Approximately 5 years ago I experienced a major life altering event, I had twins. They have been my heart and soul and I have definitely put many things on hold, and/or taken them off my list of to-do's, so I could give my kids all of me and be present in their lives. They will be starting Kindergarten in 1 week and I want to show them that School is very important even when you are an adult. I, also want to be a good example for them. I truly believe that being able to be a mother has changed me and changed who I want to become. In order for me to provide for my children, so they have more then I did growing up, I will need to further my education. I have chosen to "go back to school" to get an accounting degree. My Grandmother was and my …show more content…
Although, I feel that I am secure in the position that I hold at my current employer, I would like to make my options more plentiful for my future. My children will be starting their school career and I will need to be there for them if they have questions. I feel that not only will getting a degree better myself and my future options, it will also allow me to be a better teacher to my children. The influence that my children and their future has had on me will insure that I will do the best that I can to keep a great GPA and make CCU and my children proud of me. My goal with these classes is to learn as much as I can to broaden my horizens for the future. I love that CCU allows one class at a time which will allow me to focus on doing my very best in that class. I want to show my kids that it can be done and that I am doing all that I can to make their future amazing. Getting a college education is very important for everyone. I do not believe that if I pursue a degree that I will have any ground to stand on when it comes to getting my kids to go to college. Because my children mean the world to me, I want to see them succeed and do great
My primary goal for attending college is to be financially fit and also use the knowledge I’ve gained to help underprivileged youth achieve their goals. I come from a poor background where I have struggled to make ends meet. I didn’t receive any scholarships to attend college after high school so I skipped it. The cost of college is a burden that I couldn’t have taken. I used the motivation of when I took time away from school surrounded by people in situations I never wanted to be in.
Throughout high school I have tried to take classes that were not only challenging, but would also be relevant to my future. I have taken nine AP level classes since sophomore year, and I have thrived in the difficult coursework that is meant to be college level. So far, I have proven my hard work and dedication by passing all of the AP tests thus far. I have also taken advantage of the advanced math coursework that is two years ahead than normal. I began this track since the fifth grade, and I continued and progressed all these year.
General education classes are a common aspect of universities all across the country. However, after examining the statistics, I believe that colleges are requiring too many classes outside of students’ majors. Not only are students forced to enroll in courses that they are not interested in, but they are also struggling to stay motivated in school. Since students are not retaining the information gained in these classes, colleges are also putting these individuals in an unnecessary amount of debt. While there is merit in taking these general courses, the amount of classes needed over four years is discouraging and expensive.
Going back to school has always been on my mind but never a priority. I allowed other life distractions to interfere. After what seems like years of trying to find my identity and motivation, I have finally decided to go back to school to better not only my life but my daughter’s as well. Being a single mother of one, I want my daughter to see that not only your skill set, but a college degree is a great way to start your career and meet the expectations you set for yourself. The expectations I have for myself are finishing my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and eventually finishing with my MBA in Human Resources.
and I feel that it is important to show my new and wonderful daughter that a college degree is something that is important to earn. I want to be a roll model for my family on how perseverance and hard work towards a goal is essential for success. Finishing what you
My future goal is to become a midwife. To prepare for this, I am currently taking two dual credit classes, English and U.S history, I am also in clinic rotations. I am taking these classes because even though they may be difficult at the moment I know they will immensely benefit me later. Apart, from taking dual credit classes I am also working part-time at a restaurant to save up for college. I know that one has to work hard to achieve their goals.
I acquired a total of 28 college credits while in high school, with most of them being more challenging classes such as physics and calculus. Taking these classes will help me in the future by not only getting the classes done, but they have also given me a taste of what college is like. My whole life I have been fascinated by nature, especially living things. This fascination has made me ponder what I would like to do with my life, and I have come to the conclusion that there are many occupations that fall under the field of biology that I would enjoy. Whether I were to become a zoologist or go on and become a doctor, college will help me decide on exactly what I want to
I had begun college the summer after I had graduated high school. I decided that it would be beneficial for me to attend a community college briefly to earn a higher grade point average. My motivation to attend college that summer was to start somewhere and improve myself. I am the first in my family to attend college, and I am glad to say so. I plan to support my family after graduation, and encourage my siblings to a higher education.
I knew college would lead me to be more knowledgeable about this world and show me opportunities that I never seen before. What motivate me to go to college was my family. My parents’ has never gone to college, so I’m the first in my family to go to college. I want to be someone unique in my family. I want to be financially able to take care myself and my future children.
There are countless reasons why having a college education is so imperative. Being a single mom and role model to my son, the possible opportunities and experiences, and simply the knowledge of having a college education are my top three reasons for continuing my education. Being able to support my son and myself and having a stable career is the long-term goal of my college education. The possible opportunities and experiences that come with having a college education will be my reward for working so hard. Finally, the knowledge I will obtain through my college education is the key to everything in my
CTE helped me realize what I wanted to do in life. I was not sure if I wanted to peruse a career as a teacher or as a veterinarian, two very different career clusters. Therefore, I decided to take both of these courses to see which one I was interested in the most. CTE helped me realize that I enjoyed working with children. Therefore, CTE created a clear path for my future as a teacher.
The other course taught me how to estimate for insurance companies and how to repair collision damage on automobiles. I have worked in auto shops, as a service tech performing oil changes, overall involvement with tires (balancing, aligning, dismounting, and mounting), and repairing cars involved in accident collisions. These occupations taught me use my time effectively and efficiently. As far as I can remember I have always wanted to do something with cars. I have never changed what I wanted to become, it has stayed the same throughout my life.
Through high school my grades weren’t the best. I enjoyed challenging classes, but they were a lot of work. Between the work load and problems at home, I didn’t keep up well. By spring of my senior year I realized my hopes of leaving the small town I lived in weren’t going to happen. A friend who worked at the local community college contacted me about attending classes in the fall.
As these general classes can be beneficial to us, what is the point of continuing to take them for years after college starts. I have always thought college should be where you start learning how to achieve the career you want to go into, not continue the classes I have done for more than 7 years prior. With all of that being said, I do not believe I am the greatest at these classes even with my prior experience. I think I can always learn something, but I think I need to move on and try something new.
Lastly, I am also taking college classes to further educate myself in subjects that I enjoy. With the countless number of possible majors available, there is a great deal of classes that cover a wide variety of subjects. Attaining a college education has always been important to me and my family. My reasons for taking college classes represent my own personal will.
