A month after the attack she was already back in the water and surfing. In 2004 her book Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board hit the shelves, and became a best seller. She was awarded by MTV, ESPN, and the United States Sports Academy for her courage. Only a year after the accident she won the Explorers Woman Division in the NSSA National Championship. Then in 2007, she become a pro surfer and joined the pro circuit.
I was in Flowood, Alabama in late June for my baseball State Championship game. I was with my friend on the baseball team, my mom and dad, my brothers, sister, and grandparents. It was like a 4 hour road trip. During the road trip we ate at chick-fil-a. Also, when we got to the hotel, we got situated and then went swimming and ate supper.
The entire extended Spedale family attended the annual family beach trip, and that day were all there on the ever so coveted Tahiti Island. Claire, Janie, and I decide to snatch some boogie boards and go towards their dad and brother, Michael. They were kayaking along the second sand bar. Invested in a normal
I had invited the whole school to my pool party. That was the best day of my life. 10th grade was not as cool as 9th grade. 10th these people would stare at me like in a mean until I find out that it was this mean girl in school she hated every one and she had two girls that would walk with her everywhere she went. The girls looked mean.
I love this beautiful photo of our Pirate brother and sister, David and Mercy Maysonet. It was taken at the recent AHS Class of 1979 Atlantic City Mini Reunion. (I 'm trying to find out who was the photographer to give him/her credit). Words cannot express how wonderful it was to see them and spend time with them. ¡Qué mucho gozamos!
Although I nearly died, my favorite memory from the trip was the Leap of Faith water slide. At the time, I was terrified of slides that tower at such angles. When my turn to ride the slide came, I completely ignored the rules by sitting straight up on the way down. As I exited the bottom of the slide, my mother and sister came running at me, looks of fear across their faces. Never did it cross my mind that I put my life in jeopardy, until they reprimanded me for not reading the
We arrived at the rental house, it took dymon a long time to arrive. But when dymon pulled up to the house, I hid in the bathroom and jumped out and surprised her. Panama is a very popular vacation destination during spring break for students because the parties never end, transportation is unpredictable, and the beach is always the place to be. Being in Panama was a crazy experience that was definitely one of the best moments of my life. When we first arrived, we did not know what to do first because there were so many possibilities. The beach sounded like a good starting point. The beach was filled with students from all across the United States, so we met many different people upon our arrival.
I looked out the window with Matthew and saw a colossal water slide. We got our bathing suits on and zoomed down to the pool like rockets. Our parents came down soon. We swam for hours and hours until our fingers looked like wizened raisins. We got dressed and ready to go out to Kobes for dinner.
My partner was Kelly, one of the fastest girls on the team. It wasn’t long before I was having an asthma attack. I often imagined myself wearing a varsity jacket with pride, but my field hockey coaches impeded my goal. They humiliated me on the field. They promoted freshmen to varsity and made me the ball girl.
It was taken before boys were even apparent in our life, or before there was any tension with school or everything around us. Lastly, this picture represents how hard we worked to get where were. It was so accomplishing making varsity as a freshman. Our first day of practice was rough because all of the upperclassman on JV were pissed at us. One time during a water break, they basically told us just to quit because we weren’t going to get any playing time.
My family and I thought this vacation was going to be fun, annual, and relaxing, but it was actually an extra memorable, amazing, and a favorite vacation. We were in The Bahamas with my Mom,Dad,Sister,Grandma,Aunt, and Uncle. It was a cruise and the beginning was already amazing. My sister,Grandma and I all shared a room. When we went to lunch the first day we had all noticed this big, beautiful, colorful fish hanging from the ceiling. We all saw this fish and remembered the fish. All of a sudden we all look at each other and said were on the same ship ten years later! I never knew a vacation could get so amazing, but when we were at our third stop Nassau,Bahamas it did. My mom had had this event to go parasailing on her bucket list.On her birthday we were
Eight years. Almost half of my life I have spent in and out of one pool or another. For half of my life I have been the “fish out of water” or one of the “butterflyin’ Hawaiian twins.” I have grown so much threw swim. Looking back I am ecstatic that my mom forced me to join a summer league swim team in 2009. I must admit when I say “forced” I do mean there was kicking and screaming and crying when I found out I was going to be a Marlin.
