his speech.
Another particularly part of the speech that caught my eyes is towards the end when Lincoln says" The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it,far above our poor power to add or detract" to me he is showing honor for the soldiers who fought for the country. Lincoln's speech is very powerful because he made a change. It is also still remembered because it was a turning point in the civil war. What was challenging in this assignment was being able to read in between lines, at some point there were times I had to reread to get what he meant for example, the speech wasn’t just about the war as I finally read it for the 20th time . Although the speech speaks for itself, there were some confusing parts that I later understood.
Being assured that my family is okay is very important to me and to know that they are safe as long as I am there. It would also mean that I cannot fight for my country or the freedom of it. Helping my country can prevent the worsening conditions of taxation and people being put in prisons for having their own beliefs. I have decided to re-enlist for
He will protect his teammates and his country no matter what the cost is.The hall of fame will be giving one new “Bravery award” to one great person this year. Marcus Luttrell should receive the award for bravery because he will and protect his teammates no matter the cost and had done it in battle before. Marcus Luttrell had to be brave in many situations. Marcus will be receiving the award for bravery. According to Marcus Luttrell.com’s bio, it says that “Luttrell was the only survivor.
I know you can win this war!” The reason it’s making me re-enlist is because the people need my help to get their freedom just like my friend. And I will get it for them and my friend. I will do what I can and besides I want to die for honor and purpose for my country than to die with nothing to live for and no reason to
When you turn on the nightly news and all you see is the bad in the world, the hurt, and the corruption that has engulfed us as a society, it is nice to see someone do something not because they will get paid or become famous, but because they know its simple the right thing to do. This story fits the concept of a hero most similar to Bernardo’s explaination of a hero. Riggs’ saved his family and risked his life not because thats what people would expect but because he had the responsiblity to take care of them. Just like Bernardo states, he did this “because he loves them and wants to”. Riggs displayed the kind of courage it takes to be a hero.
The theme applies to our lives in our society because we shouldn’t be afraid when it comes to the point where you need to make a difference or save lives by risking your own life considering that there are people who died with honor or became amazing heroes from doing this and they are not afraid since they know that they are doing the right thing like protecting the people who need their help. This story motivated me to not be afraid to risk your for others and to not be a bystander to violence. I would totally recommend this book to others who are interested in historical fiction, adventure stories about sailing, and
