The one place that will stick with me for the rest of my life and is alway on my mind is the Doug Damore Family Home (A.K.A Group Home). I have been living there for the last 5 years and before that I was in at least 20 different homes. The different homes were in 5 different states, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and California. There is something different about this house that is not the same to all the others. They people who run the home Doug and Jane D’Amore actually care about the kids they take in. They are not in it for the money or the assistance from the state. They are there to change kids lives for the better. Let me tell you how they changed mine.
Before I moved to the home, I was in a very bad spot in life. I was a thief, a cheat, a liar, and could not trust anyone. Every time I tried to build a bond with someone I would have to move to a new home. So it is a hard thing for a kid who is thirteen and cant make friends because they are alway moving. It is very hurtful because I never knew when was leaving and it hurt. When I move to Doug’s, I felt like I was home. Every one of the staff and the kids there were so kind and happy. I have never been around that and it was great. From day one, I knew I was not going to leave I knew I was there to stay and they were not

I would have never been able to do that without them. I was able to take down the wall I spent so long building to keep people away because I thought they were going to just leave. Now I can make friends with almost anyone and that is freakin awesome. I graduated high school. That is a big accomplishment, I am the only one in my family to do that so far. As for going to college, I never thought I would be able to do it. They motivated me to get through it and I am very thank full for
Never would they have imagined going to school let alone attending college but because of them I was able to attend school, graduate high school, and attend college. Because of them I had the amazing opportunity to be born in one of the greatest countries in the world and study to become anything or anyone I wanted to be. Because of them and with the help of the Clark Construction Field Scholarship I am able to pursue a degree in Special Elementary education with a minor in Human services and speech pathology and audiology. Without being awarded the scholarship for the past two years my parents and I wouldn’t be able to afford tuition and I wouldn 't be able to pursue a degree. I am not sure what the future may hold for me
I love my sister and my nephew, but I want what is best for me and for any children that I might have in the future: stability, freedom and choice. I believe the best way to achieve this is to go to college. I will forever be grateful for the encouragement my family gives me. My grandma, my aunt, my mom and my sister are all wonderful mothers, but they know how important it is for me to break the cycle of teenage pregnancy and go to college. As I complete my college applications I feel as if all my hard work in school is finally paying off and my childhood dream of going to college is becoming a reality.
The aroma of burning wood, gooey marshmallows, and burnt hotdogs filled the air in the hot yet enjoyable evening. Sounds of children laying and adults gossiping filled the ears of all the neighbors. There is only two rules you must obey to attend the Kessinger family reunion: no fighting and no alcohol. These rules were in place for good reason, about two years before my uncle Stan and my uncle Rick had a little too much to drink, and began to fight. At the end if you were to ask me, uncle Stan won the fight with only 2 broken fingers and a black eye, while uncle Rick had a broken nose, black eye, and a broken rib.
Everyone has different places that brings either the best out of them, or the worse. A place that torments or simply enlightens. My place is where I find peace and joy, this place is the beach. The beach is where I love to go in the summer simply because it’s relaxing, fun and free. Here in Texas there’s no beaches like the ones in Florida, that is why every summer my family
It is because of them that I aspire to be a college graduate, ready to head out into the world and help others while making my parents
A discourse community is a group of people who share common interests, goals, and beliefs. In order to become a part of a discourse community one to should appeal to logic, credibility, and emotions. Appealing to logic can occur through the representation statistics and facts, appealing to credibility can be shown through past experiences, and appealing to people’s emotions can be seen through telling personal stories. People use these strategies in order to become a part of something different and new. I will demonstrate how I became a part of the piano playing discourse through researching information on my own, showing my past experiences, and explaining the passion and attachment that I have for the piano.

I barely seen my dad which was hard on me since I was so used to always being with my family. I then became deeply insecure, worrying about what people thought of me, my eating and sleeping habits changed, and my grades were slipping because I started
As I grew older I knew the actions I had to take to accomplish my goals. Since I started college I have faced many obstacles but that was more of a reason to continue pushing myself and not give up. Many people in my life that I look up to are the reason why am here today accomplishing my career. What led me to college was high school, my mother and my family members; they had amazing advice to share with me.
Christian Morgenstern said that “Home is not where you live, but where they understand you”. Home is where my family and friends in Illinois understand me. So instead of moving to Florida or Tennessee after I graduate, I should stay at my home in Illinois. When I consider opportunities, family and stuff to do, it isn 't a hard decision to continue to live where I call my home.
It was important for me to continue my education, especially in this field as it has always been a dream of mine. In my family neither of my parents attended college, through the years I have watched them do jobs they hated so me and my siblings could be successful. As I got older my brother attended college, be prospered and graduated in four years. He now has a steady job and
In the United States there are around 400,000 adolescents placed in temporary homes, people in the community are unaware of the temporary placement for these indivduals. A lot of the time going to school is a struggle with the rumros that have potential of going around. Most kids get a label like she is a “trinity girl.” My life has consisted of temporary placement at times. So that brings me to ask the question… why did I live in a girls home for five months?
