“Here there are dozens, hundreds, all jammed in together, cheek by jowl, especially in the dizzying cities.”(Jen 354). The first meal my dad had, when he stepped off that plane was a big mac from McDonalds. He was instantly amazed when he had his first American meal, in Vietnam all he ate was rice. Growing up in Vietnam my father had rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Every single meal was the same as yesterday, last week and last month.
This past summer, my family took a road trip to Southern California to visit family and friends. While we were there I was able to hear stories of when I was younger, as well as a few about my parents. California was in the middle of a large drought, which made the air excruciatingly hot, so we visited the beach to cool off. I walked out onto the very edge of the wave break, the waves pounding against the rocks and spraying me with their salty drops. As I looked towards the horizon, I was reminded of how amazing God 's creation truly is.
It was amusing to be swimming in weather as warm as fire, in February! Second of all, I did so much things that involved water that wasn’t swimming. Crazily, I went snorkeling for the first time with my dad, the water was as cold as ice, and when I was in the Gulf of Mexico, I saw a whole bunch of starfish and went starfish hunting! We caught 17 starfish! Then to end the weekend, my sister and I went parasailing!
My friends and I drove down to the beach a day later than my parents, so when we arrived there my parents were already there. We went to the beaches in Stone Harbor and Avalon, to go surfing. I had never been surfing and neither had one of my friends, however my other friend was a pretty good surfer, he had surfed for most of his life and was willing to teach us in the art of surfing. When we reached the beach it was after five in the evening and the lifeguards had left and we were ready to start surfing. We rushed into the water right when we stepped on the beach, the water was only a little bit colder than the water in my pool that and swam out to the small rough waves. Close to shore the small rough waves made it hard for us to get out to the big blue Crashing waves farther out.
Three of the most memorable moments I had in 5th grade was going to Catalina Island, going to the California Science Museum, and reading “Shoe Dog.” My first memory I am going to share with you is when we went to Catalina Island for a week. Sleeping in the cabins were one of the most fun parts of going to Catalina because we told each other jokes and talked about the day’s activities. Another awesome part about Catalina was what we called “Day Trip,” were we kayaked out to a secluded beach and spent the day there. The best thing we did before leaving Catalina was the “Big Swing.” Our classmates would pull us up into the air and then we would
I have, and not on purpose. Luckily, I managed to make it out alive. B. Today, I would like to take a few minutes to talk to you about shark attacks, why they happen and how to increase your chances of surviving them. C. Roughly 75 million Americans visit the beach every year.
The Dancer’s Tale The weary travelers on South 281 had stopped at Chick-fi-la in the middle of their long journey to the Alamo. They ordered chicken nuggets, stocked up on Chick-fi-la sauce and went on their way. But before leaving the Dancer, who never goes anywhere without her pointe shoes, had volunteered to tell her tail next. Long, long ago a thirteen year old boy, Pablo, had the many riches many could only dream of. He had everything.
We were going to meet them in the Magic Kingdom park after we were done. All of us caught at least two decently sized large mouth bass. My 10-year-old cousin caught the biggest fish. It was about 17 pounds and was 18 inches. We left the docks that were in our resort to walk to the bus stop that would bring us to the first park.
High Tides and the Hostetter 's, Plus One If you ask anyone, they will tell you that my family is obsessed with the beach. This is not true, we just really like to get our quarterly intake of Vitamin Sea. We normally go to the beach for Fall Break, Spring Break, and Summer Break. There are many different places we like to go, and have many wonderful stories from all of them. But, one of my favorite places is 30A.
My grandparents traveled to Hawaii almost every year, we heard many stories and saw a lot of pictures, but nothing compared to seeing it with your own eyes. The first place I will be taking you to is Oahu more specifically Waikiki Beach. Waikiki Beach is the most popular beach in Honolulu. High-rise hotels line the beach, it reminds me of apartments in a big city. The atmosphere of Waikiki Beach reminds me of New York City because there is always something to do, whether it be shopping, eating, or watching live entertainment.
By this time I haven’t been to Seaworld yet. I begged my mom to take me to Seaworld for my birthday. Seaworld was in San Diego which was two hours away. Anyway, my mom surprised me and took me to Seaworld for my birthday. I was the happiest 10-year-old ever.
There were 10 other teams from all around Iowa. I showed up barely on time and exhausted. It was a very long day, but ten games later and we ended it winning second place. I drove home with my friend and teammate, Emma Olberding. We drove back to my house and stayed there for the rest of the day.
I’ve been going to a summer camp called Camp Silver Beach every summer science I was 9. This is about the time I went when I was 12. My camp is on the Eastern Shore, so we get to do all types of activites! One of the first things you do when you get to camp is meet your cabin members. I always get nervous for this because you are stuck with them for a week; so if you don’t get along that could be a problem.
On November 2, 2014 I and my family all took a vacation to Orlando Florida to go to Disney world. In the morning when we got to the airport in Dubuque, Iowa it was a long wait to get on the next flight. So we just waited. While we were waiting we played games and talked. When we got bored we all decided to walk to get some more breast fast because my sisters was still hungry and it was still early and not time for lunch.
