The program starts at 12:00pm but I’d like everyone to arrive at 11:30am so Triadvocates and I can help introduce everyone to the elected officials attending the Luncheon. We have two legislators and one staffer joining us at our table, House Majority Leader John Allen, Representative Todd Clodfelter and House staffer Justin Wilmeth.
For us, it’s just our usual routine whenever we hang out: go to the casino to get to the movie theater, hidden in the back by the arcade and bowling alley. We open the doors branded with two giant R’s and enter the main lobby. In the center were slot machines and poker tables, the slot machines’ flashing red button taunting tourists to dig yourself deeper and deeper into its pit and the poker tables inviting them to throw all their earnings away. The area is dimly lit and the place reeks of fresh tobacco and expired alcohol; to the right of us are food courts, the crackling of hot oil from Panda Express popping like firecrackers. Kirin, Aidan, Bradford, and I get our tickets from the automated ticket booth lined up against the marble wall before weaving through the dividers to get to the front of the concession
I have been doing some thinking about our conversation a few days ago and have concluded that I will take you up on the offer! I just sold my old bike and now have some money left over that I can use to pay for those seminars. I am going to see how soon I can get this done, I am going to look at the dates and send my form in. I will keep you posted on the status of things as they get processed.
This psychological assignment requires us to break a social norm. In my case, I decided to break an appearance social norm. I thought in something weird, but at the same time really funny. Therefore, I entered to my little walking closet and I took the most brilliant and extravagant high heels shoes that I found to wear them at a place when people usually used flip flops.
Lani: I was helping for someone’s project for COMM 245; I was in the video lab, in the studio. I was on campus and decided to contact everyone I knew who comes to the school. I remember I sent out a snap saying guys I think there is a shooting, be careful and then I started sending out individual texts to people making sure they were okay, like hey are you good? Stay out of an area.

The Tide detergent bottle gradually moved back and forth, as my father’s elbow creaked, refusing to cooperate. “It’s my own way of physical therapy, you see,” my father boasted. “If I keep it up, I think I’ll be able to move my elbow by the end of the month.” “Yeah,” I whispered, keeping my voice low, because I knew my mother was shut-away in the other room. The lights were off, the door was closed, and she barricaded each ear with a pillow to block out any sound that might further trigger her migraine.
At my high school, the Beta Club is the most elite, respected, and prestigious club. It is filled with the leaders, the doers, the hard-working, and the individuals who turn their dreams into reality. It is not for everyone, and in our ever-changing society, that is clear. Most people today do not like to rise up to the ever-growing challenge of leadership. It takes a certain kind of person to be a good leader, and the Beta Club has greatly helped me in doing so.
When I was in kindergarten, I did not have friends; my highs and lows oscillated on the approval of others who understood me even less than I did myself. For picture day, I remember being happy to wear my favorite shirt: a Strawberry Shortcake blouse with ruched sleeves. A girl deprecatingly told me I looked like a little kid. I never wore the shirt again. Although I already felt like an outsider, the situation worsened when I moved from Las Vegas to Hawaii.
At the beginning of my sophomore year, August 2015, I fractured my left ankle. My second season of cross country had just begun. The whole team had a Saturday practice at Atlanta Memorial Park. We came to this park for a time trial. Not being able to run was going to be a challenge for me.
It was the last inning in our all-star game, and we were losing 10 to 8. Our team had 2 outs and we couldn’t get the third. Our pitcher was doing bad, throwing all balls, while all of us in the field were tired, ready to fall asleep at any moment. There goes another walk. They score again.
Running through the infected ship, I was crushing every enemy in my way. If I stopped running, then I would become one of them. I am a green super-soldier by the name of John-117 aka the Master Chief. Sometimes, when I wasn’t the Master Chief, I was the Arbiter. I was an alien that was betrayed by his alliance working alongside the Master Chief.

Tonight I finished packing for my trip because in the morning we would be leaving our house in Yorba Linda to go to Las Vegas. Every year, for summer break, we go on a big vacation. This year my parents decided that we would spend our month long trip in Las Vegas. This trip doesn 't compare to our trip to Orlando; but, I am glad that I am going to leave the house and visit someplace else.
