Endurance, motivation and dedication were a few words that made up the foundation of my career as a student athlete. These words arose in any and every situation possible. From the classroom to the football field, these three words haunted and shaped me in to the person I am today. Anything and everything I participated had these three concpets behind it, perfection was the goal in every situation of my life. I had always lifted weights growing up, it was who I was as an individual. One unfortunate month, my life took a turn and so did my motivation, endurance and my dedication to lift. I began to dread working out and eating clean, I needed help and lots of it. Summer had just begun and I had just begun fasting for the sacred month of ramadan. …show more content…
This caused not only myself to struggle, but also my grades. I realized that I needed to get back into it and Kash’s competition helped motivate me and helped me endure my semester as a student. Thanks to Kash’s help, I excelled in the class room and in the weight room. This helped me bring back the dedication I had back when I was a student athlete. I have learned many lessons thanks to this competition. When one has a deep passion for anything, one should capitalize on it and use that passion to excel at life. This competition has shaped not only my body, but the way of life that I live now, and the way of life that I will live forever. Excuses are now a thing of the past. I conquered my biggest challenges in my life, and I am ready for more. I plan on taking the world by storm and this could not have been possible without Kash’s competition. I wanted change, and it happened. This current semester I am a straight “A” student, I lost 24 pounds and i’ve never been happier with my life. This competition has built an impeccable work ethic and taught me patience. The one concept that this competition has instilled in me and I will live by this concept every day is, If you aspire to achieve something, don't sit around, but go out and dominate what ever the goal is, no matter how big or time
Being a college athlete and balancing the daily commitment of practice along with school work, is not something that everyone can do. I 've been able to balance all this while excelling on the track, and more importantly, in the classroom. In July of 2015, I was honored for my excellence as a student-athlete, by being
At the age of ten being raised by minority parents was very difficult for me at the time. At the age of ten I was forced for my English and Spanish vocabulary to be very proficient due to always translating for my parents. At that age learning both languages was annoying, frustrating, and difficult; however that experience shaped me to be a proficient bilingual nurse present and gain benefits by being bilingual. The benefits where the many open job opportunities with the increase pay. This experience also assisted to raise my daughter to speak and write both languages actively although just not the way my parents forced it on me.
Even though I had been down all night, a competition allowed me to refocus and harness my skills and allow me to reach a level I would have never gotten to without it. Competition makes people better and allows them to reach heights never thought possible, and heights that would never be reached if they were not forced to push themselves to be their best
The season was a year away, but we were hungry for the trophy. Throughout the rest of the school year, I lifted weights; getting stronger and stronger everyday. After school, I ran to bolster my cardiovascular fitness. I practiced every minute I could.
In American society, children are taught at a young age that in order to be successful, they must exceed everyone around them. This idea is very relevant within the educational system, which subsequently determines a person’s prosperity or lack thereof. In some sense, competition can be positive in motivating people to want to do well in school, so that they can attend a good college and then are able get a job; however, the pressure of constantly competing throughout one’s life is stressful. In a
When I joined the football team my freshman year, I did not fully understand what I was getting into. Even though I watched football on television, I had no idea how much work was truly required for the sport. I worked vigorously for the duration of the summer in the weight room, and on the track, to achieve peak physical and mental shape before the season. Waking up daily at six in the
When we set off for our meet my sophomore year I had no idea the day would be as great as it was. as we arrived to the meet the air was brisk and sent a chill down your spine like a good horror movie, yet it was a beautiful late fall day. Prairie valley had just finished building their new weight room and when we walked in you could feel the smooth concrete beneath your feet, you could see the new bright chrome barbells in their homes on a bench or in a squat rack. The smell of chalk was floating throughout the room like a fresh baked pie at grandmas, but this was only the beginning to a great day. The other teams had checked in and we were up, not one of the other teams had as solid a lifter in some class as we had so we were very confident in getting a fairly good team score.
I would consider myself a good and hard working student. I try my best to get either a G or an E on my report card. After filling in the chart i've noticed how much talking in class can affect my mark. Looking at my mark as a whole my goal is to get a G or an E in independent work.
My why statement is something I desire in life and will accomplish with time. This three statement all have a impacted in my life, example being a leader is something I have always done when I was a younger girl,I never followed anyone choices in life I always had a mindset of my own and what I wanted to do for myself. Following my dreams is a most in life, it's a goal I have to do with time no matter how many obstacles I face with time. Yes, I also want to make history be well known for the amazing impacted I have done as a role model in this industry with time, are the three why statements I will accomplish in facing many boundaries .My
The future is impossible to predict, but ways exist to promote traveling towards the desired destination. My own future may not have a guaranteed road to success but I have a plan and goals which together will be the North Star guiding me to achieving my dreams. My desired and planned occupation is to become a pharmacist because I want to help people ensure they do not find themselves hurt by the treasure of medicine and instead can be healed and strengthened by its use. Pharmacy is a field in which I will be able to use math and science to aid in promoting well-being in others' lives.
I have always tried to push myself to be the best I can be. For school, I have taken classes that push me to be the best I can be. For work, I have arranged to stay later than I need to and go in on my days off to help. For soccer, I have trained during the off season and put in many hours to be the player I am today. There are many more examples of how I always try to do my best.
I have been committed to volunteer as an English and math tutor at Oakland international high school since 2013.a high school that was founded with the help of the bill and Melinda gates foundation for new comers to the united states. It was a great experience for me. Even though I’m only volunteering once a week, due to having two jobs, I still believe I’m making a deference in someone’s life. This contribution to my community is important to me, because I have many things in common with the students in this high school, not only do these students have a tremendous academic disadvantage in the education system, some of them have never been to school before, and some of them have arrived to this country without their parents, and they carry the same ambition I have of becoming successful and returning to their home countries to support their families. also when I first arrived to this country, I had the same background with these kids, I lacked basic skills in math and English and I hoped there was someone there to help.
Not only was I proud of what I learned in those classes, but I was recognized and rewarded for it as well. My goal could be achieved; my hard work could be rewarded. This realization gave me more confidence in my academics. I now feel driven by the fact what I set my mind to can be achieved when I give it my best effort, and believe in ability more
Up until my senior year in high school, I have been interested in various things that range from art to technology; the topic of business was also an interest of mine. However, once I graduated from high school, I realized that I was even more interested in the field of business. Business has always found its way back into my life. Ultimately, I decided that I wanted to pursue a degree in business for the long run. The major that I am most interested in is management; more specifically, the human resource management sector.
My interest in having another education abroad experience developed as a result of my realization of the many ways in which my first study abroad experience has profoundly impacted my life. Last summer I participated in the Interdisciplinary Art & Culture study abroad program to Florence, Italy, and the experience had a profound impact on me academically, professionally, and personally. Upon returning from my study abroad program and resuming my courses at my home institution this fall, I realized that my experiences abroad had prepared me for academic success. For instance, this semester in Renaissance Art History class I noticed that I was better able to recall facts about Renaissance art during exams because my experiences abroad had laid a foundation of knowledge for me to draw upon. My realization that my program has lended me an academic advantage in my classes has contributed to my interest in studying abroad again.
