I am not like other sixteen year olds. I find a better use of my time making the world a better place than partying or loafing around. While my peers engage in such activities I work towards broadening my awareness of the world around me. It’s the small things, namely learning about foreign cultures or giving back to my community that make me different. At sixteen years old, I am graduating from Inlet Grove Community High School and have been accepted to Florida Atlantic University.
Being a great leader is not dependent on what you have accomplished yourself, it is shown by how you have impacted others' lives. I have come through a never-ending process of education, self-study, and social interactions to become a true leader figure. Being academically successful has been a big priority of mine. I have proved my academic dedication through my 4.0 GPA which is the first step to complete to grow as a bigger leader in the National Honors Society. My whole life, I have challenged myself by taking more advanced classes such as AP courses because I thought being intelligent is one of the keys to helping me become a bigger leader.

There are many different things that can impact students in their high school years. Whether these things are friends, activities, or the sports they participate in they all impact the student. In the 3rd grade, I shadowed my mother on a Take Your Child to Work Day. On that day, I viewed the impact that my mom had on her patients in the nursing home setting through assistance with activities of daily living, providing a listening ear, and simply being there to offer comfort. This day served as a pivotal point in deciding my future aspirations and career goals.
I am writing this letter in regards to the notification sent May 30th requiring that I withdraw from UNB as a result of my student assessment grade point average (GPA) for the 2015- 2016 term. I wish to appeal such academic decision based on medical reasons that lead to the negative outcome. I excelled academically during my first and second year at UNB, although I failed my third year with a GPA .8, I was able to sustain a cumulative GPA of 2.1. Following the completion of my last semester in April, I have been seeking counseling as I have been diagnosed with major depression by my family physician, prescribed an antidepressant to alleviate symptoms and ongoing counseling sessions, whereas both have had a significant benefit to the recovery of my diagnosis. The following is a recap of life events that transpired during my third academic years that greatly influenced my studies that lead to such a disastrous grade point average.

I can vividly remember the advice given to me by my high school counselor. I was broken down, whispering to myself that I was not college bound. It was my counselor who made me realize that persistence was a key factor to continuing my education. The wisdom that was shared to me that day was instilled into my mind and was endorsed in my heart. I want to be the person that gives a glimpse of hope to students that need an extra push through education, just like it was given to me.
We must acknowledge that there will be times where we lose our position, only to realize where we stand. Growing up life seemed hard, but now I realized how amazing it was; I had a family who loved me and I was never seen different (discriminated), I was always told I had four very impart jobs: have respect for people even if I didn’t like them, do good in school, always ask questions and never forget where I came from, little did I know I realized where I came from after I left. When I came to the United States of America, New York became a dream, but we must all wake up and stop dreaming; I did after my mother past away a year after I’ve arrived. A stunning story that watered my roots of interest in medicine took place when I was in the eighth grade. A girl and I were conversing with our teacher during recess. All of a sudden, her eyes rolled to the back of her head with her head dashing the ground after she collapsed. As much as I wanted to help, I was too young to know how to help. The ambulance came and took her away.
I know that my undergraduate experience will pave the way for my future success, so I hope to gain more qualities that will continue to assist me in achieving my future endeavors. One quality I hope to improve during my undergraduate-college experience is networking. Currently I attend a high school that is very small compared to other traditional schools. It is really easy for me to communicate with others around me including my teachers. I know that college will be different, due to the difference in size, so, I hope to build on my networking abilities by building relationships with my professors or seeking to participate in additional educational opportunities.
I will start off by saying I am not typically one that enjoys talking about myself because I feel like I am coming off too boastful; but I will do my best to depict myself in a different and more personal way than the version of "Dimare" that is seen from my application. As my application states, I graduated from Bracken Christian School, but what you may not know is the details about my school. My graduating class was 34, the high school was about 80-90 kids, and the entire school could fit in the school gym- talk about small. I enjoy the quaint, kind of quiet, simpler life.
