Circular personality comes with few shortcomings and my major pitfall is that due to my considerate and empathetic nature people are able to take advantage of my decision making skills by manipulating me and having decisions ruled out their way. There are ways which can help reduce this unscrupulous decision making by letting those people know that no matter what my decisions are, they will always be made based on fair judgment and not preferentialism. In the first week of lectures we covered about professional disposition. Professional disposition is vital to be prosperous in any career pathway. Professional disposition according to Oxford English Dictionary is defined as “the state or quality of being disposed, inclined or ‘in the mind’; state of mind or feeling …show more content…
In order to display professional disposition an individual needs to portray impartiality and communal justice by escalating different languages, communities and experiences in a business. I for one person always try and display professional disposition at work at all times, I respect my colleagues where my behavior usually reflects concerns for others. I prefer to interact with my colleagues in an understanding manner by respecting all cultures and religions. My current professional disposition is the product of many years of growth and learning throughout the different stages in my life, but more specifically and more recently from the past 3 to 4 years due to start of my career as a pharmacist in the community hospital, beginning as an intern and progressing to supervising pharmacist is no exception. In the text (Eby, Herrell, and Jordan 2006 p 12) the authors describe reflective action: “Reflection action is made up of many elements and is related to an individual’s willingness to be curious and assertive in order to increase self-awareness, self-knowledge, and new understandings of the world in which
I began college in 2014 at the age of 58 years-old to change my area of employment and do something that is far more interesting to me, working within the social services field. I realize the fact I was brought up by two dysfunctional, abusive parents in a chaotic home lead me to search out that same type of familiar relationship when I left home at the age of seventeen. In short, I married a domestic violence abuser and alcoholic when I was 19 years-old and had 5 children. Ten years into the marriage, when I had finally reached the end of my rope, a local police officer helped me to obtain a Protection from Abuse order and removed my husband from the home. This era was the birth of the Protection from Abuse orders and for me and this new
Lani: I was helping for someone’s project for COMM 245; I was in the video lab, in the studio. I was on campus and decided to contact everyone I knew who comes to the school. I remember I sent out a snap saying guys I think there is a shooting, be careful and then I started sending out individual texts to people making sure they were okay, like hey are you good? Stay out of an area.
Career Narrative: Psychiatrist When it comes to the work force, we have many choices of what we can do, but, it is up to us to figure out what we want to do for the rest of our lives. My career goal is to become an Adult Psychiatrist, I want to be an Adult Psychiatrist because I would like to help people who cannot help themselves. I believe I would be a good fit for this position because I feel I that I have quite a few of the characteristics necessary to help people who need it the most. I would work to get the patient back into the world and to be a fully-functioning member of society. I would likely work at a psychiatric hospital because the people there would need the help the most, due to either being forced to be there, or they are
A specific example of a time I used the skill strong work ethic was at the daycare where I currently work. My boss seemed to being having a bad day so I put it upon myself to volunteer to do all of the sweeping and mopping and do all of the end of the day diaper changes. She usually does most of these things herself, but I don’t mind having more work to do and I like helping out. A time when I used my ability to work in a team was in my rhetoric class.
I braced against my opponent on the field-- calves burning, sweat soaking through my hair. Anxiety overcame me. We were tied with twenty seconds left on clock, and the opponent was sprinting beside me with the ball. As we both charged towards the goal, I tried my best to knock the ball out of his mesh. Yet, my attempts proved to be fruitless.
Prompt: The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience? “It 's not about how bad you want it. It 's about how hard you 're willing to work for it.”
Hello, I hope this email finds you well. As a result of many unpleasant findings during time spent working at Tris, I have no choice but to resign. I have been held responsible and reprimanded for things all resulting from incredibly poor training/no training at all, I have had my hours cut reprehensibly (down to half their original time on random shifts), and I am now the only Tris Manhattan Beach employee who has not received their schedule for the month of February. I find all of these to be incredibly disrespectful of my time.
Nursing, and everything that it entails, cannot be easily described in just one simple word or phrase. It goes beyond the meaning of a profession and the stereotypical definition of treating the ill. Nursing is the “protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations” (American Nurses Association, 2010, p. 1). Therefore, it is a career that requires dedication, passion, critical thinking, and knowledge. It demands commitment and an understanding of its core values and concepts, as well as the nurse’s own personal philosophy and principles.
Personal Narrative Every kid or teenager has disobeyed their parents thinking that they were right and their parents were wrong. Instead of cleaning your room or doing homework you choose to play a video game or go outside. When I was in 5th grade I did the same, except the consequence wasn’t just getting yelled at. I ended up going to the hospital, at 8 p.m. When this accident happened, I was in 4th grade and living in California. I had a giant backyard with plenty of room to play in, a pond, and a huge playset.
Even though I have only worked in my profession for about two years now, I have great insight into how the developments in technology has changed my career field. What I have seen though has been nothing less than impressive. In just a few short years my career field has made some major changes due to the increase in information technology and mobile revolution. In the beginning, being a Biomedical Equipment Technician job relied heavily on prior experience.
The professional values that I have chosen to reflect on is consent. Using Driscoll (2007) model of reflection which is components circle involves three events: what? So what? Now what? A reflection account will focus on my experience of working in the surgical ward.
Overworked. That’s the closest word that I could use to describe this week. I feel like this journal is going to be about me just bickering, yet there is some stuff you might want to read about. First of all, I have been sleeping three hours this week because of upcoming midterms, quizzes, and assignments due. I am sleep deprived and mentally drained and as my second year in college I have never had my life drained out of my body like a passing shadow.
Entering my first high school track and field season was so exciting--it was the start of my discus career where I could actually compete amongst other talented throwers in a span of many more meets. I felt confident since I had always been advanced in my years of throwing since I started at around the age of 9. Learning from an experienced and intelligent coach, I felt there was no way I could not succeed, but then a problem arose. The man who had been coaching me for almost five years could no longer work for the track and field team. I continued to work with him on my own when he was available, however, it appeared that other teammates were suffering due to the lack of guidance and critique.
The profession of nursing takes a person and transforms them into a multitasking sensation. While this may take years to perfect it is one of the greatest feats a nurse can secure. Every nurse must have the ability to critically think, multitask, prioritize, delegate and stay sane through this process. It is the overwhelming sense of need that brings people in the profession. People need nurses to care for them when they cannot themselves, and nurses need to help.
It was 1993 when a supposedly routine joint patrol between the Kosovar and of the U.S. Army into Mount Ljuboten, a mountain peak that borders Kosovo and Macedonia, almost became a tragedy. I was then an electrician in the U.S. Army, but was assigned as the only combat medic personnel trained at the time, which was scary since I had just received training as a first responder about a week before the hike. The difficult trek lasted four to five hours with two casualties: one due to dehydration while another hurt their ankle secondary to a fall. As my first experience in providing medical care, I had to insert and infuse IV fluids, organized transport, and signaled a helicopter for evacuation. It was stressful, but this was a point in time, when I’ve realized that having the knowledge, skill, patience, personal courage can make a difference in a person’s life, which was not only self rewarding, but can also be a life-long goal towards a career in nursing.
