Even though I lost I knew I had gotten into his head mentally because I didn’t see him since he ran into the locker room mad because I had embarrassed him and since he knew he was very lucky to get the win. Since I knew I had one or two more chance to wrestle Nerine in the state tournament in two weeks I felt I had brought him down a little bit mentally which I could use to my
I never planned on entering the game, our starting tight end at the time was very talented and I received little reps in practice. There came a moment late in the game where he got hurt, and I was forced to enter the game. It doesn’t seem like such a big deal now but at the time I was freaking out. Not that I had to play, I was excited about that but because of the situation. It was late in the
Second semester of my sophomore year is when my life got flipped around. It was the middle of the season for basketball when I was struck by a knee on my shoulder at practice. I didn 't think much about it at the time, all I knew was that I was in pain. I was a starting post on JV as well as a full time varsity player. The last thing I needed was to get injured when my basketball career was just getting started. That day started a winding road that has not found an end even to this day.
Something funny that came out of that was when Darrall was deep in foul trouble, 4 fouls on only Chamberlain, he shouted at one of the referees “ Well, why don’t you just give the guy [one] hundred and we’ll all go home!” Sure enough he did just that. After Wilt had heard that he was going hard for the triple digits. Because of this very game the NBA had changed the lane (paint) from twelve feet wide to sixteen feet wide. With the third quarter coming to an end, Wilt racked twenty-eight, adding on to his 41 is 69 points from just the three quarters he’s been in. “The Big Dipper” scored his 80th point with 7:51 left on the clock.
A boy named Eric from North Allegheny loved the sport so much he hadn’t told people when he wasn’t feeling the best. He had gotten a couple concussions before and followed doctors orders, but the biggest season of his life was coming up and couldn’t stand not being able to play and hear the crowd chant his name. After taking a few more blows he had gotten more concussions, but didn’t bother to tell any of his family or friends. They had noticed him acting completely different and wondered what was going on. Then one night at the dinner table he started having a seizure midsentence.
Last year, over 5,000 athletes had somebody else do their homework, and coaches encouraged it. Colleges generally spend 79 million dollars each year on sports, and even after The Syracuse Scandal and other academic frauds, the funding only continues to grow. Since the colleges pour large funds into the teams, the athletes often are able to cut corners in education. College sports are definitely a terrible investment for universities as they discourage education, drain university funds, and gives athletes unfair advantages over everyone else. Intercollegiate sports discourage education for the athletes, which is often not beneficial to the athletes themselves.
The thought of wasting the last two weeks of my summer before ninth grade for band camp was a real bummer. Although I met some of the best people there and it truly changed my life, it did not seem the best waking up at seven o’clock every morning. Getting my schedule in the middle of band camp was not the best because I immediately wanted to go into the school and route my classes, but marching up and down a grassy field was stopping me. I remember getting sick to my stomach when I went home and looked at my schedule before the first time because it was just then hitting me that I was going to be a freshman at Sherando High School. Ninth grade was by far one of my best years.
That’s why emotional maturity has a huge role of why high schoolers shouldn’t be able to go straight to the NBA after high school. All the freshmen, or high school athletes that became stars or do anything in the NBA league to make themselves successful, there are 10 times more players that don’t make the NBA. This 1-10 ratio is a reality shocker to most high school athletes because they think once they been drafted the hard part is done. Yet they’re wrong that’s only the beginning, there is much more than just being drafted into the NBA. There’s practices, games, off-season practices, charities, and other basketball commitments you have to participate in..
Sunday Night Madness It was an early Sunday morning and everyone in town was at church except for one suspicious man, Allen Fade. Allen was 24 and the only child or family member left. Unfortunately, Allen did not believe in religion and thought it was all wrong. When he was younger, he use to go to church every Sunday until one day he got really sick. Not only was he really sick and could not go that night, but his sister and parents were reported missing and said they has died the one night he did not go.
After I was out of school for around a month after my ACL surgery it was hard to catch up but It was not impossible. I didn 't try enough because I already thought my grade was too far gone and that rolled over into the next semester. After the school year I was very disappointed in myself. I never have failed a class in my life but here I was applying for summer school. So I redirected my disappointment and decided to excel at summer school.
My own body had failed me and I had failed the team. I 'm sure it didn 't seem like a big deal to anyone else but it was to me because I had faced this forward many a time and he had never flat out beaten me like that. It meant that if he could beat me then all the other offensive people on other teams could also beat me just as easy. After the game it was all I could think about. It haunted me to the point I didn 't hear my dads usual commentary on my game.
About 10% of NBA players are white. This means that an averaging around 238 fans do not attend games as they used to in the past. All of this causes many racist outbursts and less popularity involved in the game. (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2011/02/17/nba-all-star-game-white-men-cant-root.html) In the first paragraph I explained how one of the leagues that merged to form the NBA. In the second paragraph I explained how the NBA was formed and what gave it it’s popularity.
March Madness is 3 weeks of upsets, heart racing finishes, and what some call “bad referees”. These bad referees may call some fouls incorrectly, but most of the blame can go to poor rules in the rulebook. The NCAA looked to fix this over the past off-season. With adding the new rules and refinements, NCAA was able to keep the basketball games integrity
Harlan was a center on the Lakers 12-and under basketball team. After 1 game, when Harlan missed 2 free throws that almost cost his team the game against the Bulls, their rivals, he felt that he was a bad center. His next game he let the other center beat up all over him in the paint and they again almost lost because of Harlan, but won again because of Miles and Jackie, the 2 guards. After those games Harlan wanted to quit, but Miles and Jackie didn 't let him. Miles and Jackie went to the park with Harlan to help him improve his game.
However, the biggest issue is him being highly injury prone. Since his rookie season, which was phenomenal. He then led the team to the playoffs and got rookie of the year. But he has always had a drawback and that was injury problems. The first season sprained and tor his ACL, The second season he was at full health, but didn’t perform at the
