For as long as I can remember my brother, Riad, has boasted about how amazing Y&G is and how it has changed his life. My brother is three years older then me, so as a freshman he was a senior in Y&G.

My fall walk started on a bright, and sunny day. The birds were chirping and flying through the sky. The wind was blowing the red, yellow and orange leaves off the branches of the trees. Walking through the grass, I heard the sound of dry leaves crunching under my feet. My neighbors had different fall decorations in their yard.
My ACL Tear Journey At The Hospital A quick turn on a soccer field led me to the worst experience in my life. A while back in my sophomore year I tore my ACL while I was practicing for my first soccer game of the school year. I made a quick turn without positioning my feet correctly on the ground. I thought that I broke my knee, but I never knew that after that day I would have experienced the worst day a month after on February 15th.
The drive was almost unbearable, but the thought of spending the week in the snow with family kept me going. It was only a four hour drive, but at 9 years old, it felt like an eternity. The scenery slowly changed from flat land, to rolling hills. The hills were covered in yellow dying grass, but they were still beautiful. Then we started to make the climb.
Another time I walked down our stairs, and it slipped. Six months after the first time falling, I needed surgery. Normally on a Friday morning, I would have ridden the bus to school and hung around until class started. Although I landed, I broke two bones in my left leg. I am constantly reminded that my thoughtless decision could have actually killed me. It seemed too easy and so awesome, that I got caught up in the moment and just decided to do it. Even though it may not sound very traumatic, it still tremendously changed my life. It has given me a whole new perspective on life, and how frail yet valuable we are.
I remember it like it was yesterday. The sound of my arm snapping as I fell down to the ground. People laughing. My arm being curved. I remember the sounds and sights of the day I broke my arm.
