For this project I chose to use the letter I to represent my secret sin. The I stood for the trait of indecisiveness that I have. While doing this project I noticed that one of the most common things that I do is second guess myself. I think that the reason I do that is because I care so much about how other people view me and what other people think about me. An example of me doing this actually happened while creating my physical letter. I was planning on making my letter represent the quality of being impatient but I noticed that I am more indecisive rather than impatient so I changed its meaning. This trait affects me in the way of causing me to not be as confident in myself. My day wearing the letter was very interesting. The weekend
If someone were to know why I was wearing the letter, they may have reacted differently. If it were my full word, would they have reacted differently? Wearing the letter “P” was not difficult at all for me. This did not stoop up to what Hester had to deal with. Peers only commented on my letter because they knew what it was for.
Part 2 The controversy in this event comes about after a convicted felon mug shot goes viral. The controversy revolves around the picture of the felon, Jeremy Meeks who is a convicted criminal. The Stockton Police Department placed a mug shot of Jeremy on their Facebook page. Instead, the light skinned complexion of the criminal became a center of a very polarizing meme.
Based on Nathaniel Hawthorne’s novel The Scarlet Letter the moral consequences of sin are conveyed as public shame and internal torture. Hawthorne also illustrates that one can be redeemed through open confession. Public shame is an indispensable
“All men make mistakes, but a good man yields when he knows his course is wrong and repairs the evil. The only crime is pride.” A man named Sophocles once said this in the play, Antigone. Pride is where a person has a very high and mighty opinion of their own selves. This may lead to turmoil in lives of their self or others.
One of the seven deadly sins is the act of having too much pride. Pride in general is not an evil feeling to have. It is human to have pride in oneself, but having too much pride is unhealthy and will cause problems somewhere along the way. Two characters who show a harmful amount of pride are Sylvia from Toni Bambara’s “The Lesson” and Sammy John Updike’s “A&P”. A famous quotation states “Pride (arrogance) comes before Destruction... and a haughty spirit, before a fall.”
Throughout this course, the assignments I have completed have assured that I have difficulties in writing. However, I have managed to learn and understand how to write a rhetorical analysis essay. In addition, I have learned the key elements of the genre science fiction and managed to read some interesting stories; such as, Understand and Dividing by Zero. Aside from this, I plan to show an image of stairs to symbolize the progression of my writing. I will utilize my notes and assignments to not only validate my struggles, but also to exhibit my improvement in writing.
CULTIVATING REFLECTION-IN-ACTION & REFLECTION-ON-ACTION Reflection is loosely defined as the way we learn from an experience in order to understand and develop practice. Reflection is a means of processing thoughts and feelings about an incident, and gives us a chance to come to terms with our thoughts and feelings about it. For example, if something did not go the way you wanted it, we would tend to reflect on it by asking ourselves questions such as why did it go wrong and how did it go wrong. John Dewey’s theory of Reflective Practice John Dewey (1933) was among the first to identify reflection as a specialised form of thinking.
Reflective thinking and writing has impact on persuasion and decisions we choose to make daily. To have a strong argument or make a reasonable decision is based on what we already know or what we are willing to find out before jumping to conclusion. Persuasion is used to support an argument and reason. To support an argument there needs to be knowledge and research, and analyzation. Persuasion has taken a turn over time, possibly for the better because in situations now we can defend our opinion or side of an argument.
Psychology is defined as “the scientific study of the mind and behavior” (Introduction to Psychology, 2015). Psychology provides an overview of biology and behavior, sensation and perception, learning, memory, intelligence, language, motivation, emotion, abnormal psychology, and therapy (PSY 102 Course Syllabus, 2018, pg 1). Because psychology allows for a better understanding of how the mind and body work, this knowledge can be beneficial for any field of study or career. The theoretical and practical understanding of the basics of psychology can help with decision-making, critical thinking, stress management, time management, better understanding of others, improving communication, and even achieving goals and objectives, all components that allow someone to be more successful throughout their life. Throughout this course I hope to gain a greater understanding of historical and theoretical perspectives of human behavior and development (PSY 102 Course Syllabus, 2018, pg 2).
Do you practice forgiveness? Do you feel guilty for your works? Do you want to change that? There are plenty of things that we do every day in our life. Some of them are terrible mistakes, but you can always choose to be on the other side.
In this part I will review myself, about what have I done and what can I do, so I can be closer to my vision. As I have mentioned in my current situations I have strength, weaknesses, opportunity and threats. My strategy is that I want to maintain my strength, overcome my weaknesses and threats and take advantage of the opportunity. My strengths are my calm and observant personality.
As seen in tutorial one, is it your responsibility, as a professional, to provide a prevention/wellness service to your community? Why or why not? I believe as a health care professional I am responsible for providing prevention/wellness service to my community both in my workplace and out to the general public. (American Physical Therapy Association, 2003, p 2) stated, physical therapists play a unique role in society in prevention, wellness, health promotion, and disease management by serving as a dynamic bridge between health and health care for both individuals and broader populations.
