My strengths are that I am not only reliable, but I am creative and have a passion for building community. I can use this to implement fun programs like Bob Ross paint night, make a decorative, intricate hallway, and plan floor outings. I love any excuse to create a DIY project and finding cool events near campus like the Old Webster cookie walk in December. As a member of the scholars learning community, I would encourage my peers to do group activities like go ice skating at steinberg together, attend pumpkin carving night, and go to school wide learning community events. I’d use these qualities to create programs and find events for all of my residents to participate in together along with myself, creating a sense of community and creativity …show more content…
As previously stated, I enjoy creating community building activities. In order to make my residents feel included in our community, I would create monthly events that are open to all. An example would be for October, I’d host a scary movie night and provide popcorn. In November I’d plan a friendsgiving dinner and a night of festivities for anyone interested, and in January I could create a scavenger hunt. The possibilities for community building exercises are endless. Along with these events, I’d plan excursions, give out small care packages, and post monthly flyers for on campus and nearby events which would further build a sense of belonging and companionship between my residents. In my ideal community, everybody would hang out with and help each other. If someone was feeling down and lonely, I’d want them to feel comfortable enough to confide in myself and at least one other student. For those who feel disconnected, I would invite to lunches and personally remind and invite them to any events I create or know about. I would also learn their interests and recommend clubs that they could join, and even go with them to their first meeting so that’d they’d be comfortable enough to go on their own in the future. I promise to do my best help everyone find their
Finally, I believe that I can make a positive contribution to the Honors College program. I hold myself to high academic standards and am committed to working hard to achieve my goals. I enjoy collaborating with fellow students and professors and approach challenges with a positive attitude and drive to succeed. I am confident that my passion for learning and strong work ethic will inspire and motivate my peers to push themselves to achieve their full
Here is a summary of the value and contributions I can make if considered for this position, I have: • The knowledge to implement training programs and provide guidance for students, teachers, and subordinates • The ability to be a resource person to and for students, family, faculty and
It is not only my intellectual curiosity, but also my passion towards giving back to the community, that will lead me to success. As a UD honors student, I plan on joining organizations and performing volunteer work that I have done in high school. It will allow me to consolidate my musical and creative passions, while participating in new extracurricular activities pertaining to sports and community service. I believe that with the University of Delaware’s many opportunities, I can have the potential to become a strong leader and active member of the UD Honors community. The lessons that I have learned from working with these children will forever remain a part of me, as I hope to grow to be someone who will one day be able to change society, and will remind me to always dare to
My communication and adaptability serve as my greatest strengths while my selflessness acts as a double-edged sword that oftentimes hurts me just as much as much as it helps. Although communication was not always my greatest strength, I learned to be confident in my knowledge and discovered manners of conveying information, which is critical to being a team player. Similarly, my adaptability has been one of my greatest strengths because I am able to understand any environment and act appropriately based on what is required of me. Meanwhile, my selflessness and willingness to help others have allowed me to develop amazing relationships and take pride in the work I accomplish as an educator. However, these assets have also caused me to sacrifice my well-being for the sake of others, which is why I have adamantly been working towards finding a healthy median and not spreading myself too thin.
Within all these clubs we volunteer in the community throughout the years, like the Chapman Township Haunted House we do for the community every year. In the summer I also participate in the Saint Joe’s Festival, which is held by the church I’m a member of. I usually help run the game stations.
My ultimate endeavor since attending community college has been my involvement in school, specifically with Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. As an engineering major I am limited to a diminutive amount of free time, due to the quantity and difficulty of my classes. However, this limitation and the fact that my ride to school is a two hour trip on public transportation, has not stopped me from participating in extracurricular activities. Applying my time management and responsibility skills that I acquired from taking several math base classes at the same time, I managed to become a member of clubs and attain leadership roles. I first became the Vice President of Service, for Phi Theta Kappa and organized service events on campus and outside of campus.
However, scholarship is not my only strength, as a member of numerous teams; I am familiar with the ideals of community and leadership
The community and legacy of Baird Scholars is one that focuses on excelling and improving, not only oneself, but the entire community as a whole. Looking forwards, I feel I could greatly contribute to the Baird community. Throughout high school, I always took challenging or advanced classes in order to push myself, and to expand my knowledge. I also had many experiences both as a leader and a volunteer. My main experience in leadership was in the Tanque Verde Bible Club, a group started by a fellow student and carried on by a group of five leaders.
I can contribute my hard work to the Honors College community. I think that I am hardworking and I love to work with others to help solve problems because two heads are always better than one. I would contribute my ideas to the lessons and help others when they need it. I love to be able to work with other people outside my comfort zone and be able to hear their ideas and combine ideas to come up with something that will benefit everyone in the community.
Starting will scholarship, I have displayed this by maintaining the 93% grade average needed to get me to this point in this organization. I intend to keep my grades above that 93% and further my education in school and at home. While leadership is not always my best
Some ideas such as raise funds and awareness for the less fortunate, hospital volunteer, the idea of having members be a big brother or big sister to fellow students who doesn’t have the opportunity of a sibling relationship, aiding elders, and etc. Fulfilling the service hours each semester is going to be a challenge but I can accomplish it. In order to complete the hours I will find places that I am fit in for the help. I will make room on the weekend to finish all the hours.
I am the employee that is the first to arrive to work and last to leave, the student who picks up the slack when other group members don’t hold up their end of the assignment, the friend that is always there when you call on them, and the mentor that will do anything to ensure my mentee is always at his/her best. Reflecting all of these attributes is my only weakness; always going above and beyond without reward although it may go unnoticed and sometimes can be exhausting. It is a passion of mine to extend a helping hand to others and watch others grow to reach their full potential as I have. Hopefully, I will be that Residential Assistant that residents feel that they can call on whether I am on or off the clock. In terms of strengths, I will examine two strengths outside of the cliché hardworking, critical thinking, and professional strengths commonly named.
In this part I will review myself, about what have I done and what can I do, so I can be closer to my vision. As I have mentioned in my current situations I have strength, weaknesses, opportunity and threats. My strategy is that I want to maintain my strength, overcome my weaknesses and threats and take advantage of the opportunity. My strengths are my calm and observant personality.
Strengths: As a student one of my strengths is organization. I can say I can keep my school materials and notebooks organized in a way that I and others can comprehend. The reason I can say I am organized is because, I have hardly ever had in the past or present any issues with trying to find homework or assignments because I always kept my materials for each class organized and in a place I could easily find. Another strength I have is social skills. I can believe that I communicate with others well in a group.
Professional reflection As I began my field experience journey, I learned many roles and responsibilities as elementary teacher. My duration in the field was nine weeks. I began training at E. R. Dickson. I developed a great working relationship with the staff and parents in the community. I always knew teaching is my passion.
