Before the bell rings, I would talk to my boyfriend at the time. Then we would head to class. Something was weird from the beginning. We had the same class together but different teachers. My economics teacher arrived a few minutes after the bell had rung.
I stopped wearing belts to school because I figured that it would save me time and I would finally get to class on time. Many of the former and current students I’ve interviewed from my
One thing that I would want the current eight graders to know, is that high school isn’t as bad as people set it out to be. Everyone says that it’s so hard, or so much work, but if you stay on task and pay attention in class it’s not that bad. I was one person to struggle in middle school grade wise, but since I was told that high school would be so much harder, I’ve paid a lot more attention in class and done all my work. Another thing I would tell the current eight graders, is that you don’t need friends to get through high school. It’s understandable if you want to have friends so you’re not lonely all the way through high school, but you don’t need them and its better if you don’t have them so it’s easier to pay attention in classes and get more work done
The gym is buzzing, the bleachers are full of young freshman excited, yet nervous about the next level: high school. All of them are eager to find their locker and to learn where their classes will be. Each member of Flight Crew is introduced. Flight Crew consists of 12 seniors who mentor underclassmen. These young freshmen then split alphabetically into their assigned homerooms, and each group takes a tour of the school.
I am going into the seventh grade and I have a lot of worries. Even though I have been going to Claymont my whole life I still many worries for seventh grade. My first worry for seventh grade is getting a lot of homework. I am afraid to get a lot because I’m afraid I won’t get it all done. I also play volleyball and I have it after school everyday.
Even though grades are really important not having enough sleep can affect something even more major, overall
I would wake up at six in the morning to get my books ready and eat. It took me two hours and thirty minutes to get to school because of the heavy traffic in the morning. Having someone drive me to school sometimes had its benefits, I didn’t have to worry about driving or traffic because I would be sitting in the passenger seat. Also, I would have time to study before a test while someone drove me to school. An advantage was parking, I didn’t have to pay or look for parking, since someone would drop me off.
It was a lot larger than my last school. I managed to find my way to the room, and as I walked in everyone looked at me like I was a stranger(which I was pretty much). “Class,” said Mrs. Patten. “Yes,” said the class.
When we had classes together, we would talk, joke around, help each other with class work and homework, but now all of my friends have a different class schedule than I do because they play a different sport, have different electives, or they're doing things they like. Therefore, Seeing my friends find what they enjoy doing and interacting with new people is great, but sometime it's hard because I would feel left out when they talk about things with their new friends. I've grown apart from 3 friends because we don't have any classes together. We still talk once in awhile, but we're just not as close as we were last year. The
A time I faced my biggest challenge was halfway into my sophomore year in high school. Up until then I was pretty healthy, but not obsessed with being overly healthy. I did everything any typical high schooler did. I stayed up late, got up early, went out on the weekends, but never to big parties. I never did anything that I knew would harm my health, so I wasn’t exactly like most high schoolers.
“I don’t want to go there!” I yelled. “You should go! With me!” My dad said, “And no more rejection!”
I believe that I have learned many useful lessons this semester. At the start of this semester I honestly did not know how to write a proper essay. There were several big problems with my writing style. My poor grammar and lack-luster writing skills were a real problem. I feel more confident now that I have written some decent papers and come close to completing my first English class.
