Before fall semester started my writing skill were not the best as my high school was not as strict in writing structure. The way I write has gotten sloppy and careless but I saw some improvement this fall semester
My history as a writer has been a bit of a struggle of slow development. From a young age I had a hard time with spelling and this is still a trouble area for me, even with the help of autocorrect. As I grew in age and as a writer my problematic area became not including enough nitty gritty details. My bad experiences that I recall would always involve the start of writing because I struggle with beginning paragraphs. Also, I tend to use the ending paragraph to just repeat myself, so overall my first and last paragraphs are usually shit. I find that I usually have more success when writing about something that I truly enjoy and struggle when talking about something I do not really care about. Both my parents were minimal to no help with writing
Having my high school at the AP program established under SCNU was always one of my luckiest things happened to me. At here, I was trained to be priorly familiar with the U.S. education system and successful after coming to the U.S. where all the students were supposed to go. In order to be prepared, I was trained to write different kinds of essays, including laboratory report, social science research paper and literature expository writing. I have started to write all these kinds of essays since grade 10, and every writing assignment has gone through the process of outlining, drafting, peer proofreading and editing.
My feelings toward writing aren 't good nor bad. Writing is something i have had difficulty with in my past.I have no problem brainstorming ideas on what topics to write my assignments on, even if i am given a prompt, but I do have difficulty with sitting down and planning my work.I always find myself getting stuck. So I almost never take the time out to plan out my ideas i come up with.My choice in words always tend to make my assignments sound unripe.I agree in my past that i have been lazy when writing and reading that was before i realized my child like writing would not get me far in ninth grade. All of This has lead me to receving grades that i knew i could do much better than.Constantly being discouraged about my grades in english, I
My strengths as a writer are being able to come up with a lot of interesting topics and getting it on paper but I have challenges when it comes to organizing my paper and trying to tie all the topics together. Based on the feedback from my papers I would say there are many areas I need to work on for example grammar, punctuation and spelling. For me, it is many areas that I need to work on like grammar and spelling I have always had some complications when it came to those two things so I really try to make sure I continue to work on it. To improve my skills, I am going to take advantage of the Grand Canyon Universities writing center and also the tutoring center this will be beneficial to me because it will help me get stronger in my writing and to also get more feedback that will help me grow even more in the areas that I struggle in.
My supporting ideas would get mixed and I would lose the attention of the reader. Secondly after rereading my own writing it becomes clearer that my sentences are not making sense and the reader gives up before reading the rest of the writing. Previous teachers have told me that I am not speaking clear enough about the topic I am trying to explain and/or relate to. When writing it appears clear to me, but when someone else reads it, it does not appear clear to them. My third and final goal was to comprehend direction. When writing I stray from the topic, bring up three to four different topics and retract back to the original topic and fail the assignment. Since being in college, I have learned a new way to write without going off topic as
Before entering this class I thought I was a well written writer, although as I continued to come to class and work on assignments I then had realized I could use alittle improving. Writing seems to come very naturally for me because I write all the time. I tend to write poetry to express what i 'm feeling at times, it is how I ventilate what it is that I am feeling. So when thinking about topics it is not very difficult for me due to the fact that most of the time I know exactly what it is I would like to write about. Taking this class has showed me how to be a more effective writer and a more effective researcher. When writing my paper I have learned to improve by reading what I have created out loud and making sure it make since, I also have peer reviews and personal review to go back and make sure that my grammar and punctuation is where it should be.
Why are there no lines? Why are there no goals? Why were the benches not moved? Just some of the things that went wrong on 9/12/15. That is the day my soccer team won 8-0 at our first home soccer game. The tensions were high and we were stressed no lines or goals. We had to move the benches all while trying to get prepared for the game. Coach Troy was running late as usual coach Nick was late for the first time and we were trying to warm up without him and get a handle on what to do about the field.
Since the sixth grade, the blank page of Microsoft Word has been one of my biggest obstacles in writing. Collecting my thoughts, organizing them, and then articulating them was a struggle. Over the last several years I have felt as if my writing has plateaued. Time and time again I found myself staring at the computer screen desperately trying to start my introduction paragraph. Feeling a need to change I enrolled at University of North Georgia in English Composition 1101. Within six classes, I began to understand why my writing appeared to be unorganized and difficult to follow. I was lacking structure around my thoughts and ideas. Professor Hinds explained to the class that an outline would ease our efforts in converting our ideas into words. I soon realized that a detailed and concise outline was the answer to the majority of my writing struggles.
It was a cold November morning in the valley of Cowan, when I fired my first shot. It was a smooth and clean feeling after I pulled the trigger. I than saw the deer hunker as the slug hit its side, and it began to run away from us. Dad, knowing I had made a good shot, still decided to jump out of the blind window to end the animals suffering. Unfortunately, when his foot caught, it was all over from then. Once, I was inside the blind and the next I was in the cold crisp air. I then saw Dad on the ground cursing himself for jumping through the window.
My strength as a writer seems to be the flow of my paper, finding good citations to support my argument, and writing in a clear manner.
As a "writer" I 've found my writing style to be more of a put together flourish of words and thoughts that in another 's opinion might seem like it never left the drafting stage (besides the few grammatical edits and big words to make it seem like it was written by someone smart). I went through a stage of writing in purely second person, and because of that I lost the ability to respect the need of more emotional descriptiveness. I 've gotten embarrassed to write in that context and end up passing it up for more serious tones that just don 't get my writing anywhere extraordinary. I want to gain confidence in my writing so I can go the places I want to go with it, while also learning to keep it organized and in line with my exact thoughts. My thoughts seem to provide a more well-laid out idea than my actual writing does. As a reader I 'll be dedicating my concentration as well as I can to your written word because everyone deserves that kind of respect plain and simple.
My writing experience started two years ago when I was introduced to Information technology assignments by a friend. I was introduced to basics or writing skills which I know I have sharpened till today. Also, I have grasped all the writing styles including APA, MLA, Chicago and Harvard. The most important thing is that I have acquired an effective research ability a fact that is attributed to the experience I have had on different academic databases and sources such as EBSCO, Google scholar, ProQuest as well as proper use of keywords.
I 've learned that reading and writing can take me any where I want it to go. I can explore my mind to go anywhere by imagination, by reading and writing. However,My reading and writing experience since I was a kid until now I still having a difficulty.
As I began the journey of returning to school, one of my biggest fears, was the writing aspect in the classes. The fear of reading and writing has never been a strong quality; however, I have never able to successfully be creative in the way I learn. I understand my weaknesses and when I need to focus on my strengths. I am constantly learning new ways, skills, and tools to utilize to continue to grow as a writer.
