To begin this writing, I want to say I am very honored to be part of the 2022 waitlist, I see it as another opportunity to prove myself worthy of Stern. I lived in Nigeria for almost nine years, and the things I saw have had a lasting impact in my life. In Nigeria, I was surrounded by extreme poverty. Many people searched and craved for a life worth living. People, even children, were begging for money and carrying heavy baskets filled with food on their head just to get enough money to support their family. I saw a way out of that: education. I knew that education had power, and I worked in Nigeria to make sure that I was a highly educated child. Stern has numerous opportunity to study abroad. Given students the chance to expand their knowledge and their limits. Global experience helps prepare students for their future careers because the world is becoming more connected than ever. It’s really essential to understand different cultures. I have had the privilege of being able to attend a college as a High School student. I go to the University of Minnesota, and I see the advantages of a diverse university. In my microeconomics class, I saw people with different cultures. It excited me because I know that NYU is a lot more diverse. I can’t wait to attend a class where everyone has different backgrounds and different ideas. Stern also gives students the freedom and flexibility to explore various subjects. It doesn’t restrict the students into following a certain path, making each students education unique. Stern gives their students opportunities to prepare themselves for the workforce. They guide them and help them succeed. Whether it’s helping build resumes or having fake interviews, they do what they can to help stern students succeed. I appreciate that in a school. My dream to go to Stern School of Business has been there for years. Truth be told I already feel part of the school. I follow all the things that happen, I’m a bit obsessed.
