Everyone has experiences in their lives that might change the way we look at things. In the past eight years my family have made all attempts to save and plan for a vacation. Every year, we plan different locations and make all traveling arrangements ahead of time. Last summer, we planned out a trip to Sierra Leone. We were all excited and looking forward to a very relaxing time after working very hard. The experience I had impacted me as a person and changed the way I look at things. Traveling to Sierra Leone is the most exciting, exhilarating, expensive and worthwhile adventure anyone can experience.
I was excited when we boarded our flights at the BWI airport late in the afternoon. I was filled with excitement and joy. The flight was perfect and we arrived safely. We checked into our rooms and slept a little more. The first evening and the next day went very well. The beautiful land was once destroyed because of the war on diamonds. I saw houses destroyed and people where homeless. I was upset, and wanted to do something about it. Even though the country lost many resources from the war and their diamonds where exploited, they still believed in socialization and living in peace to enjoy the fruit of their land. In spite of the apparent level of poverty, individuals still believe in norms and values. They believe there should be forgiveness to more on with daily activity to societies as well as to one another because societies must maintain and preserve for a nation to survive. In the society there real culture is to provide and take care of family member and also survive because of poverty going in Sierra Leone.
