I always dreamed of celebrating a state tournament berth with my teammates, and the summer of 2013 I got to do that. But I had no clue what was about to happen that summer. The state tournament consisted of mostly metro teams whose population ranged from 20,000 to 200,000. We were the town of 3,000 heading into the state tournament just hoping we wouldn’t take last. I’ll never forget the time my baseball team won state because it made me realize that even though we are a very trivial town, we can still do very immense things. When the pools were released for the tournament we saw that we were the smallest team in our pool by far. It consisted of Apple Valley, Owatonna, and Prior Lake. We had to win two of those games to make it to bracket play. My team and I arrived on a Friday evening on which was a beautiful evening to play baseball. The auburn colored sunset was shining bright in center field. Our first game we got throttled by Apple Valley and were on the verge of elimination. …show more content…
It was a showdown, us against Minnetonka. Our team scarlet colored jerseys, and they wore their royal colored jerseys. I was pitching the championship game and I got plenty of run support early as we took a six to nothing lead. I pitched five shutout innings and gave the ball to Brandon Gill to get the last six outs. We lost our mojo a little bit when they scored four runs heading into the last inning. I was playing shortstop; Brandon struck the first and second kids out. He was throwing gas as he just blew his fastball by the first two hitters. The ball hitting the glove sounded like a shotgun. We only needed one more out to win a state title. Brandon rared back and fired the ball towards home. The ball hit the bat and made a loud “ding” as the ball rolled right back to Brandon who picked it up and fired it to first. I could hear the crowd roar as we all dog piled in front of the mound. I had never been so exultant in my
The first pitch crack of the ball off the bat a triple. The next 3 kids hit doubles. The first Batter was up to the plate. He had hit the ball right to our third basemen, but he fielded it too quick and bobbled it. The batter had made it to first base.
December 3 2015 was the Newton Railers seventh grade basketball team second away game. I was waiting all day for the basketball game it seemed like the day was endless. Finally 2:50 came up on the clock to let me know it was time to leave class and get ready to get on the bus. I got all my gear and got on the bus. I put my headphones on a got pumped for our game.
The announcer said who got second place, and everyone on my team started crying. “ The first place team advancing to Florida is the La Porte Slicers!” My team stood up and started screaming. As a result, we made it to Florida! My coach went up to get our trophy and we all took pictures with it.
Where Berent, Cael, Trevor, Xavier, and I drove up to play for the state cup. The rest of the team was with their parents but we decided to carpool to save money. We were all joking around until we figured out that we were going to play the older tempo team, Tempo Blaze. At first, we thought that this would be a sweep, that we would win the whole tournament without worrying, but know we have to play the team that has never lost this year and we have never beaten for as
Here we were the last tournament of the year. We were in the championship. Towards the end of the game I was on third base, we were down one run then the worst hitter on the team came up, Owen. Of course he hit it right to the first baseman. Unfortunately we got second.
I had a baseball game against the White Sox. When I got down there I found out I wasn’t pitching first, so I waited till it was my turn to pitch and when it finally happened it was 5-5 in the top of the 4th and I pitched a no-hitter. Finally it was the bottom of the 5th and still 5-5 and I came up to bat against Kaden Eugenio and he threw it right down the middle
The umpire calls, “Strike one!” I thought it wasn’t a strike, but I went with it because I didn’t want to get into a fight. I step out of the box, fix my batting gloves and take another swing the get back in. The next pitch comes and you could hear a “DING”. I swung and hit it down the right field line.
Seventh game, bottom of the 10th and the Chicago Cubs were up 8-7 against the Cleveland Indians with 2 outs. One out, one pitch, one play and it could happen, for the first time in 108 years we could win. One home run and we would lose it all. My dad and I nervously glance at the bases, one hitter, and one player on first. Mike Montgomery throws the pitch.
SWISH! “YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!” yelled everyone on the bench. We all stood up and started cheering. There were 12.4 seconds left, we were up by one
Then… “WHACK!” the ball was hit high in the sky like it was flying. Everyone stood up as we watched ball zoom across the field. The center fielder was
I yelled “Swing” at stetsons players. I asked my dad “ Can I get a ball?” he told me “Go ask for one,” because there was a girl that gets
I was sitting on the bench in the last inning of our fourth game wondering if I was ever going to get to play when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned to see my coach gazing down at me. He gave me a sly grin and said, "get a helmet, you 're on deck. " I had to swallow my shock. I jumped up and hurried over to the on deck circle.
I gave it my all and pitched like there was no tomorrow. As we were nearing the end of the game the score was close, but we were ahead by one point. It had just become and even more intense that it already was. Every single person was on the edge of their seat waiting to see who would win it all. My team was up to bat
Championship game day, the game started off good and we were really close, tied as a matter of fact until the bottom of the sixth it was the last inning we had to hold them to go to extra innings. One runner got walked the next got a hit so the first runner got to third then we got two outs. Then their best hitter comes up and it was a full count and he hits a single and they win. Now Briggs and I were very competitive, so we took it pretty hard.
My team began to rally back it was bases loaded and I was up with one out. The other team had changed pitchers to try to get them out of this crucial situation. I stepped up to the plate and took a strike the count 0-1, the next pitch came it looked like a small white snowball, and I swung my bat and managed to hit the ball. I began to start praying that I hadn't lost the game by hitting it to one of the fielders that would make the out. The ball kept going and going until it had finally went over the fence to be a grand slam.
