Around a year ago I was introduced to two little boys. They were brothers who had been put into foster care because of at home abuse. The oldest brother is Colt and the youngest is Crew. Colt has down syndrome and Crew was born with a life threatening tumor in his skull. They are cared for by their foster mother, Nikki. She worked a full time job and needed help taking care of them, so I volunteered to help. Little did I know that a simple babysitting job would change my life.
On my first year, I was promoted from team member to team lead in my job at Jamba Juice. This experience had a great influence on my leadership skills. I was in charge of the employees and the store during the evening shift, and some weekend’s day shift. My duties included to direct the team members to help clean the store at closing, count the money in the registers, prepare deposits, and print out the sales for the day. My actions were best displayed by completing all evening tasks in order to prepare the store for the next day. Also, I effectively led the team members to do a great job by completing their tasks, showing respect and good customer service. I learned how to be a good leader my handling stressful situations with self-control
The story takes place during the 1960’s, in a A&P grocery store in a small Massachusetts town. The grocery store was also not too far from the beach, and the girl beach attire was clearly inappropriate during that time. The tone of the story shows that during the 1960s, women did not dress in the way the girls were dressing. “The women generally put on a shirt or shorts or something before they get out of the car into the street” (Updike 165). Meaning, the girls’ attire was not allowed and should have been fully dressed before entering the store.
It was a warm and windy morning in the month of June 2007. I was 7 years old and my family planned a big trip to go to Hershey park. I was so excited it made me want to scream at the top of my lungs. But I didn’t. This trip was going to be the best trip of the summer. My Mom called my other family to say if they wanted to go with us. They said yes, and that made me happy. We usually don’t get to see our cousins.
This trip to the store was different. I almost got into a car accident! On top of that, I started cursing out the person that almost hit me. I was starting to feel road rage. That’s when I said to myself, “If this next store don’t have them, then you need to take yo ass home because, you’re burning all this gas and you’re about to get your truck tore, up over some damn Twinkies!”
something I had learned to do on my own growing up, and also enjoyed doing was Braiding and styling hair/ Throughout my high school years I was a known as a hair braider I had many of my friends and family members coming to me to get their hair done. Once graduating from high school I pursued a career as a hairstylist, I wanted to learn how doing all type hair. Enrolling in Redondo Beach cosmetology school would center me in a diverse environment majority-white, so I can obtain the skills of learning how to do other ethnicity hair. Unfourthhnetly I wasn’t mentally prepared to experience racism among new millennium in the hair industry.
Cotton had always been my dog. Even if we got him for my step dad, scott, he'd claimed me. We got him in 2010 on Father's day.Scott had really wanted another dog. He was eight weeks old and so small and fragile when we brought him home. He was as soft and white like a cotton ball, and that's where we got his name from. I was nine years old when he joined our family. I never knew a dog would've been so important to me.
”Open up register 2!” My manager always found a way to ruin my day. Winn Dixie was the first place I worked. I began working their when I was 16. I started working there on June. Many orders and directions later I just had about enough; it was about 5 more months. Most people say that 5 months was nothing, but my manager gave me the worst hours, and made me pick up carts, and clean bathrooms even when I was just a cashier. Time went by really slow, but I’m going to guide you through my journey as a Winn Dixie employee.
Five years ago, I worked for Publix Supermarket, and I lived in Warner Robins Georgia. This next weekend was inventory time and the entire store was to be counted by Monday morning. Nobody was pleased about offering up their weekend for inventory. The stores morale was extremely low, and no one wanted to be counting inventory all weekend. Our supervisor decided to offer each one a chance to demonstrate how effective they could work as a team. Tom divided us up into teams, and he was offering up different prizes to all the teams. There were five teams and five prizes to be given out once we had finished up that weekend. This was a win, win situation, therefore each one was a winner, but the furthermost significant element was that the moral
I have high expectations for my life, and plan on making a name out of myself, which requires my financial knowledge to be greater than many. My parents have been a crucial aspect in my life because even though they struggled in the beginning, they turned their mountain of debt and turned it into a beautiful life lesson, and they have taught me a great deal. Budgeting, managing money, and not relying on plastic is, in my opinion, key components in a financially stable environment. Difficulties tend to arise more often than we’d like, but knowing how to deal with this responsibility is a crutial.
Tom was loving his job every day and every minute. One day a strange man came to Tom and told him about some mysterious magical face paint for clowns. Tom didn’t believe this man and went on with the show. Couple days later he went to go get ready for the show and he used up all the face paint he had and on that same day the CEO of the rodeo came to talk to Tom about his act.
It was a sunny day in the city of paramount in California , today is a special day because mother is coming home from a meeting that was hosted by the N.A.A.C.P. , hours went by and mother was at her home. I was dying of excitement, I think that the meeting was about stopping segregation in California. Mom was driving up the driveway, I saw the excitement in her eyes as she would get off the car. We all rushed inside and sat on the table and then mother spoke "I have really good news today we were told that our black kid and friends will be able to go to a white school '. We were so happy and full of joy so we all decide to go to the park and drink some fruit punch, listen to some music, and play a friendly game soccer. That evening we were all tired, so we sat down a listen to some music. As soon as we were going to start our second half the music stops and there was a state alert. We gathered together and listen quietly ' 'Hello state of California it is your
It has been twenty years in the making to create myself. I started out sheltered. So to say, hidden from the real world. Being born and raised it out it the middle of a corn field was rough, but not what you would consider rough. It was all about take it or leave, or fix it or do without. Living twenty minutes from what you considered town wasnt easy. To be truthfull, most of the time you would have to drive an additional thirty more minutes to get to what it actually a town, Terre Haute. Some people like my nieghbor for example knew how to do just about everything. To most he would be called an entrepreuneur, but to me was was just a bussiness man and a friend. It was until I was about 16 until I realized hoe iportant of a role he would play
Working at Saltworks is never boring to say the least. We are constantly busy like most other local breakfast and lunch spots in Wilmington. We also have a variety customers, from couples and their screaming babies to eighty year old ladies that order the same meal every day. As a hostess, I coordinate service and ensure smooth transition to accommodate the customers and staff. I am the first employee to interact with customers when they walk in the door; therefore giving the first impression of the restaurant. This is an extremely important role. Genuine politeness and patience are crucial skills when keeping customers satisfied. I am typically great at customer service and never have any issues calming bitter customers. However, one seemingly
