Throughout my life, I found that I have a passion for helping people. I am going to major in Exercise Science in college. I hope to be accepted into graduate school and earn my DTP. When I earn my DTP, I plan to use my knowledge and my degree to get a job as a physical therapist. I hope to make a positive impact on the lives of young and elderly patients, by helping them live an easier life. Patients come to physical therapy in hopes of treating medical conditions or other health-related problems that limit their ability to move. It would be incredibly rewarding to be responsible for optimizing movement to enhance the human experience. Watching a patient’s growth through their treatment to recovery and getting to know them along the way, is
I have known for years that I wanted to work in the realm of health science. I knew that I wanted to do something in sports medicine. When I took a deeper look into sports medicine I learned that there are many areas of sports medicine that you can get licensed in and that the sports medicine part would be a specialty to attach to it. So I took the list as started to look through it at each job that plays an affect in the sport medicine area. I narrowed in on Physical Therapy and then took the time to do some shadowing in it for my senior study.
I feel such a reward helping those in need, and I want to help people both physically and emotionally. Physical therapy is my ideal career because it fuels my passion for physical activity, but will allow me to have strong interpersonal relationships with my patients. I plan to graduate in the Fall of 2017. I have already planned my class schedule for the upcoming semesters to ensure I will graduate in a timely
Over the last two months I have observed three different careers related to Exercise Science. I had the opportunity to observe a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and an Athletic Trainer. Going on these observations has really opened my eyes to what I want to do in the future after college and the requirements that I need to get there. With my Exercise Science degree I am aiming to be a Pediatric Occupational Therapist. An Occupational Therapist is a profession that helps people across their lifespan to do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities.
Life has its twists and turns, but my overall life goal is simple, help others. I want to make an impact on others life, even if it is a small change. For instance, being able to hold a pencil is the difference between a student being able to graduate from Kindergarten and not be able to continue on to first grade. Being a Pediatric occupational therapist will help me make an impact on children at a very young age. Even small changes can have a large impacts, which is why I want to be that change for others.
I do want to be and Physical Therapist myself , I want to become a PTA for my introduction into this world,I want to someday run my own physical therapy center. I want to go to CSU and major in sports science. I do want to work for a major sports team. I find that to be an exciting career to be in. that 's why I choose to become a PTA.
My senior year in Cross Country significantly influenced my career goals. Although, I don’t know what I want to do for sure, I am looking into health careers because of my love for running. Whatever I decide to do, I want to have the same amount of passion for it as I do for running, I want to work hard and have fun doing it. No matter what career I choose, or where I go to college, I hope to keep running close to me and continue to run throughout my life.
I learned a lot about the anatomy and functions of the knee, as well as other weak points and imbalances within my own physique. More importantly though, I learned how selfless and caring the profession requires of the therapist. As a physical therapist, one is expected to not only diagnose and treat physical problems, but also to design plans that patients can implement themselves to further promote wellness in any area. In addition, the therapist is expected to listen to the patient at all times and tailor his program to his specific needs. Finally, one must physically be there with the patient for anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour.
As long as I can help them achieve their goals and I can be there every step of the way through their rehabilitation and learning process, then that is all that matters to me. I have noticed that those smiles, perseverance, and helpfulness that I can see in others is the best unspoken reward I could ever ask for and that is why I will never stop my desire of becoming a Physical Therapist. Through obtaining countless observation hours and shadowing many of aspects of Physical Therapy such as in-patient, out-patient, neurological, geriatrics, sports injuries, I have been able to understand how much of the role of therapists play in that patients lives. I was able to gain the knowledge that increasing the amount of movement and exercise one does, how much it can change their life and how much of an impact it can have on mine.
I have always wanted to help people and to help them better their lives, but I never could figure out how I could make that passion a reality, until the day I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety at age eleven. After that rough period in life, I learned how I could help other people. I could listen to them and try to help them better understand themselves. Life is much easier for a person when they have people who believe in them like a psychologist or therapist. My college plan would be to earn a bachelor, and master degree in Psychology to become a Behavior Analyst.
My love for sports, fitness and wellness has developed my inspiration for helping others by becoming an Occupational Therapist. Throughout the years, I have gotten the chance to experience different people healing with the tremendous help of someone working in this profession. I enjoy that part of Occupational
I am a good candidate for the Reisher Scholarship because I am hard working and self motivated. The value of education is something that I have understood since a very young age. This scholarship would help me substantially because my mom is a single parent with two kids in college. With this scholarship money I will be able to become more successful and reach my goals in life. My completing my degree I will be one step closer to becoming a physical therapist and helping improve my clients quality of life.
Jeffrey Eubanks J17002346 February 7, 2018 Physical Therapy Physical therapy is a career that will always be needed throughout society; it helps the human body rebuild physical function in people that have been injured, have birth defects, or any other reasons. People who have been in accidents or have disabling conditions such as low-back pain, arthritis, heart disease, fractures, head injuries and cerebral palsy turn to physical therapists, commonly called PTs, for help. These health care professionals use an assortment of techniques, called modalities, to reestablish function, improve movement, relieve pain and avoid or limit lasting physical disabilities in their patients. There are certain education requirements to become one, just like
My passion for helping and supporting those whose economic and financial standings have hindered their growth in our society, has driven me towards social work. I feel I have exhausted every possible avenue in my current degree field. Pursuing a master’s in Social Work, will give me the diversity that I need, while aiding me in bringing my dreams of working more in depth with clients, by helping assist them with their individual needs and issues to reality. The Social work field also offers versatility which allows me to work in many dimensions, such as clinical, case management, and many other composites which enables me to help every population. Becoming a social worker gives me other benchmarks in which I can use to evaluate programs,
What has sparked my interest is once I knew that my brother was going to school to become a PT I thought it sounded like a good job so then I became an athletic trainer so I can start to learn some now. “My interest in this career is to be able to help people get back to where they once were”(“Barton”). I am currently doing athletic training to help me continue learning about being a PT by helping when someone gets an injury or by trying to give them some strengthening exercises. I have been really interested in this career for a very long time ever since I have known about Physical Therapy and what it does I have wanted to be in the field.
My future goal is to become an Occupational Therapist. They help patients to recover and improve skills needed for daily living and working. I plan to attend either Gannon or St. Francis University to pursue my degree in this field. Both schools offer the five year program which combines a bachelor and master degree. My plan is to pass my knowledge onto the people I care for to better their quality of life.
