Personal Narrative: The Buckeye Family

In the summer of 2011, riots broke out around the UK that caused devastation and destruction in any place the crimes took place. These riots begun when Mark Duggan was shot by police and his family and friends demanded answers in the form of protests in London; these protests then escalated into riots around the country. While some may still believe that the sole purpose of these riots was in order to get justice for Mark Duggan, many others believe that a number of other factors could have contributed towards driving hundreds of people to take part in such activities; these factors are known as the social institutions. These consist of the family, education, religion, the economy and government.

The family is both the key unit of society and also the base of society. It is also an interminable wellspring of support, promotion, certification, and enthusiastic refueling that enables children to wander with certainty into the more noteworthy world and to end up all that he can be. Whether families have one parent or two or incorporate step-parents, grandparents or other carers, they can fabricate solid, positive family connections that advances family well-being and bear the children’s emotional wellness. Introduction. Family is the basic unit of a society. It is from the family where an individual learns the values and principles of behaviour that he/she will carry to society. If a members of a family has conflict cause by not respecting the rights of each other , this could lead to the breakdown of communication. Through effective communication , members of a family will get to know the role of each member, and come to respect that role.

Beep, beep, beep, “boys get up it is time for schools” words spoken every single school day i have ever experienced by the mother of all my brothers and I. Toledo a city ranked 54th on top 100 most dangerous cities, and a 26.3% poverty rating. Growing up in Toledo, and the city of Bowling Green, Ohio can be difficult and very stressful. A single mother, in a very low income household. Where everything is earned and nothing is given, lessons taught by my father at a young age. Growing up in two different cities my family and I had to grow up fast.

A family is both a biological unit and a social unit; an unit that has a connection with history and a connection with the future. It is a social group where emotions such as loyalty, love, devotion, commitment and sharing are not only finely expressed but even expected. (White, 2005, p. 4) Family is an integral part of every human. Yet every family is unique with its own combination of strengths and weaknesses, whether the strengths come from connections or the weaknesses come from changes, a home containing more than two people is a family.

Sociological Analysis of Family Experience A loose definition of a family structure would be “a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household”, but family can mean so much more to us. I know that to me, family means is of the utmost importance and they are the people who helped raise me and the individuals who helped shape who I am today. Everyone views family differently and being an Arab American, I certainly see all the different aspects of how both Arabs and other races contrast their meanings of family.

The word “family” has different meanings for everyone. For some “family” can mean both parents – mom and dad. Others might have seen one of their parents walk out. Some have felt the burns of divorce. Still others grew up with just knowing one parent and not ever questioning where their other parent was.

Family is defined in different ways by different set of idealists. How a functionalist views a family maybe different from how a Marxist may view it. Just as different idealists view families differently, different cultures may view family differently as well. Understanding family often requires understanding the cultural and social context in which it is being defined. A family maybe defined as a cultural construct of political, traditional, social and religious values acted out by individuals.

The traditional Chinese cultures have a development process for thousand years, now we are creating another kind of traditional culture especially under the wave of globalization. Although the form of expressing or performing the culture experienced some changes but the basic idea and belief behind rarely changed. To promote Chinese culture we would refer to the essence of Chinese wisdom so the following is actual practicing of different dimensions of Chinese traditions which show the beauty of China. The family concept is the essence of Chinese culture.

I believe that every family has their own roots, essence, uniqueness, beliefs and thoughts, some families have both parents, some just the mother, just the father, two mothers or two fathers, they might have an only child or two, or maybe 5 or even 10, therefore, those children start learning all these things from their family and surroundings, they ask questions, they imitate each other’s actions and are constantly learning and trying to catch as much information and experiences as possible. Children are growing fast, their parents are their role models, they learn mostly from them; parents have the tremendous job of forming good citizens that provide to society, healthy and happy beings that keep growing as humans in every stage of their
