Personal Statement Of Purpose

My interest in computers goes a long way. I was fascinated by them when I began to play computer games in my childhood and often wondered how these were made and by whom. This urge later set my interest in computer science as a subject in high school wherein I had to convince my Principal to allow our batch to take CS as an elective subject which would enable us to learn programming.

This inclination was further reinforced in my second year of under graduation, when a friend showed me an “intelligent” personal assistant in his new smartphone. To test its effectiveness, I spoke two phrases “piece of cake” and “inner peace”. Its ability to clearly differentiate between the two homophones made me appreciate its true power and potential.

In my undergraduate program, I am studying a vast array of core computer science subjects as part of course work in the prestigious National Institute of Technology, Allahabad. Amongst the various subjects, artificial intelligence, computer network, and computer graphics interest me a lot given their application in our daily lives. Computer network laboratories

UCLA’s graduate program will thus prove to be a stepping stone in my pursuit of a career in the. Consequent to my MS, I would like to utilize my knowledge by working for companies that believe in innovation. I am confident that given an opportunity, I will be proved useful and make significant contribution to a going research. While my primary areas of interest are AI/NLP, I seek to gain a broad foundation in Computer Science and look forward to joining the UCLA as a graduate student at Computer Science Department. I am certain to match the high standards of your University with my hard work and keen interest in the subject.
