Personal Statement: A Career As A Mechanical Engineer

As expressive as the above quote sounds, so much the same is my intention as I write this personal statement. I would like to introduce myself to you as a ‘word’ in search of its ‘expression’. Surely, a word by definition carries a specific meaning, but an expression is what offers it its worldly recognition beyond the bounds of language. What makes this metaphor an ideal one for my introduction, is my undying wish to study Mechanical Engineering, especially its Design aspect which in context to my metaphor defines my missing expression. Always one interested in the ambits, practical applications, processes and impacts of pure sciences, I knew since an early age that I would be getting into engineering. Graduating as a Mechanical Engineer, I believe I’m half way down on the journey to my destination. Having acquired the technical knowledge from the taught subjects, I wish to master in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on its design aspects. With a flexible course selection policy like the one offered in the U.S.A., I would be able to pursue the appropriate course that suits my acumen and would accouter me to accomplish my ambitions. The graduate program in Mechanical Engineering at California State University at Northridge and the institute itself are the most apposite for the flourishing of my abilities and fulfillment of my objectives. I find the faculties engaged in and the facilities available for engineering science instruction, Applied Dynamics and Optimization Laboratory, Dynamical Systems Laboratory etc. at this university symbiotic and
