This would end up being the best thing George decided to do in his life. In George’s eyes the small town could have been considered a village, but for being a town in the small state of North Dakota it was actually quite large. The population of the town was around 5,000 people, but the town itself had many chain stores and restaurants, including McDonald’s, Family Dollar, and Subway. Some people were intimidated in a small town, but George knew better.
On the page 269 Antoine Thomas tells this character Paul the truth shall set you free. Antoine says that because he knows that Paul knows who killed Luis. Because Paul is afraid of his brother Erik and his goon Arthur he won’t snitch on them because he is afraid that they might do something bad to him like they did to Luis. So Paul was living in a prison his whole life because he couldn’t find the courage to stand up for himself. Antoine means by the truth shall set you free is that once you tell the truth that Erik killed Luis Erik will never mess ever again.
For the entire duration of the story George is taking care of Lennie who portrays a lack of ability to take of himself, George through the book implies to the reader without Lennie he could have better chances in life but as George says these things and constantly brags to Lennie about how he could leave him he continues to stay with Lennie and not pursuing opportunities that would be more convenient and better without Lennie in return weighing George down because he does not leave. In the book, the author wrote “if I was alone I could live so easy. I could go get a job an’ work, an no trouble. No mess ' all, and when the end of the month come I coul' take my fifty bucks and go into town and get what‘ ever I want. Why, I could stay in a cat house night.
I´ve just got out of the ferry so that I can cross the river and John is acting happy, maybe because the Confederates haven´t caught us yet. I´m glad that I crossed the river too but maybe one day we might be caught. Willie and his friends are taking John and me over Locust Hill, to what he says, the Garretts farm. The Garretts turned out to be kind and let John stay at there house for the night while I join the soldiers to a nearby town.
What life can really be with family and friends Occasionally, the love from your friends and family might not be visible, on the other hand just remember that they will always be by your side, supporting you on every obstacle you have to face. According to the movie George had many obstacles that made his life harder than it was. For example, when his partner lost his bank money George could have lost his job because of the way that Mr.Potter was threatening him to tell the police that George lost all his money and couldn't work in the bank any more. However his family and neighbors helped him get through in what he was struggling by helping George raise money. The movie is extremely heart-touching and it is life lessening.
He is the protagonist so I am assuming that his character is going to mature in some way before the story ends. The use of indirect characterization is what makes me think that George's commitment to care for Lennie will change, “if I was alone I could live so easy. I could go get a job an’ work, an’ no trouble. No mess at all, and when the end of the month come I could get my fifty bucks and go into town and get whatever I want.” It is obvious that George does not like caring for Lennie all the time and this could be an example of
He cannot live alone and George is the only reason that he survives.
I was lying on an armchair in a white room and a dentist was taking off my braces. Upon seeing me awake he asked, “How are you feeling?” I muttered “Fine. Thanks for taking off the braces.”
cuncussion’s Once there was a boy named Paul, that always beat up Bob, every day, face swollen, black eye, bleeding nose, so he tells his dad. The next day the dad took the kid to school, and asked the son to point at the kid bullying him, he pointed at Paul and the dad punches Paul in the face so hard he was unconscious, Paul woke up in the hospital the doctor told him he had a concussion the kid was told he could go back to school but not to bump his head to much, so during recess, he followed the doctor 's advise, and sat on a bench but Bob saw him and following his dad 's example, he grabbed a metal baseballs bat, and hit Paul in the head with the bat. Paul woke up in the hospital, ringing in his ears and blurred vision he just got the double impact
Townspeople come to see George as he is leaving, making George uncomfortable,
George has no money and no control over his wife. Everyone seems to walk all over his, as if he isn’t even there. I think George knows that his wife is not happy, but he chooses to ignore it. However, when he finds the dog collar and figures out Myrtle is cheating on him, part of his anger shows. He thinks he can fix his marriage by locking his wife up and taking his wife to leave town.
George cannot live his life and cannot do anything about it. When Hazel was talking to George she says, “I mean you don’t compete with anybody around here. You just sit around” (Vonnegut 2). This shows that George is just sitting around because he is limited to what he can do and cannot enjoy his life to the fullest. What else can he do but slowly except it and watch his life gradually come to an end.
George doesn’t even know that he’s on a quest so he never realized there was a reason as to why he has to leave Weed. George thinks that this reason acquire an area for farming and living with Lennie and Candy. That isn’t his reason though. He didn’t know that he wasn’t going to get that, otherwise he wouldn’t have planned that to be his destination. Instead, fate chose George’s path for him and wanted him to leave Weed and go through a series of events that would eventually lead him to make a decision and kill Lennie.
George lives in the depressing part of town, the Valley of Ashes, anlong with all of the other poor people in town. He was a mechanic and owned a gas station. George is a member of the working class. He works his butt off to make ends meet for him and his wife, Myrtle. On page 130, George says to Tom “‘I didn't mean to interrupt your lunch,’ he said.
His behaviour and mindset following the revelation that his dream is no longer obtainable clearly indicate that George no longer believes in his dream, he has acknowledged the fact that his dream is no longer attainable. When George discovers that Lennie has killed Curley’s wife, he ignores Candy’s pleas to maintain hope that their dream can come true, rather he begins to envision himself living the life of a lonely migrant farm worker. A quote that illustrates this belief can be found on page 93 where George states “I’ll work my month an’ I’ll take my fifty bucks an’ I’ll stay all night in some lousy cat house. Or I’ll set in some pool room till ever’body goes home.
