How to reach personal success and goals. My wish and determination as a doctoral student with Capella University, is to gain the knowledge of the studies. I want to work in the field that I have studied for over seven years. I want to walk in confident from the degree that I have earned and of course earn more money. The first goal is to beat cancer one more time, as this is the third attack. Hopefully, I do not have to take chemo again. Chemo seems to weaken my body each time. However, I know will beat cancer again. I am determined to become a success and known as Dr. Ruffin Johnson. I will hopefully one day walk in the room and everyone in the room stand up to greet me by referring to me as hello Dr. Ruffin Johnson. Society today drives …show more content…
To win the battle mentioned above I must first conquer the most difficult task of a healthier life. I can control cancer, and I can control what I eat, or drink. There are unhealthy things that will be modified from my life, and then I will be able to reach all the goals that will make me feel successful. I do not drink alcohol, but I smoke cigarettes and eat junk foods. The minute I become stressed I grab a cigarette and a cookie. However the cancer was not from the smoking, but from hormone pills a doctor gave to me. My doctor confirmed by medical science, that my lungs are not affected by the smoke. Many seem to think I do not really smoke or inhale but just hold the cigarette. How funny is that? Here are my goals for the next two years: Quit smoking, eat better, exercise, gain knowledge from this coursework, improve on self-confidence, improve organizational skills, gain better employment, and remove all weaknesses. According to this article study, there was conflict between goal progress and interest (Downie et al., 2006). As an habitual procrastinator I really can relate to this study, but there is hope for …show more content…
I also do not allow myself to become upset for not getting a particular job role. I have learned that many jobs are not given because of qualifications but are given based on who you know. I really hate when I go to a job and the entire family work there, the mama, daddy, sister, brother, cousin and aunt. Immediately I do not want to work for the company, unless it is a family owned business. I must say that I have also had opportunities like this, but it was not family. It was people who I had built friendly relationships with in the past, met them along the way and unknowingly applied at their
Right now, it’s the beginning of my most important goal, my degree, it’s the main goal carving my path to success. Then it will be on to a career where I will work hard day after day. All in all, getting my degree will be one of my most life changing accomplishments. Forming me into a person that not only I but my closest family and friends can be proud of. Paving a path towards a financially secured lifestyle, allowing me to do things that I thought I could only dream of.
Macbeth Project Some of the most worthy goals are also the most difficult to accomplish. Major accomplishments can take a tremendous amount of time and effort, and it is easy to get discouraged and give up. However from from beginning to end it is evident that Macbeth is a man who will go to any length to achieve his goals. Though Macbeth and I may have slightly different intentions as well as contrasting objectives, he is a perfect example of a dedicated individual who strives for his desires.
Introduction Miriam-Webster (n.d.) defines success as “the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame”. To me success is not money, possessions, or the illusion of happiness. How the world defines success is much different than how I define success. Rick Warren, in his book “Purpose Driven Life” (2002, p.19) says “You could reach all your personal goals, becoming a raving success by the world’s standard, and still miss the purposes for which God created you.”
What makes you the same person today as you were yesterday? Are you even the same person as yesterday? If we were to answer no to that question, then wouldn’t that mean you would have different friends the next day and that you wouldn’t even remember who your old friends were. If we’re not the same person from day to day then all of our relationships and society as a whole will be turned upside down and must be false, since an enduring self is the foundation for society. The traditional western view believes that there is an enduring self.
Throughout the history, there have been heated discussions on what constitutes a good life. Philosophers have given different annotations on the meaning of good life based on their beliefs, perspectives or even scientific-based evidences. Some view a good life as an accumulation of material goods that brings “large amount” of pleasure to oneself. On the other hand, Mencius and Aristotle advocate good life as possessing of pleasure that incorporates ethical values and they believe that by doing so one will experience enduring happiness. There is no ultimate right or wrong for these interpretations since this is not a factual question.
November 21, 2003: The sound of a siren wailing, racing toward the hospital in order to transfer my immobilized body, weak and frail, to the University of California, San Francisco. On arrival to UCSF I had been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a type of cancer that attacks the white blood cells in the bone marrow. Thankfully the cancer was discovered rather quickly which prevented it from spreading to other parts of the body; however, I had to endure the long five years of chemotherapy.
Another person might think of success as making millions of dollars and having a huge house with nice cars this is also an achievable goal. I want nothing more than to graduate with a degree and start my career as a dental hygienist. A short term goal that will help me become successful is studying to ace every test given to me. Beginning solid study habits right
Besides math and chemistry being my favorite subjects, I want to become a pharmacist to be involved in patient care and help patients understand the proper use of their medication. In May 2009, my middle school Principal, Ms. Suzi Johnson died of pancreatic and liver cancer. Within three weeks of her cancer diagnosis, she passed away suddenly. There could have been a possibility for her to have been treated in the short timespan between her diagnosis and death, and as a pharmacist, I hope to conduct epidemiological research into cancer to find a fast acting cure. I had known her since I was three years old and she had a big influence on me.
My Ideal Self Who/what do you want to achieve/have, why? In the shorter term (3 years), I want to graduate from HELP University’s Degree of Psychology in first-class honours. I understand claims stating such academic achievement is merely a graduation certificate, without guarantee of work opportunities. However, my aim is not motivated towards work opportunities or anything materialistic; I just want to appreciate and value every learning opportunity.
Procrastination is often linked to failure to self-regulate rather than poor time management. Dr. Timothy Pychyl, faculty member at Carleton University in Canada has studies procrastination extensively. One of the theories he suggests is that two parts of the human brain are in constant battle during procrastination, the limbic system and the prefrontal cortex. The limbic system supports emotions, behavior, long-term memory and motivation. In a sense, this is where the “pleasure center” is.
1. SUBJECTIVE WELL BEING Subjective Well Being has three components viz. Satisfaction with Life, Positive Affect and Negative Affect. Satisfaction with Life was measured using Satisfaction with Life Scale developed by Diener et al.
Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to be successful in life. I have always wanted to be the better version of my parents and achieve many things in life. During my freshman year in High school, I knew I was going to major in business. I come from a household of five, my father, mother, two younger sisters, and myself. I am the first in my family to go to college and with that being said, I have always felt the pressure to be the best role model and example for my younger sisters.
then start doing something towards that goal. Th key is to start now and then work towards building on that. Whether your goal is career related or personal. you can achieve success if you become disciplined at it. I have seen this work well in my life towards in the area of fitness.
How to Achieve Success The term of success appears frequently in public notice and it spurs extensive interests in public. Everybody wants to achieve success, but the fact is that not everyone can make it even though he or she has tried his or her best. Then it comes to a question - how to make it? Does it depend on opportunity or any other features?
Success can be presented as many different things. It is not something that has only one definition. Being that the word differs from person to person. With that said, having a lot of money can be considered as success for some. In reference to someone who looks at having twenty dollars a success.
