After 15 weeks listening to industrial leaders, group presentations on leadership and opinions from students both local and aboard, the general consensus one draws is that leaders and leadership are not a dichotomy. In the classroom, principles of leadership and team building may be taught while industrial leaders such as the CEO of second chance properties, encourage others to experience leadership first handed. I agree that by experiencing it first handedly, only then can one truly understand and internalized these principals.

Knowledge is not passed intact from knower to learner. The two brothers from BP De Silva brought along a unique take on this issue. They mentioned clearly that they know that they are not their father as well the fact that they should not try to be him. Though both of them are brothers, they are knowledgeable in different aspects of the family business. I believe that all of us are followers to a certain degree and that both knowers and learners who hold degrees of leadership actively construct knowledge. These people draw upon their previous knowledge, mental processes and experiences to integrate new information. Thus expanding their existing knowledge, influence and subsequent learning.

Throughout the course I looked at issues that I could potential in the future, two specific areas intrigued me the most. The first being family business while the latter being the government which is definitely a touchy issue.
