I am interested in politics and economics because when I finish university, I would like to contribute to global issues that I studied in geography class such as poverty and disparities by finding solutions to them. This interest has arise as a result of my experiences in Thailand. Despite the rapid economic development, which can be clearly seen in newly-opened, luxury, department stores and expensive, new, high-rise apartment buildings, economic disparity in the country is a problem, as just a few percent of population holds high proportion of the national wealth whereas a lot of people are suffering from poverty. Firstly, it provides various subjects, let alone provides the specialized political science and economics course. They broaden my spectrum of knowledge, allowing me to apply more varied knowledge to global issues. For example religion studies will help me to understand religious conflict. Secondly, classes taught in English are attractive to me because they will enhance my English. I have studied English for two and half years, and it was indescribably challenging for me to communicate with teachers and friends. It was frustrating at first specially in the varsity cross country and varsity tennis team I was in for two years, because I felt isolated as I could not join their conversations. However with my patient efforts, I improved communication skills little by little, and they are now the best teammates I could ask for. Moreover, despite such a short English learning experience I chose to do IB diploma and write my Extended Essay in English, because I wanted to challenge myself to improve my command of it. I would like to continue studying English as learning English expanded my knowledge, capability, and perspective to a large extent, and better fluency leads to further expansion of them, as a result of effective communication and collaboration with more people. This motivates me to study one more foreign language as well. Finally, opportunities to take classes conducted in Japanese will help me to maintain my high Japanese skill, balancing with English-language
