Petition for Reinstatement When I received my admission letter from Michigan State University, I started shivering as my palms were dripping sweat. The nervousness I had was extremely high, and my state of mind was like a brand new soccer ball getting kicked on the soccer field; as this letter will determine my future. My mother and I opened the letter together as we took a deep breath and hoped that this was nothing but great news. After a glance at the first word “Congratulations,” I couldn’t go farther for I couldn’t believe what I’ve just read, so I read it loud and clear repeatedly to get it clear and to hear myself say it. After tearing the envelope, I slowly grabbed the letter and started to read it; from every letter to every word …show more content…
As you can see High School is a different environment than college. When I was in High School, I didn’t study as much in order to receive a high gpa. However, that wasn’t the same ball game in college and that’s why I not on campus like I’m supposed to. First personal choice I made that impacted my academic performance poorly was not showing up to class on time or not show up at all. I didn’t learn the material the professor was teaching, and didn’t know the due dates for homework, quizzes, tests, etc. Since I didn’t know the most important materials that I was to use to farther my knowledge and to improve my gpa, I started falling behind and couldn’t keep up with other students. Another personal choice I made that impacted my academic performance poorly was partying too much. I partied more than the average student. I used to party three times a week. This affected my grades poorly as I was tired in class from partying so much the day before. Sometimes I will fall asleep and wake up at the end of class. My final personal choice I made that impacted my grades poorly was not willing to find resources, even though we have one of the greatest library in the nation, I didn’t spend enough time to improve my test scores or …show more content…
I never thought I’d ever receive a letter like that in my years of education. The only person I can blame is me, not anyone else. I messed up and had to pay consequences for my actions. When I came back after receiving my recess letter, I decide to visit the public library in downtown frequently. I have read many books about study habits and ways to improve grades, and how to find resources around local areas. One book was very familiar, it’s called “survival guide for engineers.” The first thing on the table of contents is “Go to class” and that’s exactly what I’m going to do, nothing else. It has more on about how important it is to attend class and on time. That’d be the first thing I will change when I’m reinstated into Michigan State University. Being involve in class will be my second thing to focus on since I will like to communicate with other classmates and the professor. I will also participate in review sessions and study groups. That session on the book extended my knowledge on to get myself involve within the classroom when students are
Imagine that you are getting home from school and all you want to do is eat a snack and watch Judge Judy. You are exhausted from a long day of testing, exams, and writing essays. To top it off, you have homework in math, science, and writing. You have no energy to give, you have no desire to think anymore. The alternative is, you fail your classes.
Additionally, having great attendance has been known to be linked to higher grades. Once you are in the class, you are able to engage and pay attention to the lesson which will help you out when it comes to
The first day of class we needed to have the book annotated and ready for discussion. Through the annotations, I was able to grasp the hidden meaning and values of the book. I remember when I finally came to the realization of the underlying meaning

One specific suggestion I learned from this chapter that may assist me as a professional educator is how classroom volunteers support students learning. There are different roles
What you see is what you get. I am your typical diligent, obedient, nerd and I work hard to maintain strong averages in my classes to see as little red marks on my papers as possible. I am my biggest criticizer so when my grades start to drop, so does my confidence and sanity. Against my will I motivate myself to sit straight for as many hours I need whether that is 1 or 5, to write formulas or essays or reports and get ahead of the load of work because I do not have enough time during the week.
Currently, I work for South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department (SCVRD). I am an Assessment and Career Exploration Specialist and also a Job Preparedness Instructor. While I enjoy my current role, I feel the need to carry out a more significant function in the rehabilitation process. I am seeking a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling because it is a requirement for the next step in my career. Well into the future, I envision myself in a leadership role within my current agency where I am able to advise on agency practices and service provision.
For student like us, by getting enough sleep, we can be more focus in class. A medicine instructor at Harvard Medical School, Lawrence Epstein says that the sleep deprivation can affect student performances in class. Another statistics by Health Research Funding also prove that sleep deprivation will cause
Primarily, the researchers believe that there is a need to increase awareness of the students’ achievements that predict their eventual success to assist them in enhancing their college readiness skills. The objective of the author’s bulletin is to highlight student-level indicators in both the high school and middle school that predict college accomplishment. In this study, predictors are divided into three categories: test scores (e.g., SAT exam scores), transcript attributes (e.g., course difficulty), and supplementary indicators (e.g., attendance) that affect academic performance and achievement of students. Comprehension of these indicators can facilitate administrators and educators working to determine whether students are attaining improvement toward achieving academic proficiency in the college
The teachers helped me through lessons during class that ensured a clear understanding. I received extra notes for certain lessons that in my advantage allowed me to easily do the problems assigned. Some students may see this experience negatively,
I have recently decided to work harder on receiving “A’s” as class grades. I have observed a few friends who have excellent GPA scores to see what do they do to have good grades. I have learned that they study several times a week by their selves and in groups. They also make sure to read over assignments to understand exactly what needs to be completed. They are never late on any assignments and put time, effort and dedication in to every class.
Despite having enrolled in these difficult classes, I believed I would continue my trend of getting good grades. However, I was not prepared for it and faced a rude awakening. I had difficulty balancing the more complex material as well as my hobbies in programming and extracurricular activities. For the first time
These participants were more likely to blame low G.P.A 's on things outside of their control such as family problems, illness, or a professor who did not like them rather than thinking that their grades and academic
I Surrounded myself with people that did not want the best for my future. The people i decided to hang out with wasn’t going to class, or maybe they wasn’t studying the night before a big test. I say that to say being an effective academic learner can start with the company you keep & your ability to break bad habits. I had to start thinking for myself step out the bad environment that i grew attached to over time. I slipped away badly the tunnel was almost dark i had almost lost of faith in myself pertaining to the classroom after a few report
