We live in a world where marine life eat our trash, while at the same time, people go days without having something to eat. It is a sad but devastating reality. Everyday the world’s oceans continue to become a universal junkyard. Marine pollution continues to grow exponentially on the one resource that separates us from the rest of the universe. On land, there is a different problem. Hundreds of thousands of people go to bed every night without food. We not only want to fix both of these issues, we need to. BlueGold is our non-profit organization that helps homeless people living near coastal cities receive food while collecting trash from the beach. Our goal is to not only clean up the ocean, but also help feed those who go hungry due to monetary incapabilities. Thus, we are able to tackle two ongoing problems in the world today, hunger and marine pollution.

The television star Julia Child allowed Americans to understand the joy of cooking and the passion to not only make food but take advantage of the “ways” the French had to experience a more delightful meal. Her television show along with the books that she made helped the people see cooking as “an immerse pleasure and a true creative outlet”. During the 1960’s she also introduced another tradition from the French cuisine which was drinking wine while having a meal. Julia Child promoted changes in food and the way kitchens were built as well. She believed that there had to be a place for everything, her kitchen had different drawers to put the materials, tools and equipment placed in particular areas and work surfaces so that she was able to cook having the right amount of space depending on what she was doing.
Is hunting for sport (not food or survival) morally justified? At one point of time hunting was very crucial for survival but now some would say hunting is nothing more than a violent form of recreation that the majority of hunters do not need for subsistence. Those who support hunting may say it does more good than bad for economic reasons. Outsiders are more concerned with the pain and suffering and loss of life endured by the animals. A study conducted by a Yale professor concluded that 60% of Americans disapprove of sport hunting and about one-third of Americans favor a total ban on hunting (Achor 138). I believe hunting animals for sport and not for survival is completely wrong and should be illegal.
A child does not typically think about their lives ahead. Although they may not think about it, it is still there. Life ahead means getting a job to make money for everything else and if one wants a good job in the future, then college is the best option. College education is worth it because it makes a person better and more educated, it is not as expensive as some think, and college pays for itself once there is a good job to pay for it.
The first attempt and success to climb Mt. Everest occured in 1953. Since then, almost 4,000 people have been able to scale the mountain, but over 230 people have not been able to climb it successfully. There is a chance of accident or death when climbing this mountain or any dangerous activity. All people should should have the right to rescue services even if they knowingly put themselves at risk because there is always a chance of an accident happening, rangers are there to save people in danger, and there are rescue vehicles being produced to be used in case of an emergency.
Imagine being so hungry you can’t even move. Having to sleep in a house made of dirt, or being so thirsty because there is no safe drinking water. People around the World face these problems everyday. 328,000,000 children live in extreme poverty, and 1 in 10 people live on less than $1.90 a day. The conditions they live in are horrible and everyone should do what they can to help end poverty and world hunger.
Who hasn’t heard about Chipotle yet? Chipotle is modern day fast food business. Chipotle thrives on serving non-GMO and healthy foods. Chipotles profits are estimated over $200 million. The issue has arrived concerning the definition of “junk” food and whether or not the government should be able to control it. The committee seeks to prevent the nation from falling into this trap of confusion. The topic of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP has been a recent issue and we as a committee seek to address it. The major question is, Should the government be able to control what people buy or do not buy with food stamps? As a chairperson of the United States Department of Agriculture exploratory committee, we would like to present our information. We speak for the foundations of the country when we say, “The government should not be allowed to control what people do or do not buy with food stamps.” We believe the foundations of freedom, the definition of junk food, and the purpose of food stamps all contribute to our reasoning.
“Fast food restaurants have us hooked on to their tasty food. You See a lot of people buying fast food because how good it tastes. Well let me tell you it is not good for your health. Why do fast food places lower their prices because they know people will buy it if it doesn’t cost that much and most people buy it cause that`s how much they can afford”. Fast food places is a way to not cook every week I feel bad for people when I go to McDonald’s and ask them, do you know what you’re eating in they say
Some say getting hired at any job can be difficult, especially if it considers taking a few risks to work during long hours. Like Russel Honore and Bill Laitner talks about how they risked to not work for anything they were interested in, but who can complain when somebody earns money to take care of oneself? Some people believe that having a job is a privilege, and that anyone should be thankful for having that job even if some of those employees do not like it. Although having a job can be time-consuming and stressful, it is a responsibility to provide for oneself with anything that comes from work.
Being a vegetarian means that you have to exclude all foods that contain any sort of meat in it including all dairy products if you are a strict vegetarian or a vegan. Some people choose to become a vegetarian as it can help with weight loss due to the decreased calorie intake and the fact that plant proteins, fruits and vegetables have less calories in them and are high in minerals and vitamins. Ofcourse there are multiple reasons why people choose to become vegetarians but weight loss, saving the planet and saving the animals are common reasons why vegetarianism is growing.
They are our future. According to society, our entire world may be in the hands of our children. But if children are the future then why do they still suffer from hunger due to poverty and food insecurity? The amount of children suffering is higher than a number than you could’ve ever anticipated. It’s horrendous that while living in one of the wealthiest countries in the world we still see children starving. “One in six youngsters are at a risk of hunger because of limited or uncertain access to nutritious food” (“An Invisible Hunger”). This shows that countless houses in the U.S don’t have the basic essentials to feed a child. There are millions of ravenous kids in the U.S and there are very catastrophic effects because of this.
The world is experiencing a dilemma today. Many people suffer from hunger, malnutrition, and other problems caused by the lack of sufficient food. However, many other people buy or order excessive foods and waste a lot. In my community, food waste is much more serious than food shortage, and it is easy to see that people throw foods in the dustbin and the foods indeed are still eatable. Food waste is a serious problem. It not only wastes money but also causes some environmental problems, such as pollution and rats. However, many people do not realize the problem now. Considering that food waste is troubling, it is important to initiate a movement to motivate residents to reduce food waste, and the movement can be carried out through reeducatice and facilitative strategies.
