It’s Friday night and the St. Rita football team is playing Mount Carmel in our homecoming game. Everyone is cheering and having a great time. The St. Rita football team is winning and everyone is exited. As I look around and see how much attention the football team is getting, and how when people think of St. Rita they think of our sports teams. How we have a great sports program.
When we first moved here my mom went to one of the high school football games and was amazed by the spirit of the fans. She then found out that it was because the football team had won the last two games and they are supposed to be a losing team. Also at this time my brothers and I had been telling my mom for years she needed to quit smoking which she had been doing since she was 13. So, we designed a contract. The contract stated that if the Wabash High School football team had a winning season meaning they had to win 5 games that my mother had to quit smoking.
Thousands of people are waiting. Thousands of people are wearing jerseys and talking about their favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers. My family was part of the thousands on August 8, 2015. We had joined one of the many parties where people were excitedly waiting for Family Night at the Green Bay Packers Stadium. I really didn’t care about football at all, but I was still excited to go and watch with my family.
Texas is known for its agricultural landscape but most of all by Friday night Football. In small town communities like Dimmitt being on the varsity team is a big deal. Being moved to Junior Varsity football after making the varsity team, put me in a position to contemplate my loyalty to the sport and to the coaches I felt betrayed me. It's the first day of two-a-days, and I was put on the varsity team for middle linebacker.
“I don 't want people losing respect for me as a player. I want to go out in every game and perform to the highest level. I have no retirement plans. I 've had a lot of injuries but I want to continue playing.”- Robbie Fowler.

As a freshman, and a coach 's son, I came onto the football team and took a starting spot from a junior, who had started in that spot all of last season. There were quite a few players that weren 't happy with the decision, but I felt as if I 'd earned the spot. I knew that the only way i would gain their approval was to stand out. All season I listened to, "He only starts because he is the coaches son" but I tried to block it all out. The junior, who 's spot I took, took all his anger out on me in practice, taking every cheap shot possible while people weren 't paying attention.
For anyone, starting a new sport is tough. I had that problem when I started the sport of wrestling. I was in 8th grade when I started wrestling in the Elk Grove Jr. Grens wrestling club. I was mainly convinced by my little brother, who had been wrestling for a few years already and had really liked it, my dad, and his good friend who ran the program, who had actually started wrestling around the same age I did.
