The endless world of geometry can be scary- it’s full of lines, planes, theorems, shapes, dimensions, and who knows what else? Understanding these topics may seem scarier and even overwhelming. Fortunately, there are solutions for problems like these. To solve this issue, you need to have self-management points to improve upon and ensure your own future success in a geometry class. These points will allow you to stay on track and be focused on your learning. Though there are many self- management points, I believe that 3 of those points will be most effective for me. If I participate actively and collaboratively, know how and when to ask questions, and seek help or more information when needed, there is no doubt that I’ll make progress. In …show more content…
It will help me to understand the information rather than to receive the answer from someone else or the teacher. Sharing my comparisons will enhance the discussion and allow me to fully understand the concept. Participating will also engage and motivate me. The teacher’s response to my input could encourage me to ask and learn more. The result? I would be more focused on the discourse given rather than on something else, which could cause me to lose necessary information. Last, participating will help me to remember the information as well as to understand it. Confucius once said, “I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.” I will remember the discussion for future …show more content…
There are many ways I can receive help outside or inside of my school. There is tutoring available every Tuesdays after school if I am having trouble on something that we are currently learning in class. This will help me because I would get specific information on about what I am struggling on. If this is not possible, then I can ask teachers in class between breaks or discussions in their lesson. Therefore, I would get instant feedback without having to wait or without having to fall behind. Online programs can also be used for extra help. Khan Academy or the Learning Odyssey will help build skills in a general subject. With internet access at home, this would be useful because there are step-by-step videos with practice questions for my
I was born in Guadalajara Jalisco and raised on a small ranch called Atemajac de Brizuela. My dad left when I was small kid, but came back when I was three years old. One year later my sister was born. Once my sister was born my dad decided to come to the United States because he knew that he had better opportunities here than in Mexico. Four years after that I came to the U.S.A at the age of nine not knowing a single word of English.
My interest in a counseling related profession and helping others spawned as a result of a lifetime of learning and curiosity; namely, mindfully molding my thoughts, actions, and habits into a perpetual pattern of unconscious and unpremeditated altruistic behavior. Furthermore, I have always aspired to determine the roots of all my emotions and master the behaviors of a trustworthy, loyal, courteous, and kind individual. Every day should begin with the thought, “What can I, as an individual or collaboratively with others, accomplish to relieve part of the shared and total human suffering of this world?” If such a mantra was revered by the collective consciousness of the human race, misery and suffering would be sharply reduced, if not eliminated
What interests you about your selected program of study? Computer science has always been the aspect of study that has grabbed my attention from a young age. CS always created a sense of awe in me because of the fact that individual people, with a firm understanding of CS, could completely manipulate technology into whatever creation they wanted. In the same way an artist can paint on a canvas, computer scientist can create through code and each program carries a sense of the programmer with it. The more you learn about CS the more uses it gains, making it a tool that builds upon itself.
At the age of ten being raised by minority parents was very difficult for me at the time. At the age of ten I was forced for my English and Spanish vocabulary to be very proficient due to always translating for my parents. At that age learning both languages was annoying, frustrating, and difficult; however that experience shaped me to be a proficient bilingual nurse present and gain benefits by being bilingual. The benefits where the many open job opportunities with the increase pay. This experience also assisted to raise my daughter to speak and write both languages actively although just not the way my parents forced it on me.
To my surprise, after I turned seven years old, my parents decided to enroll me in professional tennis classes with aspirations of me becoming a professional tennis player. Likewise, many times during practices, I felt comfortable wearing my brother’s shorts because I did not like the clothes that girls were forced to wear. However, many parents had an issue with me dressing as a boy, and in quite a few instances, I was told to act and dress like a girl. Therefore, I did not feel comfortable in my skin because I was a child and did not necessarily understand why people were having issues with the way I dressed or acted. Likewise, since I was physically active, I liked to wear clothes that felt comfortable.
Furthermore, I have shown great growth of my "development of reflective capacities," (Goal 2). After every lesson I was able to assess what I should change for the next time I do my lesson. During my pre-conference with Jen I was able to pick up on things that did not go well during my previous
My most respected council see that you have requested my presence to justify my behavior as a member of the Christian community. I trust that I have not sinned, and come short to the glory of god and that I have also kept the holy spirits commandments and have also helped to spread the word of our holy father. I have come to believe that there were many factors that convinced me that Jesus was the messiah. The evidence that helped to convince thousands of Jews including me that Jesus was the messiah was that he prepared his apostles for world-wide witness by proving to his people that he is alive and that his resurrection vindicated his claim to be the messiah. He also gave his apostles the vision and strategies to help accomplish his purpose
Medicine has always intrigued me because of a persevering interest in building my knowledge of the medical sciences and using my passion for it and the welfare of others to have a positive impact on my community. I am motivated to pursue medicine because of my experiences and the experiences of those around me with the healthcare system and their healthcare providers and a belief that if I continue to be passionate and dedicated to expanding as an individual, lifelong learner and future physician I can be an effective contributor to the communities I serve and am a part of. Further, academic medicine appeals to me because of its integration of medical education, research and patient care which I believe will be beneficial to my practice as a physician. It is my
Ever since I was a young child, I attended International Schools. As a result of attending such schools, I began to feel more of a third culture child in my own country, rather than a normal Polish girl. I began to feel as if I was not fully from one place, but that I was from multiple locations, even though I lived in Warsaw my whole life. Being surrounded by people from different backgrounds and from all around the world taught me to be open-minded, to be aware that everyone has their own story and it gave me an international perspective.
I remember clearly the first moment I was drawn to the art of motion-picture photography, cinematography. I was ten years old and with my mother watching the film Jurassic Park for the first time. The film fascinated me. I quickly became curious about how the dinosaurs were brought to life, made so real, through the visual effects.
Throughout high school, I have participated in many extracurricular activities and volunteer work. Many of those activities included neighborhood clean-ups, fundraisers, science research, community outreach and more. Out of all my activities throughout my high school career; one organization specifically played a major role in my continuous quest to improve my community. During my junior year of high school, I got the opportunity to take part in an organization dedicated to uplifting inner city youth. I was a peer leader at Community Healthcare Network Teens P.A.C.T (positive action and choices for teens).
Social institutions are structures and mechanisms of social order that serve to fulfill the needs of society to control and regulate behavior. In general, social institutions are not placed but rather relationships, obligations, and functions. Most importantly, institutions are crucial to society because their main purpose is to socialize the group of people within that institution. Other important functions of social institutions include controlling individuals by defining social values, providing stability by organizing society and its people, and defining social roles. Over the past few days, I realized that family and education are the major social institutions that govern my life.
The times I enjoy the most are when I am in my art class surrounded by color pencils, oil pastels, acrylic paint, pencils, and paper. I am proud to call myself not only an art student, but an academic achiever. Out of all the countless awards and certificates I have received, I am proudest of the art awards I’ve gotten. To this day, I enjoy making art pieces and being recognized. I was very young when I came from Mexico to live here in the United States.
Performing surgeries, administering antibiotics, and interacting with patients are some of the first ideas that come to mind, when someone thinks of what takes place in a doctor’s daily routine. However, not all doctors’ lives are the same, for there are many fields of medicine, and doctors in each field have unique experiences. In addition, because each branch of medicine is different, there are specific requirements and skills one branch has that another does not. While doctors, in general, are seen as those who help people recover from an illness or injury, the wide array of specialties offers numerous choices for prospective medical students to choose from. As I am interested in the medical specialties of cardiology and neurology, I
My idea of the good life involves using the knowledge and wisdom I acquire to improve the well-being of our planet and all sentient creatures living on it. My undergraduate experience at the University of Florida would prepare me to achieve this by making me a well-rounded individual, providing me the means to achieve my goals, and helping me to communicate my ideas. While many see education as a means to an end, I value education most for its ability to shape me. I hope to use my experience at UF to deepen my perception and understanding of the world to improve my decision-making by learning from the mistakes of the past, and to enhance my opinions by learning about the views of others, especially when they contradict my own. Not only will my education at UF help me gain knowledge, but it will also train me in various ways of thinking, allowing me to better analyze life situations and make better decisions.
