Every nursing, in order to consider the profession must have an understanding of at least three of the five professional values, in my opinion. These values consist of altruism, autonomy, human dignity, integrity and social justice (Taylor 96). Beginning with the professional value of Altruism, the believe in or practice and self concern for the well-being of others (96). I believe that in order to be the best nurse you can be for your patients, you must understand the concept of altruism. As a nurse, your profession is to take care of people, if you do not know the professional value of altruism than you cannot possibly understand how important it is to care about the wellbeing of your patient.

With this New Graduate Nurse Residency Program, I hope to be exposed to many different clinical situations. I hope to further develop my clinical leadership skills and to gain new knowledge.

Health care, entrepreneurship, and ambassadorship are the core tenets of my desired career. These aspects look to tackle the problems that lie within health care and health care research for minorities. There is a lack of knowledge on some of the diseases and illnesses that plague minorities. This can be attributed to a variety of things. For one, there are not enough research samples from desired minority populations due to stigma and there is little to no interest in exploring the why’s and how’s of why some minorities are susceptible to some diseases.
Upon graduating from Hampton University, I will receive a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology. Although biology is such a broad major that can take you on endless paths, I hope to pursue a career in the medical world specifically as a doctor. As a doctor not only will I have to know the ins and outs of my procedures, the latest news in the medical world, but I must also have a clear understanding of how the health care system works. Therefore, I propose to research how countries from a wide economic range are able to provide health care it its citizens. By doing so I can then justify why Sweden has such a high performing system and argue how the health care policies in developing countries can be improved.
