As expressive as the above quote sounds, so much the same is my intention as I write this personal statement. I would like to introduce myself to you as a ‘word’ in search of its ‘expression’. Surely, a word by definition carries a specific meaning, but an expression is what offers it its worldly recognition beyond the bounds of language. What makes this metaphor an ideal one for my introduction, is my undying wish to study Mechanical Engineering, especially its Design aspect which in context to my metaphor defines my missing expression. Always one interested in the ambits, practical applications, processes and impacts of pure sciences, I knew since an early age that I would be getting into engineering. Mechanical engineering, the oldest, the widest yet the most inclusive and the most versatile engineering discipline, is what I chose for my undergraduate studies; for the sheer liberty, …show more content…
Graduating as a Mechanical Engineer, I believe I’m half way down on the journey to my destination. Having acquired the technical knowledge from the taught subjects, I wish to master in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on its design aspects. With a flexible course selection policy like the one offered in the U.S.A., I would be able to pursue the appropriate course that suits my acumen and would accouter me to accomplish my ambitions. The graduate program in Mechanical Engineering at California State University at Northridge and the institute itself are the most apposite for the flourishing of my abilities and fulfillment of my objectives. I find the faculties engaged in and the facilities available for engineering science instruction, Applied Dynamics and Optimization Laboratory, Dynamical Systems Laboratory etc. at this university symbiotic and
”― Patrick Rothfuss. There is power in words, power in the way they can bring new ideas and opinions to the people who perceive them. The people who understand this the most, are the people who use them to weave stories for their audience. It stands to reason that these practitioners might draw from each other, as a student who cannot help but to glance over at another student's work with the purpose of improvement.
They have a great academic program and many other programs. The University is has eighteen schools and colleges, the largest, of which is College of Liberal Arts. The University
Another way of saying that phrase is “SMTTT”. The university specializes in ocean science and engineering. The University of Southern Mississippi also specializes in polymer science. The University of Southern Mississippi was founded in 1910. Southern Miss is a public research facility.
Arthur Brooks, is a world renowned writer, Harvard professor, and columnist through The Atlantic in which he has written several pieces of writing over the years. Four Rules for Identifying Your Life’s Work, talks about four rules that will help you find your marshmallow. It also includes an intended audience of high school graduates and the way it impacts them the most in this whole new chapter in their life. Arthur Brooks' intended audience is about to enter college and he feels it’s important to identify their life's work using these four rules. To begin with, Arthur Brooks develops the idea of finding your marshmallow throughout the entire article.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, a renowned transcendentalist, shared many universal truths during the period of Transcendentalism, which further advocated the ideals of the period. This maxim in particular expresses that your own identity and perspective of the world is what is most important in the end. Emerson states that nothing is as important as you, regarding the path you choose and the ideals you create for yourself. In other words, Emerson encourages people to not succumb to society's expectations of who a person should be, but instead live a lifestyle you desire to live.
As a dreamer and queer woman of color, pursuing a career in STEM has been quite challenging. But I have never let anything get in the way of reaching my goals and dreams. I have swam against the current in order to be where I am today, where I have dreamt of being. I am currently a second year student at Trinity Washington University majoring in biochemistry and minoring in mathematics. I am a dedicated student and an analytical and skilled critical thinker who is eager to learn.
The design challenges presented by my dream kindle my passion for engineering. As a female engineer, I anticipate encountering numerous obstacles in the pursuit of my career. Despite my passion and ambition, some will view me as less capable than a man. I refuse to let these obstructions crush my ambition.
The Mindset “Although people may differ in every which way- in their initial talents and aptitudes, interests, or temperaments- everyone can change and grow through application and experience.” Does the people that an individual is surrounded by have an impact on someone developing a growth mindset? For years people have been wondering why people think and act differently from each other. In the article “The Mindsets,” Carol Dweck talks about two different types of mindsets that she has studied for thirty years.
Since I was in my childhood I have high curiosity on how and why things work. I have this unsatisfied feeling until I know why and how it 's happening. My dad always told me the same about me. I still remember how I spend the whole day looking for what make the pedestal fan to swing and I opened up its cover to see the motor and gear rotating and for me it 's fascinating. He used to bring me along with him in his nearest four wheel drive park where he taught me many things about four wheel vehicles.
Nowadays every one is a writer. We write on social media every day, we send emails and short messages. However, we are not all great writers, this is the reserve of the few that put in effort and can cleverly coin a phrase. -------------------------------- I begin my journey knowing I face a myriad of challenges.
For all of my life, I have had a skill and a great interest in the design and construction of a variety of objects and machinery. I have known since day one that all i wanted to do is design brand new and innovative technology. I have chosen Waterloo as my first choice of education for my future career as a mechanical engineer for many reasons. One being the schools amazing reputation as a school of applied sciences, having been given the nickname “MIT of the north” by many. I know a few people who have attended this University.
yes. Even though a person would have to dig a little deeper to see the strong brotherly ties amongst the students of today the fact still remains that they are present. While the students of yesterday may have shown there brotherhood though more physical acts than today's students due to the oppression's and limitations of that time today’s students can seek out and communicate with more brothers than ever before with the advances of technology. So when asked the question of if brotherhood is still runs strong amongst the students of today as previously stated the answer is still yes. As the times and the attitudes of people have changed so to has Morehouse’s ways of brotherhood.
After exploring the different wings of Mechanical Engineering, graduate education would be the right place to work and explore my interest specific to Mechanical Designing. A doctoral degree will not only enable me to venture out to different domains in design and analysis but also help to develop myself as an independent individual with a sense of responsibility. I’ll also get to work with like-minded people in a competitive environment conducive to constructive learning. Graduate school also offers positions for research and teaching assistantships which would prepare me for a career in teaching. The research internship at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore has taught me that leaving the comforts of the home country and immersing myself in an entirely new culture will push the boundaries of my capabilities.
Right from my childhood days, I was always eager to know how things work in surroundings. When I was given toys, I hardly played with them rather tried to dismantle it and try to know the mechanism running it. During school days, I have participated in many science exhibitions which further motivated me towards taking my knowledge and experience onto a higher and advanced level. With this desire and curiosity to understand machines and mechanisms, I chose to complete my graduation in Mechanical Engineering.
