Although it is tiresome I have to constantly spend around 3 hours practicing marching and playing my music every Mondays and Tuesday during summer and fall, the adrenaline rush made me more focused and on task. A single marching band practice is like a well-oiled machine. The routine is simple, our group either goes to the parking lot of the football field. Then, we practice playing and marching. Every once in awhile, we get 15 seconds to drink water.
Dirt Bike Catastrophe Some four years ago on a small loop road, county road 355, hidden somewhere in the weeds was a convolution maze of dirt bike trails. It couldn’t have been but six months since my step brother, Austin and I started riding dirt bikes daily. We were nothing short of motocross eligible teenagers, jumping feet off the ground, sliding every turn, and being so dirty at the end of the day that two showers were necessary. All of these things changed very suddenly in a wreck that changed our lives. On an overcast stormy day, my mom and I were coming home from somewhere I can’t recall.
Another time, one of my friends, Jacob, was training for the upcoming soccer season and had to run two miles a day. He started his first run and a mile in he ran into a problem. There were not any more sidewalks ahead. After thinking about it, he started to run in the street so he could finish his loop back to his house. Then out of nowhere, a car came rocketing down the narrow street right beside him.
About three hours after the first wave was the second round. I was only racing in the cones. As it was my turn I had the fastest run ever then at the last cone my foot came out the sturrup. If my foot would not have come out I would be able to go somewhere big. That was the end of riding for that week for me. The good thing is that my friend made it all the way to the competitions of the
Aging got the better of them because they allowed it to do so. I would be an anomaly and stay alive for as long as I wanted. I ran a 4:30 mile simply by sprinting the entire distance. Only when I got serious about boxing and martial arts did I begin running regularly. Then, to warm up, I would run three or four miles and jump rope for 30 minutes straight.
However, he somehow talked me into running. I can still remember my first practice that summer, I was beyond nervous because I did not know anyone. The girls on the team were so welcoming as I ran my first three miles on Roaring Run Trail. After that day, I knew cross country was the sport for me, but I of course did not admit that to my dad right away. Now thousands of miles later, I have finished my fourth season of cross country and my fourth season of track is just beginning.
I am in cross-country right now. I am the top runner right now on the varsity team. I hope I can get a little faster before the end of the year. We have a small team this year, only have 10 girls. I am planning to run track in the spring, but I hope I can do more events than just the 1 mile and the 4x400m relay.

I really enjoyed cross country very much and continued to do it in high school. I attended Heathfield high for two years, which was my grade eight and nine years. I participated in a lot of sport as well such as athletics and cross country. After two years I then attended Zwaanswyk high school in 2012, where I finished my matric year in 2014. It was a big adjustment at first but I soon made many new friends.
